My wife and I visited in 1989 and at that time the pyramid could be climbed if you had the nerve. With its short steps ( common to every structure there ) it wasn't easy and once at the top you found yourself in a small plain little room. Going back down was the real challenge even with a rope to hold on to. My wife went back down backwards one step at a time. If not careful one could easily tumble down the steps as I guess some did. The view from the top was impressive. The temp and humidity that day was 100 degrees with almost no shade anywhere. It was a brilliant experience and a very long day.

i must have missed the city outside. I just remember the bus ride was through a bunch of third world looking villages and then when we got to chichen itza there were like 50 army dudes with assult rifles guarding it.

Nice video, went here in 2001, at that time you could still go inside the pyramid and climb it. I can't believe they used to allow it.

I had fish prepared on the beach here after a day of offshore fishing. Rough day at sea. 🎵🌌⏳. Was in Cancun 30 years ago.
I heard its great to visit Chichen Itza during the fall or spring equinox.

Actually...were selling a Cancun package, which is 80% discount all inclusive vacation. I can really tell that this is our most top tourist destination, and also our Cancun Underwater Museum, Xcaret, Cenotes and Coba.
I went on March 13 and we didn’t get no ear piece nor bottle water nor beer ! And we went to the cenotes first and the the pyramid I’m going next year I hope they provide this !!! N we got experiensias xcaret bus
The pyramid is actually called el Castillo which means the castle ! Fun fact it has 365 step which is also the number of days in a year .
