Labor acting ‘hysterical’ about Peter Dutton’s nuclear push

  • Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor says the Labor Party has been “hysterical” about the Coalition’s nuclear energy policy.
This follows Opposition leader Peter Dutton revealing the Coalition’s nuclear plan, including the seven sites where they plan to establish the nuclear power stations.
“The Prime Minister should show the maturity to be able to have a sensible debate about that,” Mr Taylor told Sky News host Erin Molan.

Dutton will do the costings however it is the Labor party that hasn't come clean with the costings on the renewable energy transition, Labor might want to get their own act together before saying anything about Dutton.
The costing of the nuclear reactors will blow Labor's renewable energy out of the water, it is just a question of time and patience is a virtue in this regard.
What Labor should be afraid of is that the costing for nuclear will eliminate the expensive transmission lines, the degradation of the environment, the need for having to recycle millions of tons of toxic renewable infrastructure, there will be no need to pay massive commissions to investor rent-seekers or land taxes or ongoing commissions, no need for CO2 emissions for a massive operating staff (was it 600,000 that Labor was taking about) because the nuclear plants can be operated with just a few staff and they operate in the background with zero CO2 and they allow lower electricity prices simply because these plants are close to 100% efficient, they can last up to 80 year or more, they are completely safe and there is minimal impact on the environment.
To make it even worse for Labor, once the nuclear plants are in operation there is no further need to PV solar and wind because this dispersed infrastructure will just be a pain in the butt in terms of operation and environmental problems that can be avoided completely.

It's sickening Dutton getting grilled on costings.
Labor still hasn't given us the costings on renewables except for the CSIRO gencost report and you can drive trucks through that.
We were treated like complete idiots in their cost comparison between renewables and nuclear as they were done on a life span of 30 years.
When have renewables ever lasted 30 years and new reactors are very likely to last 100 years or longer.
They are already getting 80 years out of the old ones.
Bring on the election so we can get rid of Labor.

@@Poorlineforevayes, but in the meantime, under a sensible coalition plan we will still be using gas, coal and renewables until Necluer is up and going. It makes a whole more sense than Blow-out Bowen 's fantasy of thinking that just wind and solar can reliability charge our economy, heat our homes 24/7 and give us cheap reliable energy. It makes a hell of a lot more sense than spending trillions on intermittent energy which would undoubtedly sky-rocket our electricity bills. And yes, the law will change to allow Necluer investment in Australia once the majority of Australians wake up and stop being so bloody paranoid with their child-like fear of Necluer. What is it with lefties?

Now we pay the highest prices in the world to buy it back when we need it from those same huge multinationals. We done even get much in the way of royalties for our gas. Our governments have failed the Australian people on this. 😎👊👍🇦🇺

Wind farms and solar farms have run their race and will not proceed as it has been determined the astronomical costs are not sustainable.
An intermittent form of energy as the main component is unacceptable to industry and the population at large.
The shelf life of solar and wind infrastructure is short term and replacement is cost prohibitive.
Nuclear is a good option as well.
Here's a small sample of how many coal plants there are in the world today. I could go into using the advanced technology of thermally efficient, supercritical steam generators using our own world's best metallurgical coal; but what's the point, it is treated as hearsay and political hyperbole here in Oz.
