This new DVD marks the film debut of piano virtuoso, Vassily Primakov, performing the three Intermezzos, Op. 117 by Johannes Brahms, the four Ballades by Fryderyk Chopin, and the Sonata No. 4 by Alexandr Scriabin. Vassily Primakov has been hailed as a pianist of world class significance, the New York Times trumpeting his "fiery intensity" and his "bold, expressive phrasing and dramatic commitment that brought the audience to its feet." In 2009, National Public Radio named Primakov's Chopin Mazurka disc to its "Best CD of the Year" list, and American Record Guide raved: "In every piece his touch is perfect. This is a great Chopin pianist." Gramophone wrote that "Primakov's empathy with Chopin's spirit could hardly be more complete."
Very Refined, subtile piano playing. How anyone could not like this is hard to imagine. Primakov lived in every note he played.
I love these Intermezzi, and I think Mr. Primakov's playing is beautiful and appropriate.
I forgot how beautiful this piece was
A beautiful piece beautifully played. Thanks for posting.
Bless your heart Mr. Primakov...
What an unique and great Piano-Man Vassily Primakov is. 🌷🌷🌷 (Holland)
Exquisite interpretation - thank you
Spectacular 😮
MAGNIFIQUE !
I have never heard this piece before, but I must say, I think this version of the original is exceptionally well-done here. Or, at least, I assume that this is what the original sounded like.
amazing!! thx for uploading
Meraviglioso!!!
💎
Really nice interpretation!
Really nice
Bravo :-)
I'm learning to play this now but it's so difficult haha
All Brahms is difficult. He didn't write any easy pieces, like Schumann.
Practise it methodically and you will succeed.
1st section too fast ...see Schnabel version...but middle is exquisite!
Lovely! I wish the sound was coordinated with the video however.
wow. very sensitive...
it is it just takes the sound a bit more longer to travel to our ear from youtubeland.
What I would do with his technique! Brahms is long lines, perfect rhythm until you choose to let go for a particular purpose ...a must is keeping the whole piece in mind. Mr. Vassily get lost in individual phrases, and loses Brahms along the way. In my next life ...
I think as an artist it is perfectly fine for him to emphasize where he does. This is a beautiful interpretation by Vassily. Without Brahms being alive who knows where he might have let go and expounded certain passages. There is some phrasing that simply cannot be written in notation.
