- This is a list of some of the best sounding movies that I have experienced in my home theater. Top 14 may seem like an odd number but these are the movies that left the biggest impression on me in my audio experience.

My favorite is Deep Water Horizon , a remarkable Atmos track, great list. The Shallows has the same audio on the Blu-ray. Monster Hunter is great, plus it’s available in 3D! Got’em all but 65.
65 is a good one to check out. Not the best movie but a decent weekend watch. And, both the audio and video are excellent. Definitely wait for a good sale.
extraordinary list, i would also mention: the lord of the rings trilogy, all the John Wick movies, The War of the worlds (first tripod scene is mind blowing)

Missing Jurassic Park and Top Gun - they started it all.

Tron Legacy is a very good one.
It’s 5.1 but still sounds pretty good till date.i use it for demonstration at my showroom and people love it
The Fifth Element Superbit (DTS) Edition is considered a reference sound DVD
Just grabbed Dune 2 UHD on Amazon. I saw it three times in imax. On the home system it delivers in every way. The best, full stop. Don't wait, it'll make the top of your list for sure.
I'm looking forward to Dune 2.
Micheal bay Ambulance was one of my favorite home theater experiences
I saw it on a streaming service. The picture looked razor sharp. I imagine on 4K bluray both the picture and audio is even better. I may check that out.
Thanks for the list. Along with the visuals the audio also plays a crucial in enjoy the movie to utmost. Your list is helpful, I have added your movies to my watchlist. In the recent watched movies, I have really enjoyed "War of the Worlds" & "I am Legend". Dune 1 & 2 is ultimate.

I was buying Monster Hunter with no expectations and it blew my mind, nice effects plus available in 3D, really enjoyed it.
Monster Hunter is definitely has some great audio and visuals.

Great list my friend! I would add john wick,13 hours, saving private ryan, gran tourismo,hacksaw ridge,fury,xmen, harry potter, battleship, fast and furious.

Sicario, great movie with a great score that sets the mood. Also Shutter island and dr sleep.
Sicario is indeed a good one. The movie is fantastic.
All the Bay Transformers sound incredible, namely Age of Extinction, it actually was the first Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos sound
As for other favourites, include Man of Steel, BvS UE, & Fury Road

Solid list there, and many people have made other great picks as well. I would probably add Black Widow to the list, some of the action scenes blew my socks off in the audio department.
Couple of my picks not mentioned. Underworld (collectors set 4k) very well redone audio tracks. Interstellar, Oblivion, The Batman (bat mobile scene is awesome). Skyfall (wonderful action scenes and music), "this is it" (Michael Jackson Live music is very good), Ford vs Ferrari (engine sounds and race scenes very good), Rogue One (good ambient and impact effects),

Nice list, two movies that really surprised me with excellent audio was "HOBBS & SHAW" & "DEEPWATER HORIZON" on 4K.
Audio makes or breaks a movie, if the picture quality is ok but the audio is really good then I'm happy.
Agreed. Audio definitely drives the level of immersion.
Thanks! Great suggestions. My suggestions will seem dated, but Saving Private Ryan, Stealth, Iron Man 3, and Marvel’s Avengers (I’ve sold a lot of systems using chapter 2).

I mostly use Blu-ray and find most of the audio seems to be dts, Kong Godzilla is Atmos, but very few have both, probably due to disc size. Ready player 1 has both, and is my favourite Atmos, but bladerunner 2049 has both, but the true Dolby is for descriptive audio!!! Great choices 🙃
That's a solid list...I would've added Midway , Kong : Skull Island, & Mad Max Fury Road.

I’d add the Batman, during the penguins vehicle crash and his car is rolling you can here it go from right side surround to overheads to left surround with other sounds on the rears. Another great surround one is transformers :dark of the moon. All have great surround sound though

Great list! I'm currently installing a basement home theater and will use all these recs. Quick question for you, did you perform any electric tweaks/upgrades like a dedicated circuit on your setup? Dedicated 15amp or 20amp? Just curious 'cause I'll likely hire an electrician to do so but was wondering how "critical" it really is and your setup is similar in power to mine. Have you tripped a breaker or pushed it to the limit? I hear that it is pretty rare to really pull too much but you never know these days with multiple amps or subs etc. Anyway, great video and thanks for helping our hobby!
Thank you. I had the electrician install a 20amp circuit for everything on the stand. The other outlets are on their own separate 15amp circuit. Its plenty of power. Never had a problem at all. I definitely push my system. Just had 2 monster 21" sealed PSA subs in for review and pushed them hard--no issue. Try watching the last voyage of the demeter . The atmos is really good and detailed sounds bringing you into the bales of the ship cracking popping and great thunderstorms as well as lfe through out the movie.

that movie is sooo amazing !! and so underrated !
Right as soon as I seen the video title Moonfall was the first movie that popped into my mind and wasn't expecting it to make the list. Not to many people talk about Moonfall being a reference movie for both audio and video. Many hate the movie but I actually didn't mind it. 65 was my second movie I thought of because that's another movie that not to many talk about and then first and second movies in your video is your picks. Anyways I like to pick some movies that are a bit less talked about:

Nice list. "Dune" deserves to be included.
Lord of the Rings, return of the king, the first scene with smigol turning into gollum is just fantastic.

Dune ist pretty good but i dont have the absolute reference moments in that movie. its just a very high quality throughout but never like " thats insane "
I also love the memories of dumbledore in the 8th harry potter movie. they nailed the mood of a "dreamy" world.

Nice picks. Just watched moonfall. Great audio. Check out The Incredible Hulk for full bandwidth bass into single digits and Underwater is a bass fest with nice sounds as well, takes place underwater.

Thank you. I've hear good things about Underwater. I may pick it up. I saw it once on a streaming service. I wasn't in my home theater and I was multitasking at the time and missed much of the movie.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire is a good choice too

Top gun Maverick is for sure my favorite but Pacific rim isn't far behind really stunning film with amazing audio

The latest documentaries in particular are very good. Visually stunning. And, audio is good.
aquaman 2 great sound and video better than part 1 and watched an older one today FACE/OFF great sound and picture kino lorber 4k.
I saw Aquaman 2 but not in my home theater. I'll have to give it another watch in my home theater. And, I have heard good things about Face/Off. I'll have to check that out. I appreciate the recommendations.

Flight of the Phoenix is insane for like 10 straight minutes.
U571 is great and doesn't get mentioned enough in these lists. Blackhawk Down, Behind Enemy Lines and The Outpost are also great sound for that genre. Best western gunfights Robert Duvall in Open Range and Broken Trail.
I'll add Enders Game, Jack the giant slayer, Gravity, Revenant and many episodes of game of thrones, the stand out being Hard Home.

I was surprised to find that the Criterion version of "The Others" had a Atmos track. First Bluray I've seen with one. People (or something) walking on the ceiling, things slamming shut. Very scary 😮

Black Adam. Not my favorite movie, but one of the best for audio.
Believe it or not, the first 1:45 of The Greatest Showman is pretty incredible.
Yes, indeed. The cave scene when Black Adam first appears stood out to me for audio. I streamed The Greatest Showman awhile ago. I may pickup the 4K.
Aquaman 2 stood out for me recently

Readers in the UK may wish to note that there is no Atmos on on our Moonfall.
I discovered that yesterday in HMV! Was surprised that the 4K doesn't have it. Had thought about getting the Blu-ray version for cheaper Atmos option but will have to import it now if I want to add to my collection. UK getting screwed over once again. 🤬
Thanks for the heads up. Not that it's gonna affect me anyway! I'm sick of watching shit movies just because it's got good audio. Funny thing is the ones that really impress me are usually the ones no one's ever heard of.
I always recommend The Island of Dr. Moreau and The X Files:Fight the Future. Of course no library is complete without U571.
I haven't seen U571 in years. I need to check it out. If I'm not mistaken, there was a fairly recent 4K UK release. Hopefully we get a US 4K release.
That's correct. Waiting for a USA release to see how it turns out. Another is The Core, a very spacious and clean sound.
