You really realize who REAL has the upper hand when you hear Viper saying, "Come on Mav! Keep comin! Keep Comin!" He is the predator posing as the prey.
Viper preyed on all of Maverick's weaknesses. He knew Maverick was a cowboy, and needed to teach Maverick a lesson about teamwork. Viper understands the Skyhawk is known for its maneuverability, so he bounces all over the place. He never moves in a straight line, and by constantly turning and changing his position, the radar can't acquire a lock. By shifting his position, Maverick has to make adjustments to try to keep the A-4 in sight and keep it time to get a tone. All the while, Viper knows that Jester got Iceman, and he is waiting for Jester to come from behind Maverick and take him out for abandoning a teammate for the sake of trying to be a hot shot.
No. It was no contest. Remember, Viper knew the F-14's weaknesses. Viper could've bounced around in the sky, forcing Maverick to not get a lock. A pilot of Viper's skill could easily go on the offensive anytime he chose. Viper also knew that with Hollywood taken out because of Jester, Jester was flying to Viper to back him up. Then, Jester could have engaged Maverick from behind or it could have been 2 on 1. Either way, Maverick was destined to fail because he abandoned Hollywood for the sake of being a hotshot trying to go after Viper. That kind of attitude will get any killed. You never leave a teammate behind for any reason.
AIM-9 ain't radar guided. And for IR he can move all he wants, important are counter messures. Also the HUD isn't even correct. The A4 isn't even made for dogfights and wouldn't stand a chance against F-14.
I think Goose was very confident about Hollywood get Jester but, above of all, come on! Maverick vs the best pilot on the whole world! That was being an amazing dogfight and Goose just became a privileged spectator! He just forgot his job. And also, he really believed that Maverick could get Viper! I just love this scene.
Viper had such a difficult assignment training Maverick right. He knew in most engagements a pilot like him is a massive liability, yet in a total war situation such as Midway or Battle Of Britain, he's indispensable. How to deal with that quality without either diminish him or inflate his ego?
I think Hollywood could have mentioned something like "I'm defensive, I'm hit, etc..." more so than expecting the WSO to keep his head 180 while maneuvering.
I always loved how much the background music added to this dogfight. If anybody knows the artist(s)/song title of this instrumental, I would love to know.
It's called Hop 19. Version with jets engines in the background : czcams.com/video/nGLSojtjsw8/video.html Clean version : czcams.com/video/7neCQ6r6K4w/video.html Late of 10 years so I hope you're still there.
I don't think anyone with there own copy writ would enjoy that attribute.soliciting is a bigger issue than you know.if it already record you might try looking it up through the original company.hooe that helps.
The soundtrack for this clip is the best dogfight song ever. Period.

I love Michael Ironside's voice lol
Michael Ironside gave a underrated performance as the character Jester.
" See you at graduation Maverick. " - Jester ( probably (
He’s Sam Fisher too
This screen has the 2 best Viper lines in the film " Good morning gentlemen the temperature is a 110 degrees " & "Damn this kids good"
How about? "Come around. That's it."
"You TOOK it!"
You really realize who REAL has the upper hand when you hear Viper saying, "Come on Mav! Keep comin! Keep Comin!" He is the predator posing as the prey.
There was a scene where Viper asked him is that why you fly the way you do just to prove his father was a top flight pilot.
no no, boys, theres 2 O's in goose
lol saw this movie today, great movie

All the while tho, mav had viper, viper knew it toward the end that if the engagment had continued he would of lost.

@@patrickmartin2689 This might be hard to believe but jet fighting is still a real thing too 🤯🤯🤯
Hollywood does not seem to care to radio in that he has lost Jester.
In all fairness, they are simulating battle. It's not like he should be able to call after "dying".

I just love this scene.
Talking to you from the future. Wait till you see Maverick. Lols.

you never ever LEAVE YOU4RE WINGMAN
Woah!!!! Rock 'n Roll! Here is our chance and it's a big one Goose :D
Oh Yes, Goose, you and Maverick are going head to head with Viper.
Part of through the fire and a wee bit of danger zone.
Goose!? wha....wheres he goin?
"Vipers up here, great!"
" Great, He's sayin Holy shit its maverick and Goose!
"Yeah i bet he's sayin that!" LMAO
Right on the money
Like if it wasn't for the fact he immediately bails to get him telling Goose to keep an eye out for Viper was at least decently reasonable.
You're outta there, kid!

are you confused ? it just a movie with fantasy story.. dont compare children movie with real war
Mav’s thinking: I’m gonna go straight to graduation after I bag Viper.
0:14 how War Thunder players react when they realize The Mighty Jingles is in the same match as them.
Just started war thunder today and that's my reaction when an enemy starts flying towards me
Chris Teet "Howdy folks! Welcome back to another episode if War Thunder."
"Holy shit it's Jingles!"
Ironically Jingles IRL almost got his ticket punched by an exocet-- the same weapon that triggers the third act climax.
good job!
Ah, this kid is good.
I love this soundtrack when Maverick and Viper go at it!
You forgot computerfan9 4....GREAT BALLSSSS OF FIRE!!!!
Top Gun OST 03 - Harold Faltermeyer - Viper's Dog Fight
Goose needs a slap, keep an eye on the rear man ffs lol
I think Hollywood could have mentioned something like "I'm defensive, I'm hit, etc..." more so than expecting the WSO to keep his head 180 while maneuvering.
@workingthejab Nevermind. I found it. I should of known it was Harold Faltermeyer. He composed so many awesome instrumentals.
@engrguy83 True but i guess Goose was upset when he said to stay with Hollywood but Maverick decided to take on Viper instead
if hollywood would of kept up with jester maverick would had viper

Seven letters, in italian, it starts with "m".
What is the theme of this scene?
All that and they get nailed by Jester. 💔 Totally heartbreaking
He kills through deciving
Holy Shit it's Viper!! I'd just get Jester cause Viper would've shot me out of the sky
doubtful, viper was going slow and low on purpose to let jester catch up on mavrick. surely viper would have flown differently if it was 1 on 1.
niceeee!"
@spartans12able I say that if he had ice up there instead of Hollywood they would have taken viper and jester clean.
HOLLY SHIT!!!!! IT'S VIPER!
Headass Hollywood
