  • I almost made a massive mistake in my college recruiting journey. In this video, I will share my recruiting story and some mistakes you don't want to make!
Getting recruited to play college baseball is a headache. Outside of the top players in the country who are wanted by everyone, it can be a frustrating process.
The amount of time and money I see wasted by families is disheartening.
If you want to save time and money and have a plan on how to attack the college recruiting process for your son, please email me at jonesbaseballtraining@gmail.com

Awesome! I'm seeking out all I can to develop a blueprint for my 9 y/o grandson to be the best that he can be in regards to BB. You just backed up my main message to him is to out practice every player you see being better than you in either throwing hitting or fielding and to become better than them. In the last 5 seasons (2yrs) of tryouts of LL he went from mid 70 draft pick out of 180 kids to 1st draft pick out of 140, 1st draft pick out of 196, 1st draft pick out of 100, 2nd draft pick out of 130. Along the way, multiple head coaches each season keep hitting me up to join them as top assistant coach so he would be a "coach protect" and skip the tryouts process. I said no to each request because I want him to know how to not only go through the tryout process but to prepare himself for tryouts in order to earn his way onto a team not him given a spot onto a team following me. BTW he accomplished another goal of his to get onto a Travel team. The kid relentlessly wants to practice every day to get better. And it's not me dragging him to the diamond. He wants me to take him, lol, love it. Thank you for sharing your recruiting process and experience at MLB, It adds greatly to guiding his pathway. I just subscribed.

Patrick, thanks for sharing your story.
Just wondering what life had planned after Xavier? What did you get your degree in?
Did you continue playing baseball after college?
Every 15-17 year old has dreams of playing in college, or the pros, but sometimes life gets in the way. Always have that back up plan in the back of your mind in getting that degree while you are playing baseball in college.
Be sure to update us on what you are currently doing since playing and graduating college, and how you got there.
Life always seems to work out

John, my degree was in Sports Management. I have stayed in the game every day since I left college. I played Independent Baseball for two years after I left college. After that, I wanted to get into coaching, so I started a baseball podcast (nearly 300 episodes now), coached high school baseball, and travel baseball, and was a Hitting Coach in the Baltimore Orioles organization. Now I help players with college recruiting and work with hitters at my facility.
