She really was a prodigy. She not only took direction and followed step, but she added her own emotive flair. It goes beyond her years and beyond human talent itself. Truly a divine gift, and we are humbled to be a witness to her charms. Rest in Peace, our Captain Curls.
Prodigy is an understatement she was the greatest child actress of all times.

They gave her methamphetamine & she worked long hours until it was perfect.
I love how Buddy ebsen when he was younger, such a great dancer 🕺
These are the kind of movies we need now!
Im so happy that these movies are still available to watch. Its great to see so many actors in their younger days. Absolutely loved Shirley Temples movies but always felt so sorry for her at such a young age. Thank you for sharing.
In later interviews, Shirley said she thoroughly enjoyed being in the movies. Her mother stayed close to her for support.
what is the story behind shirley temple? she was such a happy talented little girl
I so love this one!❤️She really was too adorable.😍
I have to say that Captain January, Heidi, and The Littlest Colonel have to be my all time favorite Shirley Temple movies.😍❤️🥰
Dear " tracyfox",
Have you seen
Shirley's later film,
"Kiss And Tell " ?
So funny, especially
" Dexter ", with his
"Holy Cow !", and
" Raymond " with
his " Well , I think it's
all very dumb !".

Hi Rosemarie,
No, I haven’t seen that one. I’ll have to look it up and watch it. She’s adorable in all of her movies so I’m sure I would love that one as well. Thanks so much for telling me about it.☺️
They are wonderful, but my favorite is Stowaway!
Love her old movies.....saw all of them as a child. Thanks so much....
I'm 70 now. I've been watching Shirley Temple movies for 60 years and the Script and Lyrics here were so emotionally intelligent in today's vocabulary. I even wrote a Shirley Temple Prayer about her adorable innocence and Grace.
I really enjoyed the La La Song.
BTW, when I was 10 watching her movies I thought that she was my age then. But she was already grown up and out of the business. She later became a U.S. Ambassador, living right here in California. 👉♥️👈🙏
Shirley served as an US Ambassador to Czechoslovakia 1989- 1992. She lived in Prague.
@@melianna999 And Ghana. :)
I'm àddictid I watch her movies over and over no cussing great for young çhilden

Shirley Temple's movies always pull at the heart strings 😢 they where such great movies ❤ rip Mrs. Shirly Temple Black 🙏
My grandmother bought this film for us on VHS, she had all her movies. I was probably one of the few 90’s kids that even knew who Shirley Temple was. I always loved the tattoo scene where Capt. January made the mermaid dance and they showed off their tattoos. For some reason I thought of that scene today and thankfully found the movie on here.
My mom is a HUGE Shirley Temple fan. I was raised on these movies, I am thankful for that!
Yeah it was actually pretty common in the 90s as a resurgent so you're definitely not the only person I remember growing up with it too lol

Son muy bonitas estás películas lo único malo es que yo no hablo inglés y tengo que inventar los diálogos de todos modos gracias
I'm a 60's child and stuck in the 30's and 40's movies! Have almost every Shirley Temple movie on VCR and nothing better on a rainy day than curl up on the couch and binge watch little Miss Temple and all her gifts of acting, sing and dancing! One of the few truly GREATS!! Thanks for sharing this movie and yes, it's a rainy Friday and guess what I'm gonna do!
Love captain January with buddy Epson
Incredibly talented child
Dancing singing acting Tripple threat!
This episode was always my favorite as a child. It really pulls on all the emotions.
My grandmother loved Shirly Temple. When I was a teenager, she bought the collection on VHS tape. I never really paid much attention to the movies. Now, I do appreciate them far more. Thank you.
never thought an old, old movie can still make me feel good inside. 😊
"Old, old times" are actually very young and primeval times. It's now that we have gotten old and senile...)
I so loved Shirley`s movies back in the day!
I have always loved Shirley Temple, so much talent. My mum and I used to watch together. My mum's favourite was Deanna Durbin though.
Polite or unpolite, angry with smile, sometimes child or adult. Each child is important not only like a star but when need help from adults. Love, sacrifice can make everything with Wach difficulties for child's goodness- PL
This is my favorite movie of all the movies she made. The ending makes me so happy 😊. I am so happy that Star got to be with Captain January at the end. It was funny when Captain saw Mrs. Croft on the ship and she told him she was the cook. RIP Shirley Temple you were such a great actress. She was so adorable when she was young. Thank you You Tube for showing this movie.
tears and endless laughter! dancing, singing, and even OPERA... great performances by all! one of my favorites...
That movie was good. Shirley did a good job wanting the captain, I wanted to cry. Thank You for the upload.
Such a young Buddy Epson.
“Ebsen”
@@kuyanico1653He played Mr. Tin Man, but he had to be replaced by another actor.

TY, and God Bless everyone for putting this on CZcams.
Shirley Temple got me through some dark times.
Gosh she was like a little animated doll. LoL
Some of her scenes in her movies make me shed tears. I think she captures our childhood innocence that must still reside inside us despite the layers of other stuff that can happen over the years. I think this is who we REALLY are and who we REALLY should be.
Im grateful to God for these movies. I feel most alive again!
❤
Absolutely loved this film - fun, laughter, music, dancing and tears. What more could I need?
Thanks for your wonderful vid 😇💟💟💟 Love us all.
How could a little kid that young memorize all those lines & have so much patience with dancing, etc? Plus, she was so darn cute!
The young Buddy Ebsen as school teacher's bo.
Forgot how great Shirley was.
This was actually my favorite one
Loved this movie thank you
How lovely. A gem of a film.
Great classic
This movie is the best of Shirley Temple's acting skills.😊IMO
These old movies are wonderful. It must have been a special treat to go to the theater to watch it on the big screen. Everyone was dressed in their best clothes to be respectfully presentable. Not like today where most are dressed like a slob.
One of the reasons why these old movies are so great is because they had real sentiment and contained ethical issues. Even for a fantasy, they worked very well to uphold people's expectations in life if it could be that way or they way they would want it to be.
The poor crane 16:09. According to Temple, he was nailed to the floor.
Wtf... Did no one have a heart for creatures back then?!
As a little girl I absolutely loved Shirley Temple! I got soooo excited whenever one of her movies came on! I thought this cheery little cherub was how all little girls were supposed to be. I was a very happy little girl, and I had naturally curly hair. I wanted to be just like her. 😄
Love the black and white picture of this movie.
Beautiful film
This is one of my favourite movies of Sherley, the scene where she explains how she took care of her brother is too cute, her exoression says come on champ…bring it on, I was waiting for this one.😊😅😅😅😅….superb❤❤…love the cuteness of this child prodigy…RIP champ
Thank you for the translation. I am from Saudi Arabia
The opera trio was adorable. Can't quite put my finger on the one they were doing but they gave it a run for the money. LOL
Then came the highchair wetnurse and baby scene. Toooo cute !

Amounts to a "seemingly" butt text.
Were you actually trying to make a point ? I didn't think so.
Excellent coloration! Retrospective has the release date down as 1938 but that's wrong this movie was made in 1936.
This is a really good film too watch 😊
Thanks for sharing it! I always enjoy watching Great Old Movies though. 👍👌👏
An of course, I'm a subscriber!
Thanks Again Though.
Herzerfrischend diese goldige Shirley, schade dass der Film nicht ins deutsche übersetzt wurde.trotzdem vielen Dank, bitte mehr davon
Ny favorite Shirley Temple movie she was one of a kind .My mother hated that bitter hateful trunt officer. Thank you for posting. 💙🙏🕊greetings from France 🇫🇷 Arnaund Bourvon Amaral
She was truly a bright star. One in a million. I am sad to see some trying to silence her now days.
Magnifique film 👍
I bawled at the end. I was so happy that the rich family decided to do go to all. Because I was crying with her when they took her from the old captain. She truly was a class of her own. No comparison.
I love Shirley temple movies
She is Amazing and l love her acting like in
😮
Good movie thank you
Don't know how she remembered all those songs she was awesome.
This film is from 1936, not 1938. It is my favorite of all the Shirley temple films.
35:14 😂😂😂 she’s right though about the fattened calf!
I love Youuuuu Shirleyyy
love this old movies
Sharing this now... Txs
Q bella y adorable era pero si muy triste porq la explotaban mucho pero para esos tiempos no existían las leyes fuertes como ahora era tan inteligente wao 😊
Um encanto de menina Shirley Temple muitíssimo talentosa para a época ❤
In January s one of m favorites. I guess my very favorite is Heidi. Then The Little Princess.
She was a little genius alright. A very clever little girl.
Shirley certainly "came
up with the goods "...
An extraordinary
ability and diligence....
And such treats for
us now, to be able
to enjoy these
charming films
here on CZcams.
🤔5 mins 28 :
Shirley has a plain white
top on, but next scene :
a black scarf .... l.o.l😊.
No matter , really,
continuity slipped up,
the scarf was better
than just "plain " :
added definition..😊..
(watched again, Shirley
picked up the scarf before
leaving 😊).
Lovely film, as were
all the others.
I didn't see any
as a child , but we did
have an old fashioned
record player , Grandad's
gramophone : in a wooden
case, with a wind-up
mechanism, 78 r.p.m.
records ; short needles
that you sharpened
when they went blunt !
Real High - Tech ! 😊🎼
We had a record , think
it was a compilation of
Hollywood "clips" : one was
Shirley, with "On The
Good Ship Lollipop" :
"...Where bonbons
play , On the sunny beach
at Peppermint Bay "....
No wonder millions
thought so much of
Shirley....😊💕🎶🎼
🇬🇧💕🇺🇸🌹🎼😊🇬🇧
I also wish you have Ms. Annie Rooney and some films when Ms
Temple is a teenager
Apparently this comes from a 35mm source since the sound is at the fullest range that I have ever heard over the years. All other versions most widely seen have been 16mm television prints. By the way, CAPTAIN JANUARY is from 1936.
Nice 👌
I couldn't blame Star for calling the truant officer an old lady. Here she couldn't be much past 40. But as a kid I thought she was at least 60. Or older. She acted much older than she appeared.
Actually, I looked her up and she was 62 around the time this was filmed. I just thought she was a mature looking 40-ish person who acted older lol
Ithink she was a great actress and senator she was a great ambassador and she was an inspiration to all Americans women you can be anything you want to be if you work hard 😓 to achieve it and she did throughout her life ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Cool!
Movie was boring but toward end it got so good I was amazed by ending
So cute, american clapping dancing for young child 👏🏽🎉
Love this movie but I think it is way better in original blak'n'white features, as all others Shirley's masterpieces)
I like the colorful version

She is so cute
Super bien regarder films ( veuille ) mongionne fille 😊
I havev not found the connectipon buty there are several girls form Shirley's movies who were from Pocatello, Idaho.
The correct year that the movie came out was 1936. 🙂
era tão linda
Shirley Temple is related to my Daughter in law 😅
Deveria ser dublado, que pena! 😞 Querida Shirley Temple.🌹
👍👍👍💯💯💯👌👌👌💖👑🤴💐
I'm glas they didn't cast her as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.
The crane scene is at 16:05 ... You're welcome and I'm sorry!
This was made in 1936 not 1938.
Me gustó pero en español mejor muy buena película
