I dont know if its only me but I feel each year ISAC is getting more serious. I used to have a love-hate relationship with ISAC because its extremely dangerous but at the same time it used to give us so many fun moments like legendary kenjindeul water bottle race, btob archery costumes or sehun mistakenly talking to jeonghan but last few years such things are nowhere to see. Idols are focused on sports only and its hard to see any fun anymore. I wish there were groups only joining to have fun so they can warm the atmosphere

What made Moonbyul's fall even worse was that she had hit her old injury spots on her knee and chin(she was involved in a bus accident in the past). Girls from another group who stood close to Mamamoo revealed that after playing it off on-cam, Moonbyul went to the bathroom and cried because it hurt so much. It's sad to know how badly idols have hurt themselves in the competitions, they don't deserve to suffer so much for something that isn't even their main job in the first place😔

I'm glad you mentioned the slippery track because since I saw I.N. from stray kids fall during a race, I've always thought about how weird it is they don't just use a stadium with an actual track in it for such a high profile event. Idols from huge kpop groups have participated in these events, & the Korean public have repeatedly expressed that idols must be protected & treated with the utmost respect, so seeing just how many idols slipping & falling on it because there is no traction, I don't understand why they wouldn't change it.

4:37 it may sound like a stretch but i blame isac for tao’s departure from exo. Or at least they were part of the reason.
The reason Tao left EXO was due to mistreatment and health issues on his back and legs. If you knew about Tao, he was known for being good at martial arts, so Sm always had him doing all kind of stunts for the groups publicity. The injury he got at ISAC was the first of so many more to come, and since SM never let him rest and heal properly; they damage kept building up for almost 2 years.
It got to the point where he literally broke the ligaments of his foot, had a back problem and ultimately had to use a wheelchair and crutches; all while he was still forced to dance for the Call me baby MV and participate in the group activities.
Tao has speak about all this, years after leaving the group. He explained that he wanted to stay in the group, that he endured a lot of the pain because he liked the members and wanted to be part of exo. If you remember at the time, Tao repeatedly assured his fans that he would never leave exo. At the end, it was Tao’s dad that had to pull the moves and literally had to force Tao to leave the group. His dad explained in a letter, that it hurt him to see his only son being in so much pain and with severe injuries at his young age. At the end Tao left exo, got treatment for his injuries, healed properly and started his solo career in China.
At his fan, i was extremely sad for his departure but i quickly felt relieved to see him actually taking care of himself. In later interviews, Tao has shown the scars that all these injuries left on his body and how he could’ve have lost mobility of his leg if he hadn’t left sm.
I somehow blame ISAC because it was this injury that was the “beginning of the end”. Like a butterfly effect.

I think isac is a good idea but it has to change a few things like idols have to stay there for hours that can explain why so many of them get hurt (the exhaustion). They could do it in two separate days or something, they are already making idols go so might as well use two days, that way they can rest (and also the fans). And also sports that can hurt idols easily should not be done.

They also get more recognition, for other skills other than singing and dancing. They also get to make more friends and possibly date someone(this should be normalized), or interact with someone they are dating(also should be normalized). How the staff treats the idols needs to change and the track they use for relay races should also change. They're physical health is very important. Also I think they should have a better layout of the games they're playing rather than having them film for 20 hours. I also think ALL members on the team should be able to participate in at least one event. They also should switch it up and mix the teams together, but i doubt that'll happen.

And that training will take you years to perfect, and since idols usually are not trained for these types of injuries i think ISAC is not clearly not doing it right.
As to all the soccer injuries i think they have a too small field basically made for injuries if not carefull, and soccer is, belivie it or not, a really dangerous sport even if the field is large, like the one i play on injuries happen ALOT.

I remember watching this show and loving it due to the idols interaction with each other. It showed actual human connection, care and emotions. I do whole heartily believe that MBC, ISAC and possibly even the companies are responsible for injury as the idols ARE WORKING to film this show so WORKERS COMPENSATION. Dancing is so taxing on the body already...you push, pull and force your body in unnatural positions. Add in sports incorrectly and you have a receipt for disaster. Injuries are reasons why there is special flooring for dance and sports, why there's different clothing and why there's different warm up techniques and training.
Rest is SUPER IMPORTANT to prevent injuries and recovery and the idols already dont get enough as is. To ask someone to shoot 20 plus hours on top of their hectic schedules without getting injured for possibly the rest of their life, youre asking too much.
And before its said that the idols sign up, it doesn't matter. You hold an event, any event with mass amounts of people in a small area, you damn make sure you have a medical team ready to jump, make sure everyone and everything is proofed on safety hazards and ALL heed caution. Negligence causes injuries and even death.

There's always upsides and downsides to things and it really should boil down to if the idols want to do it. Field day events happen throughout a person's school career and those typically aren't judged by professionals in individual fields. Injuries also happen in private off times such as gyms or outings to the park for examples. The only major difference being broadcasting of the event. So I think if they aren't pressured into it by means of lack of opportunities for music shows or acting gigs if they don't go and that they actually enjoy the activities of it than I don't see any issue with it. Providing that training, first aid, and safe environment is provided. In the future the better environment would probably be an actual track and field environment where things aren't stuck to the floor with vinyl lanes and field. But since it is a good way to allow them to have fun and enjoy time with fellow idols and fans. It also gains added exposure of newer groups and gives new comers to meet veterans of the industry in a less stuffy environment.

It does make sense that the companies want their idols to participate in this events in the middle of comeback promotion, but if they have to overwork themselves just to become better in a sport which isn't guaranteed you will actually get anyscreentime, then it's simply not worth it

Yeah if it was more variety style, it wouldnt have this much injuries bc it would be more laid back, without the rules, intensity and duration of real sports.
I almost forgot the mistreatment from staff workers to idols....

It's worth mentioning that a not-insignificant amount of idols have varying levels of high skill in sports, like VIXX's Leo (played on the national soccer league, so pre-pro, until he tore his ACL in high school) or GOT7's Jackson (nearly-Olympic level fencer). It IS super cool to see these idols in an entirely different context and also to see the passion they have for their respective sports, but that doesn't outweigh the risks of injury.

It's such a shame because I always thought ISAC was fun to watch. Some idols are athletic and love sports and had previous experience in them (Bang Chan being a swimmer, Yuta training for soccer, Chengxiao in rhythmic gymnastics). Or they got to try something new like archery and foot volleyball. I always thought idols were picked based on previous experience they'd had in the respective event they were competing in or ones that wouldn't need intensive training to try and learn. Hearing how the companies have forced a much more high level intense competition breaks my heart because ISAC was always supposed to be a place for idols to mingle and have some lighthearted competition away from the stage.

Idols were probably so happy that ISAC was canceled for 2020/21 lol it sucks that there aren't better precautions for injuries, im glad they stepped it up but all of those should've been there from the beginning

It’s a fun program and it’s cool to watch your favorite idol groups interact but it should be managed better :( there’s always a possibility you can get injured when playing sports!!

Wow .. frankly, it had never crossed my mind how much they prepared and demanded themselves for that event, I thought they were just having fun, not that they took it so seriously, I mean accidents happen but they don't have to overextend themselves so much and hurt like that ... not worth it🙁

Omg I knew Woohyun had a shoulder injury but didnt know it was from ISAC. Thanks for exposing the truth. Many fans dont know what truly happens to their idols in these events. People only know ISAC as the dating spot for idols LOL

I think the isac is an very fun idea because it can act as a mini vacation for the idols but at the same time, yeah the lack of safety was astounding.
