    Here's the thing: It would be amazing if the curtain could be completely pulled back and all the participants agree "Share your truth and no offense, all is forgiven and forgotten"...but that's not realistic. That JJ, Blake and others are even willing to give us this much of a glimpse inside is awesome.

    No way the clips beat those 2014 Spurs imo, 2015 was a decent team though. Imho it's just tough to win without a star wing. Chris Paul might be my favorite player to watch all time, but he has to work too hard to score, it's just difficult to carry a big scoring load at that height. Griffin is a solid player as well, but he wasn't exactly the most skilled scorer on the planet, or an elite 2 way player. Clips had to play really tight in order to win, and that's tough.
    Winning a chip is difficult, and it's even more difficult to win when a team is relying on out executing the rest of the competition. It was equally as tough for Stockton and Malone to get done as well, regardless of pettiness and mental toughness.
    2015 was the best team relative to competition though. GSW figured it out the next year, and OKC was imo the best team in the league by the playoffs, but, in 2015 Warriors weren't really tested due to injuries, and they were always a little loose with the ball. Clips would of been the team to push them a little. It would of been a fun series.

      Youre right 2015 was def their best shot. They had all the momentum after beating the defending champs and then had the Rockets on the ropes. Overall tho they just didn't have enough talent. They always seemed like they were one piece away. Like they just needed a solid wing that could play passable defense and hit a corner 3. Someone that you can use on Josh Smith when he gets hot or put on KD and at least try to slow him down. Somebody like that would've taken a huge load off of Paul and Blake. I still remember in 2014 all they had was Dudley for KD lmao. The man was getting absolutely cooked every time down the floor.

      2014 Warriors were not fully evolved yet. They were already good and the potential was clear but they still were not the Warriors we all know now. They signed Kerr, key role player in Livingston and Green had his first breakout year the next season. 2014-2015 season was when the Warriors were finally fully unleashed. Also, that 2013-2014 Spurs team for some reason is insanely underrated nowadays. They were absolutely incredible and beat Heat in a dominant fashion. One of the most impressive NBA championship teams in the last 20 or so years by far. The reason for that Spurs team decline is the timing of their Duncan, Parker, Ginobili trio and their new two way superstar Kawhi. Before 2014 Kawhi was still developing and after 2014 age was really getting in the way of the legendary trio. 2014 playoffs was when Kawhi emerged as a superstar and the trio was still somewhat in form. 2014 Spurs were absolutely fascinating.@@Kirbystare1992

      Defense was weakness, especially at the wing (CP3 being the best KD "stopper" that the team could offer is a perfect example of this), however their offense is also was a big problem too, especially in playoffs. Their regular season offense was amazing but they couldn't keep the same pace during the playoffs. The coaching, schemes and sets were obsolete and they were clearly dragging behind much more modern Warriors, Spurs, Rockets offenses. Clippers were working much harder for their looks than their opposition. Maybe their offense was the way it was due to lack of elite wing or because of certain players not willing to give up their iso tendencies but the fact of their offenses becoming way less effective during playoffs in comparison to regular season still stands. Cavs were able to get away with more static offense in playoffs but unlike Clippers they had elite defense and they had LeBron as their wing. Moral of the story: work smarter not harder unless you have a wing that literally can do everything at the elite level. @@KB-qk1ic

      Not just mentally. More balanced roster, better coached, had better game plans and sets, especially in playoffs. Those Spurs and Warriors teams were magic and really well oiled machines with great defense and amazing free flowing offense while Clippers had tendencies to become a bit slugish and lack imagination/visions against playoffs defenses and relied way too much on CP3 and BG being their offense. Warriors and Spurs moved the ball and much more and in general played off ball much better getting easier better shots where CP3 and BG were often working like horses to get a decent shot for their team or were forced to take tougher shots than the opposition. No one reasonable ever put Clippers as the main contenders. In reality they were more of a dark horse/or tier 2 contenders behind the tier 1 contenders. Their flaws was always apparent (lack of good wing that isn't way past his prime and outdated offense relying way too much on CP3 and BG generating looks). It's just a lot of fans get mesmerized by their constant highlights making them appear more dominant than they really were and people blindly jumping aboard Doc Rivers train just because he has won the title with Celtics in the past with hall of fame trio and insane defensive talent along them). Still a really great team that made so many incredible memories along the way and the fact that they beat one of the most impressive defending champions -2014-2015 Spurs was absolutely incredible.

    It was pretty simple. The 14 and 15 clippers had the makings of a title team, but the only way for them to get there was if Blake made the leap to a true elite player. He didn't. CP3 is an all time great, but it is not easy for a small guard to complete take over games like big wing players like Durant, James and Kawhi. Even a smallish guard like Steph, an all time great player can get locked up in the playoffs and Finals. With CP3 being a great small man, Blake needed to step up, but Blake was more busy trying to be Hollywood, than really work on his game. and it showed in the playoffs.

      @sheyarjames4904 Před 2 lety

      Neither one of them is an elite scorer, I understand that CP3 is primarily a playmaker but considering how their team was constructed, he needed to be more like Steph Curry rather than Steve Nash, same thing goes for Blake like you said he didn't develop to be elite.

      Blake was elite in 2015. Go look at the playoff numbers and was elite in 2016 before he got derailed by injuries

      @@charlescooks9360 Blake was not elite in 2015, he had a very good year. Did play almost at elite level in the 2 rounds in 2015. 2016 was similar. Blake never had a truly elite season. never.

      @@sheyarjames4904 CP3 career high is 43. Especially in the playoffs, most teams have a way of bottling up a 6 ft guard not named Iverson in a way they can not dominate scoring AND control the game like CP3 would need to do. Lebron does that, but he is 6'10. Steph can score for sure, but asking CP3 to play like that is asking CP3 to be a different player. Ask Dame how hard it is to dominate scoring and control the game from the point in the playoffs. CP3 is an elite PG, but he would need a truly elite scorer to win in the playoffs. Booker showed us this in flashes how a team could function with a CP3 led offense and elite scoring wing. With Harden, CP3 Rockets were about to put an invincible Warriors team away in the playoffs before injury late in that series. That is how good CP3 is with an elite scorer. Blake as we agree, was never that.

    I LOVED that Clip team. By far my favorite team besides my home team. My adopted team. I was crusheddd when they lost in playoffs. Real talk tho I don't buy the excuses/reasons here, they had the talent to win a Chip. Every team got injuries, Willis Reed won a Chip on 1leg. Jordan dropped 36 w the flu. Giannis almost snapped his leg off in Gm5 (?) vs Brooklyn in ECF & 5DAYS later had maybe the greatest finals performance ever. "Mental Toughness" is weak AF.

    Blake have one of the greatest highlight reels of all time but I never thought he was a Superstar. He always been soft to me and unreliable in crunch time but most importantly he was injury-prone as well. Only one team has won a chip with a small pg being their toughest player.
