We have a crawfish festival every summer in Tualitin Oregon. Nothing better than a big plate of mud bugs! Enjoy my friend. You didn’t remove the gut sting. You grab the middle tale finger twist and pull. It removes all the poop in their system before you cook and eat them.
Down in Louisiana those are pure gold, people line up for a mile to get a sack of crawfish. A lot of people say the head is the best tasting part, you suck it out. Anyway, they boil them in Louisiana Crawfish shrimp and crab boil seasoning
I'm no expert in boiling crayfish but a recipe says to put only couple of crayfish at a time into the pot so the boiling won't stop, it is less painful to the creatures, and then boil them about 6 minutes (time starts when the boiling is rabid again). Also there should be salt, sugar and dill in the water too and the crayfish are left to the water after boiling. The pot with crayfish should be cooled down as fast as possible (with cold water in the sink), that way the crayfish gets more taste from the spiced water.
As a native Louisianan I've come to one conclusion. Northerners have no clue on how to prepare crawfish properly. Make no mistake, I love this channel.
For a much better butter dip, melt 8 parts butter gradually into 3 parts boiling water. The butter emulsion is preserved for much better taste, mouth feel, and coating of the crawfish.
Well at least now I know the truth about crayfish cooking when their fresh. I got told years ago when I was in the scouts in the 80's that you had to boil them like five times before eating them. Now I know that was a story. Anyways Ive had store bought crayfish, but seeing this I might go to the nearest crick to catch them. They really look good, great video.
Always purge for 24 hours, or remove the gut (poop) just like a shrimp has, by twisting the middle fin on the tail and gently pulling it out with the entire digestive tract. Also, you should use a crab boil, or Old Bay type seasoning when you boil them. Try it on your next batch and you'll enjoy them a lot more. Purging is uber important imo.
Those look like the main species that I see all the time here in Southern Ontario, Canada. I found a really vibrant completely blue one a couple years back. I was going to keep him in my aquarium, but just decided to take some pictures and then put him back to hopefully make more little blue guys. 🤠
I have only had Crayfish once, and i jusr had like two claws. But i was told you can either crack them open, or do like some kind of crack at the head and suck all of it out or something! I dont know which people do tbh! Looks awesome!
Try adding some Zatarain’s crawfish boil powder. Do you have a PO Box I’ll send you some❤️😍 you need to come down to south Louisiana and eat them! I’ll teach you how to peel them 😝😉😂
Imagine being boiled alive.. Dont make excuses about dead instantly. They are not! Dispatch them first. Most don't because it takes time.. Boiled alive...
They still die fast, i wouldn't do it my self but they are small so the heat transfer will kill them very fast. since you say imagine being boiled alive yes a human would suffer a lot if it were to happen to them but we are big and the heat would kill us slowly. we are not the same don't use the same logic.
When do you cook the beavers?
😂😂😂

🤮He ate poop
@@SmartyPantzShoBiz he picked around it on the one he ate on camera
U should purge them. ( Soak them in salty water, then rinse them in regular water. )
Yummy with butter
Some old bay seasoning and lemon in the boiling water will make it way better.
Two suggestions.. Try a baited trap. You'll catch more. And season with Old Bay crab boil. We catch and eat a lot of bugs down here in Georgia.
Did you renovate, Post? Your kitchen looks amazing.
That's not my house

Seen people put Old Bay seasoning in the pot of water when cooking them. Guess it gives it some good flavor
in sweden its customary to starve em at least 24h before you cook em. recipe is sugar salt beer and dill

@@Weise1001 Well, I'm not the one attempting to cook on CZcams. The information is available to anyone. And you can GFY.
@@jbmorgan57 LOL good for you ? if u wanna play sassy, get it right
He cooked them the way New Englanders cook lobster, it’s almost like regional cuisine is a thing.

I’ve never seen crawfish before. I thought you could only get them in the south
nearly every freshwater river in America has them, they just get alot bigger along the gulf coast
Thanks. I’ve always lived in the Midwest.
Northerners Cray fish ...... Crawfish crawdads mudbugs
I like mine with more seasoning and some good corn and potatoes. They’re a massive amount of work and make a huge mess but are so delicious.
Post is back in Canada!
I love your kitchen. That is a great sink to have.
That's not my house
Thats alot of work for very little meat, I'll stick to my Maritime East Coast lobsters! Good little free feed tho!
Yummy 😊
did you put one in the big pond ?
Kitchen looks great! Maybe my imagination, looks like a new countertop. New stove? Great video! Used to hunt crawdads in Missouri!

@@post10Vlogs ah, that explains it! 🤣🤦🏻♀️
The big ones(lobster) are pretty cheap right now.

Did u put any seasoning in the pot? 🤔
I did not
Here's LDs chance to contribute. LD! GO get your mamas recipe and post it here 😊
@@post10VlogsWhat do they taste like? Fishy or like lobster maybe?
Easy call here. Zatarans crawfish boil. Or zatarans sheimp boul. Premixed seasoning you just dump in the water. Done.
Adding some Old Bay Seasoning to the boiling water or the butter is a great addition. Don't neglect to suck the heads out.
Lemmiwinks, lol nice.
Hopefully you played the lemmiwinks song from southpark when it passed
Subtle kitchen flex 😏 I see you post10
We have loads of crawfish in Texas. They’re tasty

How much meat would you get from all those crayfish? Doesnt look like a large volume.
It is not. It Gets to the point where you're hurting your fingers. Opening them before you're even full
Did you remodel your kitchen? Looks very nice.

True. Post should've boiled enough for all of us.

The only thing cruel about it is that he didn't even season them.
