- After just upgrading my work vehicle I knew I had to build a sturdy rack to accommodate the various materials that I regularly transport to and from the workshop. In this video I build the headache rack for the truck which will be followed up with a part two when I get the chance to fabricate the rear upright portion of the rack. Thanks for watching guys and I hope you enjoy the video!

Te felicito quedo muy bueno , de qué medida es el perfil de acero que utilizaste para el rack
Thank you! From memory I believe it was 50mm x 50mm tubing.
@@Beyrer_Bespoke_Furniture muchas Gracias
Hey mate, looking at doing something similar. Where did you purchase the materials? (I also live in NZ) cheers
Hey mate, I usually get all my steel through Steel&Tube. 👍🏼
What was the plastic piece? Cool build. Anything you wish you could change on the build?
Hi Levi, thanks for the comment. It was a piece of UHMWPE Black plastic which I decided to attach as protection for the paint as loading and unloading timber from the rack would eventually scratch and damage the paint. After using it for the past few months I am pretty happy with the final result and so far there aren't any changes I would make to it.
Any problems with it chipping? I like the reasoning behind it
No, not at all. I went for a Thermoplastic coating so it could be sliced or cut through but doesn't chip and I have been told that any areas where steel does get exposed won't let moisture underneath the rest of the coating. Hope that helps!
What type of metal/wall thickness did you use?
Hey mate, I used 50x50mm steel tube with a 3mm wall thickness for this.
how much angle did you give to the studs
I angled the two uprights as close as I could to the shape of the cab which ended up being about 20 degrees.
What thickness steel tube did you use?
Hi mate, I used 50x50mm steel tube with a 3mm wall thickness for this.
@@Beyrer_Bespoke_Furniture cheers, wondering what you eyeball the capacity is with those materials? thinking about making my own, rated around 700kg.
@@WakingUpSux Not 100% sure on capacity as I am no engineer but I have carried some heavy loads of plywood and packs of hardwood on this rack with no flexing so I'd say you wouldn't be far off with 700kg. Best of luck with your project mate!
@@Beyrer_Bespoke_Furniture Much thanks brother!
Angulo de inclinación para los cortes
From memory I believe the uprights are angled at around 20 degrees. ✌🏼
Gracias muy amable por el dato.....Te quedo excelente
You are welcome and thanks a lot!
