My Japanese Suzuki Kei Truck | Importing a JDM car from Japan to Australia | DIY Camper Build

- I was introduced to JDM Japanese Kei Light Truck Campers one Sunday afternoon, whilst watching CZcams camping videos. A trend that has changed my idea of travelling and camping. What an amazing way to camp! So small, and so adorable.
I loved my journey from finding out about these tiny houses on wheels, to my surprise, actually buying and importing my very own small Suzuki Carry from Japan to Australia.
I used 'J-Spec Imports' and the process was seamless. I am absolutely thrilled to now have 'COSY' (the name I gave the truck) join my family.
Inspirational Kei truck Channels featured in this video are:
Small Base Camp
Shido-Lab
The Japan News by The Yomiuri Shimbun
Please follow my journey as I build the cottage and then travel about in my micro 'Cosy Cottage Camper!'
Cheers,
Tamara

Let me know of any ideas you may have for the camper build? Lightweight framing materials, roof styles, internal layout etc...
A lot of Japanese YT channels to follow.Search Kei campers ,or something similar.
@keithhooper6123 Thank you 😊 Yes I am following quite a few channels to get inspiration and ideas. Especially light weight materials and small space design.
Really interesting project. I look forward to seeing how it turns out
You and me both!
In regards to ideas, we export a lot of these trucks from Japan each month. We've had customers transform them into snow ploughs, Fishing trucks, hunting stands, mobile advertising boardings, and various other ideas... there's just so much you can do with them. Glad you're enjoying yours!
@autoportalcoltd Oh wow that's lots of different options for sure! I'm absolutely loving the mini truck. I haven't seen many here in Australia so I get lots of looks wherever I take it. And that's not even with the camper on it yet haha. Thanks for your comment 😊
@@CosyCottageCamper You're welcome. Yes the scissor lift ones that people convert to hunting stands or wildlife stands are my favorite. Will be nice to see when you have the camper on!
@@autoportalcoltd Yes I like those scissor lift ones also. Very Cool!
Thanks. I'm currently building the camper frame. New video out this weekend!
very nice I hoop it can make your life better !
I"m happy that kei here in japan can be a part of your life in
Australia. From japan 🎉
@almondTaka Thank you. I am currently welding the camper frame. Stay tuned for the next video upload. I hope you are having a lovely weekend.
@@CosyCottageCamper Enjoy watching the video of you making your own
camper take your time and enjoy making it.
@@almondTaka Thank you. It's a slow process as I am new to DIY. Very exciting.
I’ve subscribed to see the progress!
@interested_in_things Thank you for subscribing 😊 I'm currently trying to weld the frame. It's taking longer because I'm terrible at welding haha.
Greetings from Denmark.
Is there any reason why you chose a Suzuki and this specific year/model?
Will a 0.667 liter motor be enough for Australia?
Thanks Ahmad for your kind reply.
There's a third party body kit to put jimny face on it. It just looks awesome 😎
@@ektherising haha is there... How awesome!! I'll check it out 😊
私も同じタイプです。😀😀🥰

@@aaaaaa-dr9ye Thank you.
How did you tag a 2020?
I was super lucky to get this car at Auction! Then I utilized a Melbourne company to help me with the import paperwork and customs clearance documents required to get it road safe for use in Australia 🙂
After forty years of Kei van, truck and car ownership, in the UK, it's still great to see new owners enthusiasm.
Thanks for your comment Keith. I am super excited to own a kei truck! These trucks are not seen much over here in Australia. What kei van, truck or car did you have in the UK? Any problems with them or parts?
Had four 550cc Acty. Now run Piaggio Porter diesel truck, Daihatsu Hijet camper, and Daihatsu Copen 1.3 car.Needed very few dealer parts, and all been super reliable
@keithhooper6123 Wow, that's awesome.
折角買うには、4WD
@user-kl4ki5bm9l I really wanted a 4WD but I won this one at auction at a really good price. I will upgrade in the future.
