Bonus content: Sandro takes a tab of acid and attempts to detail a JDM classic with ultra soft paint
black paint* yeah it would be fun
I severely think LSD usage is the reason I can see the mJority of the paint defects that others simply can not, even when being shown directly.....and no im not talking about while actively tripping.... it just opened up the mind to take in the info for life.
TRIPPY 😂😂🙌 Sandro is the Goat 🐐🐐
YES!
Absolutely. Everything you said! I wish your vids were longer!
Wow, what a well-done detailing video. Kudos.
I don't know how people mess this up so badly. I compounded and polished my own car twice. No prior experience. Bought the Meg's DA polisher. First time, I used the ultimate compound and polish with the red, yellow, and black foam pads from Meg's. Probably had 70% defect removal with no hazing or hologram. Good enough for me at the time. Then I used the Meg's hybrid ceramic waxes. However, I was left unsatisfied after about 10 months. Second time, I used the Ultra-Cut Compound, DA Microfiber Polish, and microfiber cutting and polishing discs, all from Meg's. This time, the result was much better, prob 95% defect removal. The Ultra-Cut compound and microfiber cutting pad were much more effective than the ultimate compound and red foam cutting disc, but there was wayyyy more compound dust this time. Then did wipe-down with Carpro Eraser. Then I ceramic coated with Carpro UK 3.0. Still performing well several months later. Using Carpro Echo at 1/15 dilution as light waterless washes and doing full washes perhaps 2x per month with Carpro Reset.
Thank you for inspiring me to delve further into this fun and rewarding experience, Sandro.
My pleasure mate and great to hear you’re progressing nicely! The sad truth is that a lack of training is usually the reason and the person doing the work is probably doing their best but just hasn’t been taught correctly. The blame for the car leaving the shop that way has to fall on the owner/manager.
Great rundown. I appreciate that this project wasn’t some $200k garage queen, with an owner who can just toss gold coins at you.
Many of us are tackling cars like this, and I actually think the quality of your work shines (dammit!) the most when done on basic transportation.
Cheers, and good on ya for helping a friend. He’ll never forget it.
I glad Sandro that your able to do some work in this insane world. We must take care of our families in these crazy times. You sound little better in this video. If I owned that car be asking for them to reclear the whole car and then let you have it to finish the paintwork.
Unfortunately that video and job was done a while back in between lockdowns here, but keeping strong mate as we all should!
Great to see such an unselfish act to gift this car to his mother. I know it will look top notch after your done with it. Looking forward to part two! Thanks Sandro.
Damn that new intro is awesome man, keep up the great work
Another great video and yes, anything for “mum”
Sandro, I absolutely love your videos! Not only do I ALWAYS learn something, but I also find them so relaxing to watch. You, sir, are a master of your craft, and I really appreciate the knowledge and experience you share. Thank you!
Appreciate that mate and I really hope you enjoy this series.
Hey buddy jonny shiell detailing here, great video and thanks for the inspiration as always.
Thanks Jonny, really appreciate it mate and keep the great content coming!
I really enjoy your video style, It's a great blend of half cinematic half educational and you have a great voice as well really top notch video production.... not to mention your detailing expertise.
Yes! New video!
Hope you enjoy it!
I really can't understand how a professional bodyshop that works with automotive paint does not know how to polish a vehicle correctly. It actually blows my mind.
Glad you were able to work your magic though! 😊
Obviously they have never been taught to show pride in their work.
I am not surprised, my friend got his car destroyed by a detailer that buff his car. They didn’t measure the paint and remove pretty much all thé clearcoat
probably had a bored 1st year doing nothing and told them to polish the car... the rest is history
Let’s call it ‘detailer job security.’ 😉
Love the video!
Great to hear, thanks!
Hey Sandro! Thanks for doing this detail for a friend and colleague. The best details by far! Hope you and the family are well ☕️
Thanks mate and like wise hope all’s well on your end and hope you enjoy the series!
I always enjoy your videos and looking forward to seeing how you remove the clear coat residue from the plastic panels.
Good exact detail and explanation video Sandro. I don't know how insurance companies work these days when a repair is completed, but years or decades ago, the car was not released back to the owner until the insurance assessor checked the repair and work of the body shop, which also included the polishing of the vehicle. If this happened in a previous time, the car would not have been released. Look forward to the next Part.
Ahh the good old days lol. I think as you get a little older you appreciate the way a lot of services use to operate and take real pride in their work. It’s really more of a numbers game these days and cost cutting is unfortunately king.
The good job 👍👌
I wish you where based here in the UK, I would have been your best customer lol. Hard to find such dedicated people like you. Love your videos bud!
I really appreciate that you pronounced Hyundai properly rather than saying Haaaaayoooondaaaai like most other youtubers do.
It’s probably just my Australian accent lol
Holograms are the future Man!
Lol
Yes lol! Tesla eat your heart out!
Body shops will just do a quick job in most cases, especially with insurance jobs. Most never notice.
Seriously the amount I have learnt off of you over the years I should have your name on my business as a partner 😂 awesome work as always man
Lol my pleasure mate, it’s really nice to hear that!
Very educational and entertaining "uncle Sandro"👍😁
Seriously though, insurance companies should include paint finishing in their repair cost knowing that body shops do such a crap job!
Love the video mate, look forward to seeing the next episode 👌❤💪
Oh, how sweet are dreams.
I’ve done body work at a shop before. Those boys just cut with a rotary and wool and call it a day. NEVER seen any of them go back and fish with a DA or soft foam pad
Hey Sandro you should make a playlist for your music which I love
Another awesome video Sandro. Great to see a more common car, but don't get me wrong, I love the expensive ones too.
I had a question regarding snow foam. I've been rinsing first, then foaming, but wondered if I was wasting time and should foam first to get things broken down a bit? Thanks :)
Thank mate, and there’s honestly pros and cons to doing it either way. I’ve found that the foam seems to cling better and longer on dry paint as well as not get diluted as much so maybe works a little better that way. But at the same time, rinsing first can allow the foam to tackle the more severe grim by firstly removing the looser grime and in out doors it can help cool the paint down first so the foam doesn’t dry as quick.
So it just depends and I don’t think it’s a clear cut right or wrong way of doing it 🙂
Hey Sandro. How would one go in becoming a nova pro installer ? Great video as always! Keen for pt 2

Thanks as always Sandro - nice back story with this one too. Quick question, I would always use an iron fallout remover regardless of car 'age' / mileage / paint feel as I pretty much always get a reaction. Some new cars have shocked me by just how much they've lit up. Can you explain your decision making process a little more in a future video?
My pleasure mate. I’ve actually shown that in some past videos where I sprayed the iron remover just to double check and got no reaction, but you can certainly test it out as a way of confirming that. Also if the fallout isn’t to old you can also remove it with just a good decon detergent and other alkaline and even acid based cleaners can remove fallout as well. It’s just that you don’t get that same visual colour reaction for confirmation.
Sandro, I’m about to do a paint correction and ceramic coat detail on a Hyundai veloster that’s my mother’s for Christmas.
I was wondering if you have insight on the paint of these vehicles as a spectrum and if it’s hard/softness changes with colors for Hyundai.
Thanks!
I’ve only corrected a handful of full of Hyundai’s but found the paint to vary quite a bit from harder to softer and that’s also what I’ve heard from others detailers, that it can really be either or in terms of its hard/softness. The last one I did a 2022 Elantra hard a harder clear so it took a little work and aggression to remove the defects, but it was still surprisingly sensitive in terms of needing a more gentle second step to finish well. I don’t necessarily think it’s the base colour that dictates that, but could be batches of production year models with varying clear coat hardness and sensitivity.
Great video I feel your pain I have to fix holograms all the time due to others bad polishing I have offered to train them but as its another department it may cause WAVES Looking forward to see how you remove hologarms AN investment in knowledge pays the best INTEREST IN sandro we trust
Thanks Bob, the finish was a little worse on this car than you’d expect from any body shop but also unfortunately not too uncommon, hope you enjoy series!
Trippy !!! lmao! new car paints are at a all time low in clear coating for sure! often hit below 80 microns ! Nuts!
Yes they are! The new clears are definitely better quality than they use to be, but it’s still getting ridiculous at how little they are applying!
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Agree!
How do you think Nv snow compares to Carpro reset and other similar high quality products?
They are quite similar in many ways. I’d say Reset is perhaps a touch stronger and maybe not the best choice if you’ve got a wax on the car, whereas Snow is a little more gentle with natural waxes, but both do a great job at being a pure car wash without all the enhancers and additives found in most car wash soaps.
👍
Hello Sandro.
I always love to see your videos, trying to do even a fraction of what you do in my situation is really hard, but I try to at least preserve what I have.
Would love some advice actually.
My car is a black 2009 Lexus RX.
Thankfully, the clear coat hasn't started failing and I am doing everything I can to protect it. I live in Israel, the sun is very harsh, especially on black paint.
Obviously the best solution would be a full polish and ceramic coating, but I don't really have the budget for it, and doing it myself probably won't end well.
The paint is swirly and full of scratches. It is also very hard, and polishing it by hand or with my drill is futile, so I can only clean it as good as possible and apply some protection.
I tried Meguiar's hybrid ceramic wax, which lasted a month at best. I also tried Turtle wax ceramic acryllic black wax, which seems to do better at hiding some scratches, but lasts about the same.
Should I instead use a spray wax and apply it before wiping the car dry every wash, or continue to put one of the sio2 waxes every other month?
The car is driven about once a week for 40-50km due to working from home, because of the pandemic.
Thanks!
I think that if you’re able to do a good decontamination with a strip car wash detergent, maybe some iron and tar removers, clay and even just a light hand polish with a pure car polish followed by an IPA wipe, that should help you get a better bond with the sealant and hopefully it would last longer. Also applying two layers could definitely help. But I would also suggest using a good Quick Detailer after each wash or even as a drying aid as that should help extend the life of the sealant.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thanks! I haven't used tar and iron removers yet.
Hard to come by, but I will probably order some.
Just asking, why don’t you power wash the entire car before you lay down the decontamination foam? You’d get most of the big stuff off and leave that film layer so the foam can work better? Love your channel…Chicago, USA😉
That’s true, but the other side of the argument is that the foam tends to cling and dwell longer on dry paint as well as not get so diluted allowing you to get the most out of it, so I don’t think there’s a right or wrong there just a preference - both with pros and cons. Thanks mate!
Hello, great vids u make. May I ask u what program u use to make the bleu lines and text in the video love to use something like that myself.
Thanks it’s a Final Cut Pro plug-in called CallOut Pop

Sandro, I have a question: Several months after coating with UK 3.0, there is a 12 inch by 8 inch area on the right side of the hood that was notably much less hydrophilic than anywhere else on the car the last time I washed it. Any thoughts on what may be causing it? Do you think it was a problem with the application or perhaps something else that could be fixed? Have you seen that happen before?
Yes I’ve seen that happen and it could be that coating for some reason didn’t effectively bond in that section quite as well. Alternatively it could also be some sort of environmental film/contamination that’s effected it. You could try a bit of a chemical cleanse if that’s the case, maybe using a light acid mineral spot remover and an alkaline APC to hit it at both ends depending on what the cause is.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thank you
Where do you get that pressure cleaner trigger, the one you used to fill the bucket at the start, short one?
victorianpumps.com.au/product/gun-st-2300-with-quick-connect/
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thanks, that the one. I've been looking for a while, I haven't found one until now that can handle much pressure.
i dont recall seeing one before,i could be wrong, is the wedding ring new?
No not new, about 18mths now 🙂

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing amazing job and great done by your friend on giving his car to his mom, family comes first and we must tend to it the best we can.
Esse gosta de uma câmera lenta em kkkk
I have a i30 sedan 21 cn7 . How do I get my cat to feature on your channel?
We can start by lifting the lockdowns so I work again …
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing sounds great! I’m located in Melbourne! We will work something out when we reopen
Too bad you couldn't play some Iron Butterfly during the video💡☺
You, first throw the foam with the dry car, don't you just rinse it with the washer ?? and then throw the foam?
Thank you great video
I do it the same way, The foam clings way better on a dry car and doesn't get diluted further with water. It slowly starts to dissipate on its own after a while and drags all the dirt down with it. I find that foam on a wet car slides off way too fast and isn't as effective
I’m in Hyundai Sales in North America and we can not keep these Elantra’s on the lot .🤍✨
to be perfectly honest I am slightly disappointed, I came here expecting to see some amazing new paint effect with deliberate inclusion of holographic effects under the clear coat, something like we see on our bank notes. Thankfully you came through with a great video on detailing technique.
Lol thanks not the sort of holograms I’m use to seeing on cars - unfortunately it’s just these ones!
I find the rotary unnecessarily demonised by many, it’s not the machine that results in holograms, it’s the poor technique or product/pad combo used by the applicator. A rookie with a DA/orbital will also mar the paint, good technique with a rotary will result in a flawless, hologram free finish. Many pro’s often jewel paint with a rotary as the last step.
Agreed, noobs with a DA make results just as bad as a rotary if you haven’t had much practice with either. I like to think modern day DA’s are becoming powerful enough to cut as quickly as a rotary, just haven’t been convinced of it in practice.
@@Ichabod_Jericho they’ve improved by a lot, but they objectively cannot go through heavy defects like a rotary + wool pad, they also spike surface temps much more than wool pads.
Just what I'm after Sandro, can't wait to the end result (I know it will be amazing 😉). I also have the same Kranzle at home, love it 👌. Would you say the Hyundai's have similar paint to something like Toyota's - soft paint ?. I haven't worked on one yet and just would like to know for my info. Thanks mate
Hope you enjoy the series!
Hyundai paint can vary. I found the older ones use to mostly have softer paint while the newer ones tend to be on the harder side.
Love your videos. One note tho, perhaps you can use some other more suitable music genre. Sometimes is too sad and emitional 😀
Thanks and the music is certainly not all the same genre, but actually one of the most difficult parts is finding the rights tracks, it’s not easy!
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing I can suggest some chill drum and bass music or something from lofi hip hop radio on youtube. I am sure you will find something you can use in your vids.
hi mister sandro
if I can drive again in April I had a retina detachment and 3 months later again a retiina detachment if i can drive after all year parked outside i have to go through the same steps
i try to change food.
a business in growing to more employers is good means economic is good but also mean time is money money is time you get this amount to do and you are in one person you can give it more time do a better job
and there a camaro firevird club in australia want to join or though i join
am try to save money have to renew mi national firebird club so i need time to fill it up
Btw, that's not the new Elantra😉
no hate but why do you use so much of chemicals when washing the wheels ?
Safety, effective and efficient result just like every other process 🙂
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing your chemicals your job and great videos so cant complain
How are you not banned from Yt yet 😂😂 this is outright pornography
hang on a second XD, NOT mocking you, but if this is truely the worst hologram you have witness at work, then you should consider yourself lucky LOLOLOLOL
add on: good on you for fixing a soon to be mum's present
Also, don't everyone love form time to time some everyday car with everyday defects ? I love it for sure.
Side question: why would you want to use a long extension for the pressure washer while sometimes you only use the short gun? I just purchased a short one thinking it creates less stress on your body, not exactly ?
ALSO ALSO ...........I would love to use a Kranzle as well ...........but that price ..........honestly I doubt any non-professional would buy one.
