What's your favorite 2-Player only game?
Watergate
Valley of the Kings. Such an underrated game and it shines at the two-player count.
Fox in the Forest! And Kahuna is a very, very close second.
Thunder and Lightning.
Chess :P
You two are just adorable ! When I have no one to play with I just sit and watch your videos and the world seems to be a better place :-)
That is so stinkin sweet of you to say! Thank you for spending your time with us. You are the 3rd at our table! (Well... not this game... but you get next! LOL)
I literally have this game in my Amazon shopping cart, wondering whether I should buy it or not, then my favorite board game youtubers upload this and everything in the world is suddenly okay and awesome. Freaking love your videos. Never stop making content, please!!!!
Thank you!! I love that you‘re reviewing older games as well. My friend and I played this regularly for years. Looking forward to the series! :-)
Thanks for checking it out! We love going back to “older” titles through our designer series! 😋
Wow the more I watched the playthrough the more I could see how many mechanics are subtly interwoven in this game.... I’m actually mindblown without ever having played it. Going to have to get this for me and my fiancé... great playthrough as always you two! Sending love.
I was literally unboxing and punching my copy of Patchwork then opened CZcams and see this first... 🤯 🔮
No one can be told what the Matrix is...
... you have to see it for yourself...
I love this. I've recently fallen in love with board games and you two are the best reference/springboard. Rosenberg will most likely be my favorite designer and your playlist has been so helpful and entertaining. TY guys!
It's weird to see you two playing a game that I had for years, but I still watched it. I loved this game so much that I bought 'Paris: La Cité de la Lumière' to add more strategy. Both are amazing games!
So excited you guys are doing Uwe Rosenberg! I LOVE his games and have been waiting for this. Thank you, thank you!
Lovely video as always Naveen and Monique! Thanks for spreading so much joy in the world!
This is a favourite of my 8 year old son! And - he is ruthless!
Haha how cute!!
Wooo!! Uwe Series!! Just bought Kanban EV and On Mars today because of your videos! Keep up the awesome content!
One of our (wife and I) favourite games and is one of the first games in our collection (started last year just before lockdown).
Looking forward to the series. Great production, as always 😊
Great choice! Patchwork is awesome. If you haven't tried it, 7 wonders duel is IMO the best 2p game ever. It takes 20-30 minutes to play and is easy to teach.
Yes! Definitely our most fave 2p games.
We're so glad we got to play this one again. We wrote it off several years ago (for no apparent good reason...). It's great!!
@fuloran1 Yes love 7 Wonders Duel, still haven't tried it with the expansion though. 😁
Great video as always! Love your content
Love this game, as I love your reviews. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
Uwe 😍😍😍😍
This is a very well designed game. Simple to learn but, as you said, there is an emergent strategy that deepens the experience. Impressive.
“Your cross is the diet version of mine” haha
This was such a fun Playthrough to watch!!
We just played this game for the first time last month and really enjoyed it! This made us want to play again. Definitely a good game to have in the collection when you need a relaxing yet stressful game ha
Looking forward to the rest of the series! ☺️
Yessss Uwe! I’m definitely looking forward to Le Havre.
I've been playing Uwe Rosenberg games my whole life apparently. Somehow, some way, she doesn't remember from where, but my mother bought a copy of Klunker 20 years ago. It had German rules only, so my dad printed out a translation from BGG. When I got older, I bought Agricola, probably because I saw it was #1 ranked and was young and dumb enough to not understand what that actually meant. Ten years later it ends up being one of my favorite games anyway.
This is the first “designer” game my son learnt to play, back when he was 3. He also always went for the 7x7 bonus 😁. Still definitely one of my favourite 2P games.
A great way to start this series!
It begins... :) Off to a great start, Patchwork is probably my favorite 2 player only game, I just love polyominos.
SO IT BEGINS!!!
It has arrived!!
Very interesting strategy starting from the middle, I think it led to Naveen skipping one of the best pieces already at 13:30. I have always thought starting from one corner is the optimal strategy, but I will have to test something else next time we play. Thank you for reviewing a light game for a change :)
This is our favorite 2 player light game with my wife. It's simple and quick but it's always somehow satisfying. I am at the point where I want heavier games and more and more... But we still keep coming back to this.
This is one of those games that I've always meant to try and haven't for some reason. Looks like it's so fun!
Great video! We've been wondering if we should try this, now planning to play on Tabletop tonight :) Can't get enough of your videos!
Which bowls do you use for your components? Would love to see a 'gear and upgrades' video someday!
One of these games I will never get rid of. It's so well designed and easy to get to the table, everybody understand the rules in a few minutes.
I adore you guys!
My favorite 2 p only games...are the ones YOU play! 😭 ya’ll make everything look fun I swear hahah but I do really like the time economy you mentioned here-games where it makes me feel like “ah I should’ve done this” or “next time I need to grab that tile earlier” always increases replayability fo me!
Great video! Patchwork is my favourite game. It hides a lot of complexity behind what is at first glance a simple game.
Absolutely, so glad we circled back around to it!
can't wait to see whats next1
Just tried azul - lots of fun. Going to get patchwork now!
My parents have this game, when I first saw it I also just wrote it off. Being into bigger, more complex games I thought it'd be not for me, but I found it to be surprisingly good.
Of course this was before I learned about certain designers and such, now I put much more value on a game depending on who designed it.
This was fun to watch! :) People aren't kidding about the negatives though. I played a game yesterday where I scored -2 hahahah
"This will be on the list, guaranteed" (*not guaranteed) lol
My best games of this I scored 23 (with the 7x7) and 22, with 4 and 5 spaces left open (the final scores already account for the negative points of those spaces). I'm still very proud of that achievment lol, I have pictures of the board.
This is a great game. It does offer everything in the right amount - the thinkyness, the play time, the fun.
Simple rules and not a long game but I really like the strategy. Especially if you keep playing with the same opponent over and over because they are growing their strategies too. Tense enough and very fun
This was a wonderful Game!!
Agreed 100%!
Enjoy this game. My daughter is 5YO and we play Patchwork Express a bit. It’s a really accessible game. Enjoyed seeing a video featuring a game that has been out for a bit.
Rosenberg made two of my favorite games of all time: Bohnanza and Bargain Hunter
I'm very smitten right now with Jekyll vs. Hyde (asymmetric trick-taker) but the one we've played the most is probably Jaipur. Classic for a reason
Hi Great Video! I just got patchworks myself! I couldnt help but ask where did you guys get that grey table mat?
Just saw a Halloween edition that is soon coming! Should make for a spooky good time 🎃 👻
My board game hobby started during Covid and with lockdowns here in Ireland I focused on 2 player games for me and my wife.
Even now nothing really beats a glass of wine and some brain teasing puzzle, plus a small dose of competition!
We have Targi, Caesar and blitzkrieg. How do you think patchwork compares? I love the agonising over decisions that comes with these games and knowing that second place means last place 😂
Such a good game!
Yeah! 1st time we played it we didn't appreciate it. 😱
This was the first polyomino game I'd ever played, and I was disappointed. Next was A Feast for Odin which, though I loved the polyomino section, I didn't like enough to keep after eight plays. Then Indian Summer, which I liked a bit more. But my favorite is Cottage Garden! It's a very slick little game.
Hope you are proud of yourselves. This video made me buy a game that wasn't on my radar! I will let yoy know how it goes once I try it with my girlfriend
Hi Raul, we hope you both enjoy it! Love how quick it is to teach and how easy it is to get into!
@@BeforeYouPlay Just to let you know that by now I played it a bunch with my gf and even with my sister and it becoming kind of a competitive sport haha... soon we will do our own premiere league
Speaking of designer series of games... I'd like to see one on the "T" series: Tzolkin, Teotihuacan, Trismegistus, Tekhenu, and Tawantinsuyu - all designed by Tascini and/or Turczi.
I actually gave away my copy, because I also had Indian Summer and thought they were to similar. Now, after seeing your playthrough, I regret it a little 😅
FYI, the single piece you get from the track board, you dont have to place it. You can discard it from the game. (at least from Americana version of the game). But that is giving up 2 free points (-2 for each unfilled space).
Looking forward to Feast, Agricola, and Caverna.
We have so many 2-player games in our collection, but for some reason, we don't have this. I've never been drawn to the box art and it's passed by, but now it think, maybe . . . 🤔
Will you include the games from Uwe list - Agricola, Lehavre or Caverna?
Gameplay looks like the simplified version of New York Zoo. I wonder which one you two enjoy playing more?
Current favourite. Le wife even challenge me to cook if I won. :D
Hope you guys play New York Zoo!
Love this game, although it is always a little humiliating if you manage to get negative....
I also love fox in the forest as a 2 player only game, but haven't played too many.
Very excited to kick off the Uwe series. Will you be including all the other ones you have already played like New York Zoo etc in your final rankings?
I find the spiral counting board way clearer. But anyway we now have the funny Halloween edition.
Ciao a Voi ! Il mio preferito è seven wonders duel!
Please do a Fields of Arle gameplay and review video!
It’s definitely in the works, though it’ll be further down the road.
Nova Luna is more than a decent alternative for a quick-30-minutes-game-by-Uwe :) Are we going to see it on the channel?
Nova Luna is not a great game... but cute though
Uweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee serieeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Great vid. Literally waiting to watch you do A Feast for Odin before I buy it.
Edit: Oh and what's a "Math Trade"?
Instead of needing to find someone who has a game you want and wants a game you have, you get a bunch of people and use software to find a chain of game transfers that will make everyone happy
I've heard that Uwe likes putting Christian iconography in his game, the cross being free in Patchwork is a good example. Is it a boardgaming-myth or is there some truth to it?
I haven’t noticed this, having played most of his games. In a polyomino game, the cross shape tends to be difficult, so the low cost helps to balance it.
I want to like it buy I don't I just don't like that I end up in minus points and too much restriction.
$15 on Amazon rn
Wait, you actually took Patchwork out of its shrinkwrap!? Noooo
Haha, only way to get access to its treasures!
Thanks for this! Count me in for Naveen's new quilting channel too! 🧵
