Perfectly understandable you missed the UK Christmas. But most families also prepare a big dinner in Germany for Christmas. Just not yours. But it is interesting and amusing to hear your point of view.
Had Christmas dinner 1976 in Elgin Road, Bournemouth: Turkey dry as sawdust, instant gravy, stuffing un eatable, probably also came out of the bag. Roast potatoes where OK. But even the children complained about 'school gravy'. Big disappointment. Emma's meal looks quite appetizing.
Turkey is often dry I don't know why it's such a big deal in UK at Christmas. Chicken is much better. The Germans mostly eat goose but their Christmas is mostly Christmas Eve when they have sausages with cold mix potatoes - then open the presents. I missed Christmas Day in UK when living in Hamburg.
