in the video I said that the brakes are dual caliper.......What I meant to say was that they are Dual Piston Caliper.

I picked up a K6 250 EFI enduro model after looking at one, amazed at the quality and decked out with every extra i wanted > some not listed on website. The dealer actually let me test ride one in the parking lot! The DOHC NC250 motor has at least 30hp to the rear wheel, crazy torque for a 250f {equal to my YZ250FX} but the delivery is linear and it tractors, very hard to stall. It also has a big kick in upper rpms from the DOHC, and keeps pulling with over rev. Hard to believe this a low maintenance 11:1 motor. The suspension at first I felt was way too stiff for single track, but I tried the compression all the way soft / rebound almost all the way hard and Im really happy with it. I had lots of bikes, my favorites being a KLX250 and the YZ250FX. This K6 really feels like the perfect middle ground of those two. The negatives....its not "real" light, feels about 270lbs but still way lighter than the 250 dual sports. Most of that weight is in the steel forks. U can feel it the weight there, it wheelies hard and front wants to dive off jumps. BUT, cuz of that I run a lot more sag and the front is still glued to the trail, handles amazing while the rear grabs with the extra sag. It wont loop while hill climbing either. After getting use to that, the bike feels more planted than any other i rode. The DID chain stretches every ride. The EFI model comes with super heavy 110-100 tire, i replaced it with a lighter 100-100 and that really woke the motor up. The Rojo EFI still has the fuel-cut-after-decel stall issue occasionally. It learns and goes away after awhile. Doesnt happen if u let the bike warm up. The fuel mapping is great BTW, very smooth. AND my fuel injector was clogged from the showroom. A common issue with these Kayo's and GPX EFI bikes. I got new injector sent from dealer under warranty. I almost bought a '21 WR250F for $10500 OTD. Im glad I didnt.
You explained the bike perfectly. My K6 is awesome! I'm trying to find a larger tank that will fit it though.
@@XxTournaquetxX there are forums where the the ktm tanks fit. join them
Quite good observations
Thanks for introducing us to the Kayo. Looking forward to seeing what their future bikes and your videos look like. Cheers 🍻
No problem....lots more to come with this thing 😃👍
Thanks for the video, currently I have a Pister Pro LXR 250f, I am looking forward to getting this bike to continue learning motocross. Thanks for the info and the feedback, new subscriber
Hey, Dave, just bought the k4 250, so key to me is literature and parts to rebuild, we haven't even broke in ours yet, but first off we had to tighten spokes, ad a little oil to air cleaner, it is foam and was dry, and as I stated before the little book I got I believe was for a 50cc. Some information with this air cooled version I'm guessing sounds fairly compatable for the k4250 also, so far we've just cruised around yard but I am very atimate about having a service/rebuild manual and parts availability! On the k4250 only parts you can get for motor is to purchase a complete motor, thought cost on my 2021 for a new complete motor is around 1150, I believe only thing missing is carb boot, now chain on the k4 I can't comment on yet, not rode enough! Suspension on k4 is adjustable also! Anyway so far so good and it won't hurt to put some die electric grease on all electrical connections! Good luck to all the kayo owners and wish us luck were not in the pits and not riding! ;) dealer actually said the service manual can be downloaded, have not tried yet, but a book would be nice! Thanks kayo and get some books out and some engine parts!
That Fast Ace suspension is pretty phenomenal!
Dave I can actually hear you, good vid.
Getting our 1st Kayo this week!
Great content! Very informative !
Nice, what model ?
How's it holding up on purchasing one next week and just wanted to know thanks
Solid video, Dave. They've started showing up in the PNW and the initial offerings were similar to the RXB250L (223cc). I keep waiting for one of the 250 EFIs to show up so I can check it out. I am interested to see more about the new Zongshen motors. The NC250/300 and 450 have been out a few years now, so I am glad to see them bringing other models in.
Yea..the older version with a NC 250 engine was good, but this engine is even better and still has dead on reliability.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave From the looks of it, seems like the same bottom end with the dual cam heard bolted on. Like the SSR300 which was just an NC250 with a factory Big Bore kit.
Wonder if there might be some Franken-build opportunities for anyone with the old motor.
Thanks for the review. Happy trails 👣
Thank You !!
Got my kid 140cc kayo 2022 so far so good
Awesome bike man congratulations
New guy here. I just subscribed to your channel Dave, and thumbs up! Thank you for taking the time to create the content for everybody to enjoy.
For everybody out there, I myself just purchased a Kayo K6-EFI just last week. Let me tell you something. The quality of this bike is off the chain! Its on par with Japanese quality if your wondering. My local KTM dealer is going to start carrying them in about a month. I went out of state to my closest dealer to get it. Out the door price was $4635. AMAZING price and bike!
I was initially looking at getting a Yamaha TTR230. That was until I started looking closer. The TTR230 is 30 year old technology. Non-adjustable suspension and still has a rear DRUM brake. Suggested reail price... $5400. I was like seriously?
I almost pulled the pin on a GPX Moto FSE250E Another beautiful bike. Its cost is $4400 and $400 shipping for a total of $4800. The Kayo K6-EFI was less expensive and much more bike. The bike I was looking for! I wanted to see the K6250-R, but the dealer didn't have any. Bummer.
The price is right on every model Kayo offers. NO WAY would I pay 10k to 12k for a dirt bike. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and KTM, in my opinion, are riding on they're laurels. For example, is that TTR 230 a good bike? Yes... For $3000.
If you do some quick research, you will see that all of these five big companies offer nothing at all for models except MX bikes for the most part. 300cc and under Yamaha bikes are manufactured in Brazil, and the same for Honda. Kawasaki 300cc and under are manufactured in Indonesia. Not sure about Suzuki. I did hear and read that most of the KTM frames are made in China too. There's that global economy thing.
Here are the "Out the door" prices That I saw at the dealer when I purchased my Kayo K6-EFI...
K2 230... $2709
K4 250...$3353
K6 250-EFI...$4635
KT 250-R (2 stroke)...$5498
Those are the only models they had in stock.
Looks like the good old day are back!
Thank you for your channel Dave! One other thing...What KTM skid plate fits my bike or yours? Please let me know.
That Zongshen NC250 177 engine is BAD ASS!
The compression ratio is so much lower than the competition
Where are you finding after-market accessories; ie. skid plate, handlebars, brake rotor guards, larger gas tank, etc?
Good vid Dave
Good video bud 👍
I got a Chinese 450 and love it not a kayo but a braaap mx450
I'm going to buy one I just like riding around forest roads and trails and ocasional tracks and jumps don't need anything special. Was thinking about getting a a older wr450 or something similar used but saw this and it's brand new for the same price.
You would not be disappointed...not one person who got one from my recommendation has said anything negative about them, actually the opposite..how much value for the money.😁👍
I just bought a tt 125 and I'm a grown 25 yr old. Good pit bike.i have a factory race spec 250 sx ktm . I fit on the big wheel kayo 125 and it's a good pit bike for when I'm riding around casually
As I have owned this bike for over a year now and have had more time to investigate the brand...it seems the smaller models are not built as well as the 3 bigger ( water cooled ) bikes...but some of that just may be Guys having unrealistic expectations of pit bikes..🤷♂️
The levers also don't just bend that way
They bend in every direction
I didn't know that till my dad dropped the bike in a cliff and that saved the levers
I don't have this bike but I have a egl 300 and it comes stock with the same levers
Just small lovable details that Japanese brands don't include
Like for example
The hubs on my egl are powder coated stock and same for my pit bike and the glass thingy to check your oil through it is a great little detail
Dave thank you for your video. What do you think is this bike a good for enduro? Trail riding and maybe local competitions...
ABSOLUTELY !!
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave Dave thank you for the answer. it is my second youtube account. Several manufacturers of Chinese motorcycles are represented in Russia, these are Kayo, Avantis, Zuum, BSE, Motoland (I ride Motoland) and others. But since Kayo has a representative office not only in Russia but also in the USA, this says a lot about the solidity of the Chinese brand Kayo! And I think my next bike will be Kayo! Dave will it be easy to hop logs and stumps on Kayo k6 r? What do you think? (My friend from Chicago, Shawn McGinnis, teaches me some tricks, including jumping logs correctly. Shawn explains, czcams.com/video/qfmw8iT0iGs/video.html and I'm performing czcams.com/video/dcszFQH0awU/video.html )
Hi I have a Chinese bike wit the 230cc engine I bought a 28 nibbi carb and it's possible if you can tell me wats the best jeting for this carb I was thinking 38 p 125m. Thanks
Zongshen engines (if tuned well stock) are really good bc I've never seen one blow up as long as it has a decent maintenance and same for united motors
Do you know if they make aftermarket parts for this engine or something that will make it more powerful?
@@zackcourtney5311 boy u snap on a lectrons carb and thing a rocket
But for the engine itself there's ways to make it have more compression and I don't think it will heat up bc the radiator pretty good its just I don't know how too bc im not a mechanic but honestly the bike fun enough with the power it has already
@@speedyboi349 do you have this bike? I’m a 6’5 275lbs so I’m afraid it’ll be slow.. I may look into the ssr 450s
@@zackcourtney5311 well I have the egl 300cc 6 gears
Its basically a zongshen engine on a more enduro less track type dirtbike
Im 5,4 102 pounds but my dad 6 foot and its still more than enough power for him
Idk about u it really depends on what u want it for
I just use mine for enduro and touring around country roads and the woods u know just some fun on it and it does the job well the only problem is that I cant reach the ground well
Idk u provably better of with a 300cc for enduro and maybe even the 450cc ssr for some track weekends but both can work just fine
I have the same bike. Awesome bike for the $$ There are lots of great quality parts on the bike as you pointed out. I was at the dealership the other day where I purchased my K6-R. They has a EFI K6 in stock. Slight differences between them, EFI being the biggest . THE K6 EFI comes with an 18" rear wheel and kickstand as well as a light kit (headlight/tail light). You would think the bikes should be the opposite the EFI for motocross and the carb model for trail/offroad? You gave a great review/insight on the bike.
Your in the Caolina's right? I'm in Chesterfield, SC. I've seen yiu have been at Reed's place. I'd like to see it in person
Yes, I live in Raleigh go to NCMP AND Moto 40 MX often
What brand parts do you buy as far as clutch and break levers. I have the same bike and can’t find the levers anywhere
Have your dealer order them...SSR 300 are the same also.
Do you happen to know if the dual-cam head of the Zongshen ZS177MM-A cab replace the single-cam head of the previous ZS177MM ?
No I don't know if it can or not.
I am from Iowa. Non of the dealerships have the the KT250 two stroke and one of the dealerships told me they could not get it in.. do you know of any dealers around that would have that model? Or is it out of production?
Sorry...I don't work for them..try looking up dealers on their website.
Whatever you do do not buy the k6 EPI I had one and really liked it but as soon as I would do a little bit of technical riding thing massively overheats. Ran good until it got hot and would spit and sputter. I took it back to Honda and told them what it was doing they had it for two weeks and said they could find nothing wrong with it. So I traded it in for the KT 250 and so far so good. My honest opinion I think the k6 was running extremely lean causing it to overheat I thought the dealership could do some fuel re-mapping but they didn’t want to work on it
Maybe I just got a lemon
1st I've heard of over heating...it has a fan 🤷♂️
Would u get 4 stroke enduro ASR 450CC or Kayo 250cc 4 stroke enduro as a novice rider tall ,over 300lbs ?
An SSR 450 might be the way to go for your size and weight...just be careful and take your time learning....don't ride over your head.
Question for you brother, k6 EFI and this k6R is is also EFI or carburetor? I've looked online with cross info. I know the k4 is carb but wanted to know between these two models k6 EFI clearly in the title but the k6R? Carb or also EFI???
The K6-R is a carb...34mm racing version from NIBBI.....it also has better wheels with billet hubs and thicker spokes, tires, different suspension and billet aluminum triple clamps....my 2 cents is that this is the better model of the 2, but they are nearly impossible to find for some reason.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave got it so I'm more so interested in trail riding with my kids, no motox would you say that the K6 EFI would be most suited for such? I understand the K6-R maybe a better build but thinking the suspension may be to stiff for what my plans are
@@fonz660R The K6 EFI is a good trail bike...the biggest problem for that bike is keeping the Fuel filters clean for the EFI system...there is a filter in the Tank and one between the fuel line....they tend to get clogged up easily. ...other than that the suspension is good, but softer springs and the mapping of the EFI makes the power delivery more mellow....a very capable off road trail bike.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave appreciate the feed back Dave, stsy safe brother
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave btw guess I should or mention I got my kids on there own wheels since I found Kayo been doing a ton of research and super happy with the kids set up so far, Kayo 125 TT and a Kayo storm 150. Both with no issues
How does this bikes power compare to the big 4 250’s? I know the 2 stroke version of this bike is actually a 225cc and not a true 250cc. Do you know what engine this bike resembles? The only downside I see is it’s carbureted when the competition is fuel injected. The fuel injected version of the Kayo isn’t what I’m looking for.
Okay Zack, here goes my opinion on it...remember I am just 1 guy. The best comparison I can give is very similar to a RMZ250...it makes very respectful low and mid-range power..plenty of torque...what makes it different is its a 6 speed and it also spins up a little slower...the engine breaking effect is noticeable. The bike us a little down on power and a little bit mor heavy to the Big 5 brands...but not by much and remember this bike costs $5000 less.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave is it easy to do a wheelie? Do you feel like you need more power when riding it or is it more than enough? Thanks so much for your reply
@@zackcourtney5311 I feel it has plenty of power...very linear...almost electric...just does not rev up/ hit as fast/ hard as the Big 5 Brands....I had a local pro ride it and he felt it was fine.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave one more question if you don’t mind. How do you rebuild these engines when it’s time or get replacement parts in general? Is it cheaper to buy the whole engine new again or do they make actual parts for it?
Some people may not realize when you talk about the suspension on the bike , but fast ace is just a suspension company, so it's not a cheap knock off
i feel that I explained it well...but yes FastAce is a legit suspension company
I have been looking into getting one how are they on finding/getting parts for them?
Parts are out there...aftermarket stuff is basically just cross reference with the Big 5 brands......no one makes a pipe or silencer, but you really dont need one....engine parts are online or from dealer...plastics are mostly KTM....etc etc.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave do happen to know any links to the websites that you could share for part online. Thank you for the info
How much suspension travel front and rear ? How much ground clearance ? Thanks
11.5 front and rear suspension travel....13 ground clearance...you can check specs at ridekayo.com👍
My advice is too short shift and use the torque!
Put a nice little keihin FCR carb & you'll be in business 👍
Nope, the Nibbi is fine and plenty good enough...if I switched at all it would be to a Lectron.
Have you ridden GPX or SSR?
Yes I have ridden a SSR 300 and GPX 300 (not the new dual cam version)....my thought is as for a bike you would use on a track day in MX...this Kayo is much better than both of those models..mostly due to more power and better suspension that is not soft, also it is noticeably lighter than both of them
I bought a k6 today. I pick it up tomorrow k6 efi can’t weight
Nice 😁👍
I'm purchasing the same bike next week how are you liking yours still
Do they offer a street legal version?
I know they come with a headlight and tailight...but if they can be tagged is unknown to me...I am going to say no to be on the safe side.
Any one know if you can get one in Canada??
Not sure
I thought kayo has old honda e engine???????????????????
How come the fuel line was off the bike?
And the petcock backward?
Because I was trying the petcock backwards....it did not work that way..🧐 good catch.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave if I can get your 2 cents I’m really wanting a k6-r and I can’t find a new one locally so I found one with 8 hours on it about 3 hours drive away for 4400. Do I take the lightly used bike or pay the little more and drive possibly a lot further for new 🤔 what would Dave do?
@@jwassass So I don't know your background or friends..but If you can evaluate a used bike...I would get that one and save almost $2000....if you know a buddy who knows bikes take him with you.😁🤷♂️👍
What it mean kayo is really motocross or just practice bike???.how many chinese brands names called motor cross??.some are not motocross????.
This is definitely a MX Bike...they make other bikes for off road/trails etc.
Kayo has pdf.no manuel.somebody would be wrong if break any parts cant fix????.I dont know what any prices on engine, transmission plus many parts????.
You would go to a Kayo authorized dealer to order parts.
Or online it's a zongshen engine parts are all over really.
YZ 250x 49hp, Kayo 250 33hp, big difference but also Kayo is about 2,700 less, each their own I guess.
Dude that false hp # for the 250x has been floating around for 2 yrs now ...they measured it from the crank...the true # is 38 @ rear wheel with street tire on Dyno from Twisted Developments Dyno and that includes mapping changes....so not as big a difference as you might think.
Cost difference. KAYO 5999 MSRP. YZ250X 7800 MSRP
YZ250F 8300 msrp....listen I love all bikes, this is just a good option at a great price for the average guy.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave Yamaha actually claims 51hp @ the crank, top speed 90 mph, not that you'll ever need or reach that speed anywhere on a trail. Love all or should I say most bikes as well, been looking at the EGL A17 or the Trailmaster TM 36 definitely for the price.

@@Dirt_Bike_Dave All that silly horsepower business has been going on since I can ever remember, back to the late '70's or so. I'm the same age as you, so I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. The only thing that matters for most riders is good, usable power delivery, and enough power to get up steep hills and accelerate good enough to have some fun. Any dirt bike producing 30hp at the rear wheel is going to be a pretty quick bike. I mean, I'm 56 and there are very few riders who can stay with me on my favorite single track loop, and I'm riding a DRZ125L with only an FMF pipe and taller gearing (51 rear vs 57 stock). My little bike only puts out about 12hp at the crank, but it's more than enough in the tight and technical stuff to turn some quick times on that 5 mile loop. The only guy who I struggled to keep off my tail was a young man on a CRF230F. He could actually ride! But man I would love to get one of those K6 enduro models, I think i will actually!
Durability is my question nice looking though. It’s funny how China likes to copy off of other bikes.
From all my research the Durability is good..these Zongshen engines are pretty bulletproof...and all the Dirt Bike manufacturers copy each other..nothing new .
Which Kayo 250 is best? Well it depends on what you ride! WE just got off the K2, K4, K6-EFI and the KT250 and they are all SO Different! Check it out: czcams.com/video/tXna1NqFGVA/video.html
