There was trouble in Afghanistan & Iran. Arab Sheikhdoms had begun developing. There was a rush of Pakistani labor to Dubai, Kuwait, & KSA. "Dubai Chalo" was a popular movie in cinemas. Javed Miandad, Sarfaraz Nawaz, Zaheer Abbas, Imran Khan, Asif Iqbal, Waseem Hassan Raja, & Mudassar Nazar played cricket for Pakistan. Fifty fifty was the most popular comedy show on PTV. Bell bottom, high waisted jeans and pants, oversized belt buckles, large cuffs, collars and wide lapels, unbuttoned casual, slim fit, tucked in shirts with bold patterns such as paisley or floral landscapes, oxford shoes and topped off with shaggy mullets, moustaches and pop rock inspired hairdos neatly combed over the ears. This reminds me of practically everything my dad used to tell me about in his stories from back in the day.. he was born in the 50's, youngest of 8 siblings, joined the army as a doctor and spent his entire life in a joint family setup. His parents and grandparents were among the once wealthy immigrants who left everything behind in Indian Punjab and started afresh here without "filling the claim forms" out of fear of retaliation from the family members who chose to stay back. I used to ask my dad everything about his childhood and family's history and hours would go by in a flash. I enjoyed every second of his stories. Our parents are among the golden generation and they'll live on in our hearts and memories forever.

The houses and scenes are exactly the way I recall them. With all its issues, those were some great times in Pakistan. I recently heard that the historic Metropole Hotel in Karachi is being demolished or has already been torn down. Sad. I attended Lawrence College, Ghora Gali in the mid 1970's and remember Flashman's Hotel in Pindi. I wonder if it still exists. Sweet memories. Thank you for uploading.

Look I'm not even from Pakistan but this video is amazing. Can't take my eyes off them beautiful stunning colourful flowers on the streets. So clean, so calm, so peaceful, simply devastatingly wonderful. I wish there was a time machine to go back to them days. I'm from this generation but surely I'd much, much prefer them days over now (every single day of the week).

O, my God my lovely peaceful city, where and when hatred was sowed in the hearts of citizens of Karachi, every thing is now disturbed.it is out of balance. Other cities in the world get updated, advanced and progressively constructed we are going backward, by the way it was 70's era PPP was in power you can not blame them. But thanks for sharing the video makes me cry and smiles at the same time lovely memories of the places there was Murree, Mall road there and Pindi and Kashmir points, nicely captured places in Lahore andon the way to Lahore.feeling like I have been to time tunnels. Thanks again.

This clip is around 46 years old. Pakistan was just 30 years old. A few differences that I noticed. You don't see crowds anywhere, even in public places and tourist sites. Roads are well carpeted and traffic is close to none. The streets, towns, and even bazaars are green; you see trees everywhere. And lastly, at 9:48, which I think is Mall Road, Murree, you see a big board of BOOK GALLERIA. I mean an actual book shop in Murree, how cool would that be?
It also saddens me to know what happened next. USSR invaded Afghanistan, Khomeini took over in Iran, Zia brought Islamization drive in the country. And the rest is just history.
