  • Join Fletch on an exciting journey to the charming town of Temora, located 400 km Southwest of Sydney. His destination? The renowned Temora Rural Museum is a historical gem with a fascinating story. Established in 1966, the museum opened its doors to the public in 1973 and is now celebrating its momentous 50th anniversary in 2023.
One of the standout attractions is the original home of Sir Donald Bradman, the cricket legend, which was relocated to Temora in 1970.
Like many regional towns, Temora boasts a museum that delves into the town's history and the surrounding region. However, this museum holds a special surprise for visitors-an impressive tractor display featuring over 50 models dating back to 1914. The star of the show is the Julebart tractor, a working example that played a crucial role in replacing horse-drawn equipment. Additionally, the museum proudly showcases the revolutionary 1923 Hart Parr articulated tractor from the US, dramatically changing the course of tractor design.
Rural life wouldn't be complete without the essential services of the rural fire and ambulance departments, which are also highlighted at the Temora Museum. Visitors can explore a collection of vehicles used by these services throughout Australia. A remarkable find is a horse-drawn vehicle from the 1898-1913 era, believed to be the last surviving of its kind that once served Sydney.
The Ambulance Museum takes centre stage with its prized possession-the 1956 FJ Holden. This iconic vehicle has a captivating history. Originally sold by the local Temora Holden dealer, Suttons Motors, it eventually found its way to Western Australia. Fate intervened when a motor mechanic and panel beater named Edward Sims, who was looking for an FJ to restore, discovered that this car had originated from Temora. Today, the fully restored FJ proudly stands in its hometown, showcasing its ambulance livery for all to admire.
Among the other notable vehicles on display are the ZC Ford Fairlane and VH Valiant Ambulances, iconic Australian cars once part of the ambulance fleet. Another exquisite example is the 1938 Chrysler Imperial, cleverly converted with a bootloader. These modifications were born from the vehicle shortage during the war and allowed sedans to be repurposed for ambulance services.
Temora offers a multitude of attractions for visitors to explore and enjoy. In addition to the captivating Tractor and Ambulance Museums, the Temora Aviation Museum is also worth visiting.

Really enjoyed the video, Fletch, of the museum at Temora. First time I’ve heard of this museum. We’ll try and go down to have a look sometime this year. Interesting to see that the FJ Ambulance was restored by a panel beater/mechanic from Raymond Terrace as that is our shopping town from where we live nearby. Always enjoying your videos. They’re always so very interesting. Thank you.

There was an F truck at Walcha when i was a kid; with the 351, it would go like nothing else.
Slowing down & stopping was another story...

The punctuated commentary. That ‘hang the thumb on the pocket’ pose. That Texas stance. Classic.
