I usually don't care when famous people die, but got damn this one hits hard =(
Was an awesome dude.
agradezco a mi viejos x crecer escuchando zeppelin purple beatles ramones y creedence emtre miles de bandas sin desperdicio q me hicieron buscar mas bandas x mi cuenta
Psychedelic Tragedy It was the only time someone dying made me angry.
@Lisa Surlie even if his body was put directly in the ground there wouldn't be anything left except bones for YEARS before you replied, genius.
"Any plan I thought I had about where my life was going to go, I've had to let go of."
Amen. RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman
I met him a year ago Philip in a theatre with his last words to me "I'm happy you came all this way to see me; here's a copy of my next project and go for it" RIP friend and I look for award to seeing you again performing with all the greats in the next life stage.
God, I love that last sentence you wrote.
When he talks about his kids & the intensity & the love. Really hard to watch & hear :'((( . RIP PSH. An amazing artist & human being.
One of the best actors who ever lived. Rest in peace, good sir.
I loved this man for being so real - for the good and the bad. I feel so sorry for Mimi and the kids
What a warm person you are.
Lisa Surlie shut up!
@Lisa Surlie you’re on every video about PSH spewing this hate. Take some time to reflect on your own life instead of projecting your feelings onto people who don’t deserve it. I promise, it will be better for everyone
My heart aches watching this. Particularly when he talked about his kids and partner with such adoration. His death is absolutely tragic.
Yeah. hits hard here too. I was a neighborhood kid with his sister-in-law. His in-laws & partner are awesome & really good people. Heartbreaker.
Went to a party at Mimi's back in the day with her sister when we were in high school. Good times...(shed tear)
Thank you. You brought many great memories to the screen. Rest in peace.
I haven't found out how great an actor he was until quite recently. I saw him do voice acting as the role of Max in Mary and Max, and it was one of the most moving experiences I've ever had watching a movie. I was bawling in tears by the end in large parts because of the quality of his acting. (Though some of it was because that movie touched on a lot of themes which were very personal).
I waited on him at a restaurant I used to work at in NYC. He was such a isolated guy, but very genuine and left a great tip. I said to him "Mr. Hoffman, I've been your biggest fan since Twister…FOOD…FOOD" and he laughed and said "Thank you".. It was a surreal experience that I will never forget.
Thank you for sharing your experience, that's really one of the best things I've read in a while because I can just imagine it! :')
***** so glad you enjoyed this post... Remember how people lived rather how they died... That's my philosophy
winter ramos yeah..I played becky..in jack goes boating...working with him was amazing.
Wow it's been six years since his passing. When I was watching the Oscars (this year 2020) and they were going through all the actors that past away, I was waiting for a picture of Phillip Seymour Hoffman to pop up and it didn't. Not realizing that he died six years ago. Such a great loss. RIP and until we see you again. Valla con Dios.
Mr. Hoffman was amazing in Magnolia and The Savages, Before the Devil Knows Your Dead, to name a few. Loved his intensity. There's a price you pay for that, for investing that much, and he paid the ultimate price.
Very well said. This is something I've noticed about him as well. He seems like a raw nerve emotionally even off the stage, there is an intensity and a genuineness to his personality you very rarely see. And like you said people pay a price for that. :-(
Wow, what a great bloke, intelligent and emotional, RIP...
The world just seems colder and smaller when some people pass. Phillip Hoffman was one of them. Loved him in the big Lebowski and twister...thanks for the laughs and memories. RIP.....
air strombo in the states! i love this show. best indepth interview about the artists and not just to advertise a movie
totally agree, he's a very unique and amazing interviewer. I find his interviews much deeper.
George could give a clinic to the hosts and interviewers in the States. Our crap is so cliche, over edited, over produced and dull it makes me both sick and bored simultaneously.
His mother sounded like an amazing woman, what an inspiration to do what she did at 37.
An amazing actor and in all likeliness a very genuine human being. R.I.P You were loved, sir.
Wonderful human being rip
I love George's approach to chatting with his guests. He has an equally great music programme on CBC Radio 2 on Sunday evenings.
bless whatever may be blessed, we miss you... Mr. Hoffman
Legend, one of the greatest of his generation. Truly a shame, may he rest in peace.
RIP Mr.Hoffman you were truly one of the greatest of all time.
Outcome.
R.I.P.
Powerful. Thank you for sharing this.
I wish my parents told me "just go do it" when I spoke of my ambitions. :/ May he rest in peace. He came from good people, accomplished a lot, and will be remembered.
Such intellect!
much love and respect for this man.
Thank you!
That was such a powerful ending!
Like looking into the sun
Strombo: "Acting is isolating?" Hoffman must have felt that question in his bones.
GREAT interview!
a great interview from begining to end
Love Stroumboulopoulos' interviews. It's honest.
i friggin love 1. Twister. and 2. Before The Devil Knows You're Dead
Philip Seymour Hoffman hasn't in anything in such a long time...
George always treats his guests like humans, and I think that's the difference between him and late night talk show hosts. I love Conan and Letterman, but they all tend to use the celebrities as objects of humour, and they purely just advertise their movies.
Exactly right, that's why i like George, he actually has real conversations with them about things other than their movies or fame or whatever
Ffs man, one of the best men in the world, and he gets taken.
a lot of intelligent comments PSH made. also a little ironic.
Rest in peace!
such a shame. but, he left behind some amazing work that we can all enjoy over and over.
He seemed to had such a lust for living, it's such a shame he had to succumb to drug abuse. What an incredible actor too!
Rip
what a talent....such a shame.
Stop doing drugs - we have so many extraordinary people who've had their lives cut short..when will people learn?
Never
***** I'm the same
Yeah it's so f'n easy. Wake up!!!
Dream1ng Literally the first thing that happens in the video is an acknowledgement of the interview's vintage and reasons given for re-airing it (new context, obviously).
Even if that weren't the case, so what? You basically just accused them of capitalizing on capital. It doesn't bear saying.
George, what happened? this is a perfect comparison about how beautiful you were before losing weight to make CNN happy? and Philip is the perfect example of how you dont need to be skinny to be successful and well regarded in show business...PSH was an epic talent on screen, and you're a gifted interviewer.
*on their capital
he would've been an amazing Penguin in the new Batman. Too bad.
Sad for Philipp that his marriage broke down just before he died. Men are often not the stronger sex emotionally and often don't cope with the loss of loved ones. Unlike women.
Damn Junkie...Sad but he chose to throw his life away.
George Snuffleupagus
You're a fucking dicklock!!!!
heroin killed this man. don't use drugs.
What the fuck kind of last name is that? Stroumba.....ah, forget it! 😴
Loved his kids so much that he was too self centered not to stick a needle in his arm one more time
Nice fake account
for a junkie , he was in some good movies, its just too bad junkies tend to die early
For a human being, he was one of the greatest actors we've ever seen.
He was a good actor yes . but a dumb ass junkie none the less
There's nothing stupid about having a disease. You clearly know nothing of addiction. I politely suggest you don't discuss delicate matters about which you're ignorant.
yeah the first time he was introduced to shoving needles in his arm, he must have thought i have to do this to the extent it kills me because its a disease and i have it
.. fuck off with that. keep sticking up for dumbshit drug addicts like they never had a choice..
They don't. I should know. I am an addict. Clean for two years, and working at it every single day and it is fucking hard sometimes. You know jack shit, so shut the fuck up.
