  • Our F-22 finally came in courtesy of @MotionRC, with Mobius 1's livery from Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies. Running on a full 17 channel setup, this is the most complicated aircraft we've ever built or tested for the channel - and it flies like a dream, earning an absolutely perfect score.

    Very nice setup! I am building a pretty light and high quality one right now. More for scale than speed but it will be light enough to be aerobatic as well. Like you said the amount of things that you can do with this jet is unlimited! I went with D85 all the way around last time around besided the rudders, they are great servos. Especially with the soft start feature and prograrmming of the Hitec Programmer. Cheers

    Oh man, awesome!! I have a F-35 and I like it, I've been considering the F-22 and this vid has caused me to finish my decision. I will be flying the F-22 as soon as I shift around some priorities to free up some greens. I really like watching you fly because that's the way I fly as well. I have a SU-35 that I flew into some kind of tight maneuver so hard it snatched the Velcro battery straps loose and the canopy and battery detached from the plane at about 125 feet. Somehow the SU went into kinda a flat spin and slowed enough so when it hit the ground it didn't explode. You know what I mean, that kinda foam just goes to fragments when you wreck. Anyway thanks for the vids and info.

I had it when it first came out but I was too inexperienced to really enjoy its true capabilities. I noticed that it was my easiest jet to land and that it was a floater - great lifting body. Thanks for the awesome content on this channel! You’re in a league of your own on camerawork as well as commentary/expertise, editing and pilot skills.
    A short question on this particular jet: What would you consider the _least_ important of elevons, flaperons and crow mixing, for aerobatic versatility (and general fun)?
    I’m wondering whether it can be meaningfully set up for an intermediate pilot using only eight channels. As far as I understand (I’m a noob) you would need those eight channels to get complete freedom with each of the eight control surfaces and thus have all of the options above plus the rudder airbrakes. Sacrificing those airbrakes (which I assume are of little aerobatic use) and assigning both rudder servos to the same channel would free up one channel for the throttle. To free up the last one for the gears the same would have to be done for the elevators (sacrificing elevons), flaps (sacrificing flaperons) or ailerons (sacrificing crow). Again - as far as I understand.
    Thanks and cheers from Gripen-land!

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Flaperons and crow mixing aren't essential. Differential stabilators are highly recommended though. Our current setup uses 17 channels, 9 of which are controlling all of the physical aircraft surfaces. It's great like that, but a simpler 8 channel setup can do most of it.

    How does the FW's F22 compare to the Viper 90?
    My Viper is starting to get beat up (mostly from landing , ironically) and, if it goes down really hard, instead of an ARF kit, I may just pull the motor/fan ESC, and receiver to a FW F22 ARF kit.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 6 měsíci

      The only things the Viper can do better are knife edge and high alpha, and the latter requires an 8 channel receiver. Stock vs stock, the F-22 is definitely a better jet overall, but not by much. The Viper 90 is E-flite's best jet in that class.

    How highly do you recommend tailerons? I received the 10360t for Christmas. Advantages of which are just increased roll rate? High alpha control authority?

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 4 měsíci +1

      We highly recommend them. The full scale F-22 uses differential stabilators for roll control and it's incredibly powerful at model scale. Without them, you can stall out at higher angles of attack and be unable to recover as easily. It doesn't help with high alpha stability (nothing would except fins on the belly) but it does help recover from stalls and make it possible to perform post-stall acro like flat spins, cobra spins, etc.
