- Jamie Lee Curtis had no idea of the impact that Laurie Strode would have on her life when she first auditioned for the lead role in John Carpenter’s “Halloween.” On the eve of her return to the role in David Gordon Green’s 2018 “Halloween,” she sat down for an exclusive extended interview with Rotten Tomatoes to talk about playing slasherdom’s ultimate final girl. What happened to Laurie when the credits rolled? What drew Curtis to Haddonfield to face Michael Myers one last - we think! - time. And what has Curtis herself learned from the role that has been with her for four decades? The scream queen reveals all in this deep-dive oral history of Laurie Strode.

I love that she got emotional at the end, it shows how much she really loves and respects this movie that made her career!
That's a great way to promote a movie : an actual insightful interview instead of an extended trailer ! Refreshing !
What a woman. She knows her character like the back of her hand.
Wow, seeing her get so emotional and choked up at the end really touched me. 😢 This movie that made her career and the character of Laurie Strode really means a lot to her. You can tell it's def not just about a paycheck. It's a passion project, with a lot of heart. ♥
Jamie's explanation of this and the fact that Laurie is basically the watchful protector filled with PTSD and has been prepping for 40 years for Michael's return had just sold me on this. She nails it.
Jamie lee is a legend , just love her enthusiasm for Halloween movies you can tell it’s a lot more than just a paycheck .
Dude her explanation of the character really struck a core with me. Like I'm really feeling the emotions she portraying.
Laurie Strode is always going to be my favorite horror movie protagonist.
You can see that the movie and the role changed Jamie's life and helped her to become the badass woman she is today! It's so nice that she has Halloween in her heart. Can't wait to see the new one!
Just watching this, really makes me want to see Halloween (2018) so damn badly.
She would be a hell of good story teller!
This interview, and what Curtis says about her character going into the new movie, is better than any trailer or preview they’ve made. I didn’t think I could
What a beautiful interview. I was engrossed in it. This is going to be amazing. Dammit, she made me cry at the end.
This is a phenomenal perspective on Laurie. Very in-depth and insightful. I have to be honest, I was never huge on Laurie. I always thought she just ran and defended herself. She was literally the final girl. But I saw the new trailer and it blew me away. I immediately became a fan of Laurie and got the new Fright-Rags shirt for the new film because this is the Laurie I’ve always wanted.
A true legend
I think the ending was beautiful. And not just because she started to cry, but the way she started to cry. And the reason why. I mean in that moment...you see just how much this character really means to her. Along with listening to all of the other profound things she said before the tears came...
Beautiful interview. There’s a reason why Laurie is my favorite character of all time and Jamie Lee Curtis is my favorite actor/actress as well.
I personally am thrilled that they took out the brother/sister plot, merely because the story became very convoluted, and to this day it doesn't make any sense why Michael was so hellbent in killing off his family members. Particularly in Halloween 4-6 with him chasing around his niece. Stupid. So yes, removing that angle and focusing on Michael being nothing but a complicated psychopath, and psychopaths do kill without reason or explanation, is far more scarier than Michael saying once again, "I need to find Laurie and finish her off." It would be H20 all over again. So good move, Blumhouse.
Watching this had made me even more excited to see the new movie!
She’s such an icon 🔥
