I was mesmerized by his performances. I couldn’t understand how anyone could so embody a role. I spotted him first in Twister and knew then that he would probably go places. He brought such an intensity to that almost thankless role. He was a standout. Then he started appearing in character roles where you didn’t even know he was in a film until later and then you think back and say, “Wow, he WAS in that, wasn’t he?” In Flawless he was stunning. In Happyness we was frighteningly dark and disturbed. In that Meryl Streep film he was just brilliant. Dark, disturbing, but sympathetic as well. How do you play a child molester who is sympathetic? Because he made him human. I have no sympathy for child molesters, but you got to know him as a person in that role. He truly had fooled himself into thinking what he was doing wasn’t harmful. Scary good performance.

Brad Penrod I was a huge fan of his as a heroin user myself and even worse a fentanyl user I understand what he was going through, but he has to be somewhat at fault when you see his toxicology and how many drugs he was mixing and taking from adderall to alcohol to heroin and benzos and all the other drugs they found in his system the worst part is the dope he was taking wasn’t even mixed with fentanyl so I’m sure if you take all the other drugs out of the equation he prob wouldn’t of died that night. When someone overdoses on heroin more then 80% of the time it’s because they mixed the dope with benzos and other drugs and any other time it’s usually because of low tolerance. In this case he had no chance with the amount of other stuff he was taking.

I always get a kick out of it when it is said of those celebs who die of drug overdoses: he/she was perhaps one of the best actors/singers/comedians/dancers, etc. of our time. Bull,

Daniel Day Luis in There will be blood (Gang's of NY might be as great), Denzel Washington in Training Day, Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman AND there's Philip Seymour Hoffman in Twister 🤔 or Capote probably... Best lead male acting jobs from this generation. He'll always be able to inspire others with the art he left us.

I think they said 7 but if it was 70 that's not uncommon. It actually makes sense. A heroin addict with a lot of money (rare) buys a lot at once. Seems to me he bought a stack. For a total of 10 bundles or 100 individual bags. Probably did three of those bundles and died. I actually read he withdrew 1200 dollars. Which sounds like he bought 2 stacks at 600 a piece

don’t forget for an IV user a bag is one hit, about 0.2g per bag.
70 x 0.2, what 14 grams is that? that’s a lot to be honest, but not unheard of. He died because of his ease of bering able to buy it. Homeless can only afford small amounts at a time. Money was a factor in his demise

A "bag" is 0.1 grams. So 7 grams is 70 "bags" in that sense of the word. Not a crazy amount for a rich person. Ive been an addict and id get 3 grams at a time like every other day, sometimes 6 at a time, so 60 bags although i just got it all in 1 bag

Ledger was nominated for 2 Oscars and won one , and his Joker is considered one of the best performances ever put on screen , thats not really flaming out or not reaching his potential , although he probably had many great ones left in him . River Phoenix I do agree , he could have given so much more. Never saw Cory act.

The best artists are always haunted by personal demons. It's always been that way and will always be that way.

I think it's their career that makes it much more difficult than average people to be well balanced, although some actors like the late Charlton Heston and Natalie Portman seem to handle it quite well.
