As a softball player, I would say that baseball and softball have their differences that are necessary for how girls and boys are built differently. With softball it’s speedier because of the small infield and base pads and you have less time to throw it, whereas baseball has a bigger field and have more time to throw and get a better grip on it due to the smaller ball. It may be harder to field it, but I wouldn’t know since I don’t play baseball. I think they both have their differences, but baseball may be a little harder because of seeing the pitches being thrown. I think this argument should just be over with.

Softballs are bigger then baseballs but baseballs can fly further on a good hit. Baseball games last 9 innings unless run ruled or extra innings and softball games last 7 unless run ruled or extra innings. In baseball, wooden bats are used and tend to be longer while in softball the bats could be wooden or composite or even metal. This is coming from a softball player who wonders why we can’t stop comparing these sports. They are both difficult in their own ways and we need to just leave the opinions out of it and enjoy the games. Ok so I am a softball player and these are my opinions: 1. The ball hurts more and leaves a bigger mark when you get hit with a softball so players have to have a better pain tolerance than those who play baseball 2. The bases, pitching mound, and positions are all closer together so we have to be faster than baseball players while running, fielding, pitching, watching the ball, etc 3. It’s so easy to baseball pitch compared to softball, it’s literally overhand tossing. In this video it’s just the basics so curveballs and drops don’t even come into play.
Swinging is still swinging, no matter what bat you use. Going from one pitching style to a completely new one is a different story. Not really "switching" sports.

A small field is both good and bad for the runners. Although it’s less distance to run, it’s less time to get to the bases as the fielders are closer to home plate.

@@Octuly Not really. Last year only 23 drafted players went straight to the Majors. What we're seeing in the MLB is the most developed versions of those college kids. It's almost like the jump of a high school kid to their redshirt freshman year. There's a big skill gap to cross from level-to-level to be competition-ready. Women don't have a league as rich as that to push their talents even further whilst their college resources are more comparable even if still lesser.

I wish there wasn’t such a big argument about which sport is harder. I’m seeing a lot of immaturity in the comments that really disappoints me, these videos are for fun, right? From the perspective of a softball player, I think it’s unfortunate that softball was made to be easier than baseball, but it originated from *indoor* baseball, for men who were handicapped or didn’t want to play outside. That’s just how us girls grew up learning how to play, although I don’t think that means we don’t work as hard or love the sport less than any baseball player. It’s not our fault how softball was made differently, I know that if we grew up practicing and playing baseball just like baseball players have, there’s every reason for us to be just as good as any guy. (By the way, in softball there are normal hardballs and then there are softies, which are what we *usually* use when inside to not damage anything badly. Otherwise we use a ball that is just as hard as a baseball.)

A softball has more force behind it (Jenny Finch broke the pressure plate), you have less reaction time (43 ft pitching distance vs 70 ft.), and it is easier to bring your hands down than up (baseball pitcher stand on a mound and throw at a downward trajectory while softball pitcher throw rise balls). Anyone who claims softball is easier obviously has never faced a D1 softball pitcher.
Softball is harder than base ball because the ball gets bigger and the pitcher mound gets longer and all the boys do is throw the girls have to go in a full circke
the bigger the ball the easier to hit. Also the pitching mound is closer to the plate. Also, the softball is very bright colored which makes it much easier to see coming at you. And, softball pitchers can go for much longer because of their less strenuous arm action. On top of this, the fields are smaller and the bases are shorter which make it easier for both the hitter and the runners.
Even though both sports are extremely similar, there are differences between them, so in conclusion, both are difficult sports that take skill to understand and get right

Ok so I am a softball player and these are my opinions:
1. The ball hurts more and leaves a bigger mark when you get hit with a softball so players have to have a better pain tolerance than those who play baseball
2. The bases, pitching mound, and positions are all closer together so we have to be faster than baseball players while running, fielding, pitching, watching the ball, etc
3. Softball is harder than baseball because of these reasons!

@@Octuly Not really. Last year only 23 drafted players went straight to the Majors. What we're seeing in the MLB is the most developed versions of those college kids. It's almost like the jump of a high school kid to their redshirt freshman year. There's a big skill gap to cross from level-to-level to be competition-ready. Women don't have a league as rich as that to push their talents even further whilst their college resources are more comparable even if still lesser.

I wish there wasn’t such a big argument about which sport is harder. I’m seeing a lot of immaturity in the comments that really disappoints me, these videos are for fun, right? From the perspective of a softball player, I think it’s unfortunate that softball was made to be easier than baseball, but it originated from *indoor* baseball, for men who were handicapped or didn’t want to play outside. That’s just how us girls grew up learning how to play, although I don’t think that means we don’t work as hard or love the sport less than any baseball player. It’s not our fault how softball was made differently, I know that if we grew up practicing and playing baseball just like baseball players have, there’s every reason for us to be just as good as any guy. (By the way, in softball there are normal hardballs and then there are softies, which are what we *usually* use when inside to not damage anything badly. Otherwise we use a ball that is just as hard as a baseball.)

Sports science did an episode on this. Their concussion was it is harder to hit a softball. A softball has more force behind it (Jenny Finch broke the pressure plate), you have less reaction time (43 ft pitching distance vs 70 ft.), and it is easier to bring your hands down than up (baseball pitcher stand on a mound and throw at a downward trajectory while softball pitcher throw rise balls). Anyone who claims softball is easier obviously has never faced a D1 softball pitcher.
Softball is harder than base ball because the ball gets bigger and the pitcher mound gets longer and all the boys do is throw the girls have to go in a full circke
the bigger the ball the easier to hit. Also the pitching mound is closer to the plate. Also, the softball is very bright colored which makes it much easier to see coming at you. And, softball pitchers can go for much longer because of their less strenuous arm action. On top of this, the fields are smaller and the bases are shorter which make it easier for both the hitter and the runners.
Even though both sports are extremely similar, there are differences between them, so in conclusion, both are difficult sports that take skill to understand and get right

As a softball player, the ball is heavier so you have to hit it HARD, it’s a shorter distance from pitchers mound to home, so we have less of a reaction time, plus you have to pitch under hand in softball. @Toomuch Bs There is major league softball. Most sports have professional leagues. It’s not popular or televised often because there isn’t a demand outside of college level. Either way it’s going to be hard to compete at a pro level, easy sport or not.
