  • Let's take a walk through eight of the most beautiful gardens in Hamilton County as decided by the Master Gardener's Association. These flowers, trees, shrubs, water gardens, rock gardens, and more will blow your mind as you look at what these home owners have accomplished right in their own back (and front) yards. And we'll throw in an elementary school passion project as well!
Here is a document with some details about each garden taken from the Master Gardener's website: docs.google.com/document/d/1t...
All music is licensed through Audiio.com.

I started this channel in order to document life as it gets lived. It's about where I live, how I live, where I travel, why I travel, and so much more. Eclectic is a good word for the content to be found here. I hope you will come along for the ride!

Thank you for doing this. Stop #4 was the most memorable to me b/c it showed their work spaces, which gave it a more personal feel.

Thank you for taking us along to all the beautiful home gardens!
In my city in New England we have a non profit Mill City Grows. They have planted gardens at all of our schools for the children to learn about gardening. It is wonderful to see as you pass by each school that there is a program like this! The children get to eat what they grow. Mill City has many community gardens too. People can get a small allotment to garden in. They give fresh veggies to the food pantry too. I think each child should have this experience (Retired Educator here too...and I have a Veggie and Pollinator Garden in my front yard).

Love all of them and could see how much work was put into all of them to make them so wonderful in their own way. Along with the other commenters I loved that you caught a picture of the fawn and even got it bleating for its mom, our does are about ready to parade their young ones thru our yard and I am excitedly waiting for the first one. Great job of panning around to get all of the wonderful plants and designs.

All were fantastic. Such a treat to see the fawn! My favorite flower is hydrangeas so I especially enjoyed seeing those. (I'd love to grow some but neither of my thumbs are green.) The school and #8 were my favorites overall. Would be awesome if flower and food gardens were part of our school system's requirements. (I retired after being part of my school system for 40 years so what do I know.) Thank you for sharing so I could see the beauty while I sit in the air conditioning in my Florida home 😊

What a great video....thank you. I love beautiful landscaping. The school making it a part of their educational experience was "spot on". More schools should incorporate gardening into a teaching/learning experience for kids.

This was really cool, Tim. I enjoyed all the gardens but liked the ones with Koi ponds the best. I have one planter out front between the driveway and front sidewalk with Xenia flowers. Heather and I plant some every year there. This year I planted seeds there that I harvested last November from last summer's crop. This is the first time our Xenias were free! On the back porch, We have a few pots with flowers in them. Keeping them and some new trees I planted this year watered helped my water bill hit $90 this month! It is a lot of work just keeping my extremely modest flowers alive. I can only imagine how much time these gardeners spend on theirs. Wow. Thanks for sharing.

Such beautiful gardens! You did a great job of zeroing in on special plants and features; I think the daylily garden showed up best with this treatment. I also loved the schoolyard tour. Your video was a great place to get ideas for what to try in my garden: different containers and different ways of doing a raised bed. the water features were spectacular. I only miss not having a real fel of what the whole garden or special bed looks like and for that you have to visit the garden and enjoy the wonderful sights and sounds of each one. Your tour certainly publicized the MGHC gardens and will encourage folks to visit next year! Thank you!

I think it’s wonderful that they have outdoor time for the special needs class. It would benefit all students though. Loved the video and all the beauty. I worked in a nursery for two years with my friend Deborah decades ago. I learned a lot including that I did have a green thumb after all. You should see her yard! 3 acres in the Shenandoah Valley. It’s a tremendous amount of work. She loves it though 😊

I absolutely love gardens and these are beautiful. Thanks for showing them. My favorite was #5 but #8 is beautiful too. Whenever I travel I go to botanical gardens. For years I was an avid gardener. When I was young and before we started the business I went on the local garden tours. So many people told me that my house should be on the tour, but I always declined. That is so much work to get it perfect for a tour.
My husband took care of the vegetable garden and the pond while I took care of the flower beds. After he passed I just can't get it all done by myself. I do the vegetable garden and a few beds in the front of the house and around the back patio, but the wild honeysuckle has taken over around the back 1/2 acre and behind the barn. The iris took over the pond and hopefully I will be able to get in there this year and clean it out so the water lilies have space. The pond is about the size of #2 with a waterfall like in #3. I haven't run the waterfall for two years because the neighbors English ivy has taken over and I need to clean that out too. There are a lot of frogs in there and some goldfish. I love to watch the deer and the turkeys who come through everyday. One doe just had her fawn and there is a turkey couple that come in with their 6 young ones. One year one of the turkey pairs had 23 babies.
My husband is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery which is the 2nd largest cemetery in the country (750 acres). It is also a level III accredited arboretum and botanical garden as well. In the 1800s it started out as a horticultural garden. A doctor's wife did not want to be buried in a ordinary cemetery so he got permission to bury her in the garden and that is how it began. There are 1000 civil war soldiers and officers buried there from both sides of the war. Every wealthy and famous person ( Johnny Appleseed, US Grant's parents, and General Joseph Hooker for example ) who lived in the area are buried there and it is an incredible place to visit. When my daughter brought her fiancé to meet us for the first time we told him that we would take him to see the cemetery. He thought what kind of weird family am I getting into. They also have weddings there in the old chapel and every month they give tours. www.springgrove.org/gallery/ czcams.com/video/jntqMDtGocg/video.html/ If you watch the second CZcams where the Sponge Bob monuments and the submarine monument are located they are in the area which will be my final resting place.

Obviously daylilies are a popular plant in your area. I was surprised at the lack of roses. I like the gardens with lots of flowers and couldn’t get over the size of the lilies in garden 8. I didn’t think they could grow that tall. I think i like the waterfall garden best. It’s a beautiful feature - can’t imagine the effort to build it

Thank you for making such a lovely visual summary/memory of the gardens on this year’s Garden Tour. I have subscribed, liked this video. I also shared your video with the two Master Gardeners who did all the hard work to make this possible. I also shared it with the MG Project Lead at the Alpine Crest Elementary School.
