  • Rescuezilla is a free and open source backup and restore program so you can backup your computer. Rescuezilla is Clonezilla with a GUI, a graphical user interface so it makes it user friendly and easy to use. I will be backing up my Windows 11 machine to a USB hard drive and then restoring it.

Just used Rescuezilla today to clone my 500 GB 960 EVO to a new 2 TB 990 EVO; after the clone, via included Gparted, just moved the recovery partition to the end, then expanded the main partition to take up the rest of the unallocated 2 TB drive... (Preferred this to Acronis, which seemingly tried the clone completely within WIndows, and, still left the large bulk of the drives space *after* the recovery partition; since Gparted use was going to be needed anyway, just redid the whole thing in Rescuezilla and it's included Gparted)

Hey, is there anyway a can get just the version of Clonezilla that Rescuezilla uses so I can add it to Linux Mint? I didn't care for Clonezilla until I tried this version. Now I would really like to have it as a separate program to run in Mint. Thanks . They have made this so useful and easy to understand. I don't really like keeping another Operating System around just so I can use this version of Clonezilla. Thanks again.

I tried Rescuezilla, it wouldn't run on my Dell XSP 9360. Fortunately, most recent Live USB images of Linux have Gnome Disk and Gparted, or can install them relatively easily. With those two you can clone you drive fairly easily. Maybe not a convenient as Rescuzilla, but good enough.

I want to clone a drive from one computer to another computer. I can't do it in clonezilla because it doesn't see my NIC but rescuezilla sees the NIC but doesn't have the option to clone across the network like clonezilla does.....Am I missing something? The only way I can see is if I have a spare large drive and back up and then restore. That is a 2 step operation where the direct clone was done and I didn't need a spare drive. Oversight?

When it images the C Drive, does it also image all the boot/MBR/UEFI information?
If my drive doesn't boot, either due to OS partition or the MBR/UEFI, I'd like to just restore *EVERYTHING* in one step. Does Rescuezilla/Clonezilla do this, or would I need a paid software (Easus TODO, Macrium Reflect, Lazesoft, Acronis, etc)?

Yes, Rescuezilla/Clonezilla will do this. By default, all partitions are selected. The MBR/UEFI data will be backed up.

In Clonezilla select Device instead of Partition.
Device includes all partitions on the device.
The POSIX designations for devices is: sda , sdb , sdc etc
      For partitions it is: sda1 , sda2 ,sda3, sdb1 sdb2 etc
So if you select device to image and sda it will include sda1 , sda2 ,sda3
If you select Partition to image and sdb2 , only sdb2 is copied to image
