Wow long time since any comments. Ok love it glad he finally said the 400 degree part, seen others not one said temp. Thank you
I was wondering that too what degrees he got to put the oven on thank you so much.
bottom was crunchy. never broke through when we ate dinner. was solid to the end. The bowl even tasted amazing. I was surprised. Clean and crispy.
if you put it on the cooking rack not on a sheet they turn out crisper and air circulates around it
Be proud
He read the directions!!!!!
I have these they work good, you just have to keep an eye on them or they'll burn quickly, and use the burrito size tortillas
For me, the problem was that, when baked they're not crisp/crunchy like a tortilla chip. It's like a tortilla that's' been left to dry out on the concountertop for a month, stale.
+MintV2 It's that crispy, crunchy...(deepfried) taste and texture, that no baking pan can replicate. However, for those who wish to eat healthier and don't like cooking with lots of hot oil, this will work.
you could spray the tortilla with butter spray then sprinkle with nacho type salt flavor then toast it.
I like the idea that you can make them ahead of time and store them so even if you only have 4 pans you can make a few batches the night before and reheat them all at once when you have company.
1:23-1:48 close your eyes and tell me thats not a "thats what she said" moment
yes. Should be filming another one this coming week.
I haven't tried it but I have seen something online saying you can use an upside down cupcake pan to make tortilla bowls. I don't know the exact details but I'm sure if you Google it, there is some info on it.
I use this thing all the time for salads! I love it!
Do these need oil/butter?
"It went in easy, I was worried it would pop back out."
That's what she said.. HUEHUEHUEHUHEUEHUE
they are only brown and crispy on the top edges. The rest of the bowl is soft and chewy. Baked in a pan is NO substitute for a crispy, fried bowl.
These are fun. I bought another brand from Amazon years ago and use them occasionally. And yeah, like other commenters said you can use muffin or other types of pans, but the end result doesn't look as nice so it depends if care about such things as these.
If u don't want to get it soft you should spread olive oil inside the tortilla's layer.after it's become cold .
The "magic" bullet and the "party" bullet are made by the same company but are two different things. So maybe you could check it out and see how it compares to there previous product.
with a fork. here is the layers. lettuce on bottom. Ground beef cooked with taco seasoning packet and some taco sauce, shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole and maybe some salsa if you like.
I have used these they are great, but yes they do get soggy after you add your stuffing to them they can't really be sitting for to long with moist fillings. They do come out crunchy you also have to watch the tortilla will bubble sometimes, few times they come out good but a bit rubbery feeling but I think that is due to the tortilla I used. They don't work well with smaller tortillas.
Those cats on that infomercial are having a blast eating these damn shells.
Give me some!
I'll have to look for these. I love taco salads. Thanks Jack
I would like to know if you could use them in other ways...like to make a large cupcake or brownie?
I think in one video he explains why (can't remember which one). If I remember correctly, he says that it is an older house and back in the day kitchens had washer and dryers so the women could do everything in one place to make it easier. He might not have said those exact words but I think it was something along those lines.
@MagnusDeRex if you read the box he has on the counter it says four pans included.
Not my fault. Every walmart in my area (6 of them) all have AS SEEN ON TV sections near the cash registers. They all have them there.
Jack - my results with this product were night and day with your results. I used Ortega flour tortillas, and guess-timated (since mine came with no directions to igno... aah, read), I baked one batch at 400 for six minutes. Tops were crunchy, bottoms tough and chewy. Next batch I tried at eight minutes - same results. Any suggestions on how to get better results (i.e., face down instead of face up, baking them out of the shells for two minutes after the original time)?
I use these for fruit salad with cheese, onion, and shredded lettuce topped with honey mustard dressing. YUM!
How did the tortilla taste? Did it taste good or was it funky?
Lots of OLD replies I see below here....but I had to do a "Like" because we grabbed one of these at a yard sale and it had no directions. New in the box but no instr......This video is spot on and I have to say Thank You !
the bowl tasted clean and crispy. we were surprised. I never eat the bowl, but this one i did.
Did you ever see if the product had the free cut n cup jack.
Never had a taco salad before. What's the proper way of eating it? Do you eat it with a spoon, or with separate tortilla chips or something?
does this work with corn tortillas too? I know they tear easier than the flour ones so just wondering
Great review, could you do one on the 'Edge Of Glory'? It's the knife sharpener and in the commercial, they sharpened a regular card, like credit or gift card and used the card to cut a tomato quite smoothly and clean.
not sure. I have may submissions and I try to do them all. This onion rings type recipe seems cool. I'll just have to try and fit it in. LOL
can't make any promises but it is one I want to do.
I wonder if you could do this with handmade tortillas. I don't buy tortillas here - good luck finding authentic tortillas in Winnipeg - but I do make them.
I have been asked about that a few times. Let me think about this. It sounds awesome.
My mom bought this at a store a while ago, and finally used it last night. It works.
If you think about it you can actually use that pan to bake a cool shaped cake or huge brownie
Hi Jack, can you review the Party Bullet by Magic Bullet. It's currently on Clearance at Target.
The thing about these pans are they are really not that new. I got mine from my mom and she got them from a avon catalog a few years ago. They work great.
Lettuce. Ground beef with taco sauce cooked in. Then top with cheese, sour cream and home made guacamole.
Is the entire thing crispy? or just the edges? is the bottom crispy? this is very important.
Wow that was fast! Thanks! I have only eaten taco once when I was in the US for the first time (this spring), we don't have them in Belgium… We do have tortillas in the supermarket so maybe I can try baking them.
looks good. my mom always cooks tacos or burritos for us but its kinda hard to get the meat into the taco shell because its kinda narrow. ima have to buy me one of those
Hey, how about, take a cupcake tin, flip it upside-down so the bumps stick up, and stick the tortillas in those goves, don't spend you're money, just multipourpose other items :)
did anyone else notice the smiley face in the sourcream at the 3:42?
Would be really cool for dips at a party.
did you try the tortilla shell? was is chewy or crispy?
I bought one at Walmart before I saw this, and it came with 5 pans, and it was a pretty good product.
Who doesn't eat the bowl of a taco salad? that's the best part!
Or you could just flip over a muffin tin if you have one. Saves money. :)
+sonicoffice Who has a muffin tin with holes the size of a tortilla?
+Turtle I believe I said to FLIP the muffin tin OVER, put the tortilla between the cup molds.
sonicoffice still the muffin tin must be huge
+sonicoffice or just take 5 ramekins in a star formation and drop the tortilla's in between >.< .. The length people take just to spend money amazes me..
cool idea.. thanks
jack could you review the jack lalanne power juicer? later on
Whoa the bowl is a total mindfuck at 3:10 when you pick it up it starts looking like it's coming out towards the camera.
Hey Jack, your videos are superb . Can we please have a review of silicone bakeware ?
ya, i have a magic bullet. only thing i use it for is making milkshakes... you know, stuff you want completely thinned out.
but was it crunchy? the bottom of the bowl looked soft when you pulled it out
I bought a set at the red cross op shop for $3, they are absolutely fantastic
I love this product, my mom bought it and its awesome.
Return it and get your money back. Grab your muffin tin pan, and flip it over and you have 6 Perfect Tortilla pans right there.
so is this a product you kept? or did you take it back?
it said it on the box that it comes with 4.
You guys keep saying use an upside down cupcake pan. You can't use that for a 10" tortilla. Only the small ones can be done that way. This product does any size.
Note I said "our" wal-mart. I meant the wal-mart I work at specifically. We don't carry that particular item. The one across town from us does, but we don't. Still not sure why.
and the award for the funniest joke goes too......
agreed!!
yes
You never said what temperature to set your oven unless I missed it and I did I'm sorry could you just tell. me. Thanks :)
Jack, you should review my little pie maker! LOL
"you'll be proud of me cause i read the directions"
hahahah WOW!!
I was skeptical about this product but it actually looks promising. Thanks Jack!
YES
Real Men of Genius: Giant Taco Salad Inventor
Dollar Tree Had Them For A Dollar. I Love Mine. But It Wasn't That Brand Your Showing But Works Great. Hmm Thinking About Doing A Taco Bowl Dinner Tonight. Thanks Jack
whoa thats so cool!!! you can reheat those??? who would have guessed....
Holy crap, it worked. As compared to the eggies product or the pancake pen.
i think i will be buying a few of them thank you jack for reviewing them.
Lol I'm aware of that sire. I live in central Texas, whole different selection of items. Thus my point as to why we wouldn't carry it.
He hasn't struggled with it. He enjoys every second! (rimshot) (I don't think Jack is an alcoholic, for the record.)
hey jack, when are you going to do my recipe I sent you? and if your going to do i, is it possible for you to fit it in next Friday? or even tomorrow? ( almost 100% no chance, just really wan you to do it.)
And I bought one off of Amazon it was like $10 and some change
I bought one too off of Amazon for $10 lol
Jack, it’s been requested so many times because you look like the demonstrator in the infomercial :)
Thank you for this review I will get this at Walmart xoxo
You can get the exact same result turning a muffin pan upside down putting the tortilla in the center.
Why are your washer and dryer in the kitchen?
CologneCarter well he is in america. Here it is not standard
TheNicolla1234
It's not standard in America either haha.
***** that is what i said
chris moss. In a lot of older houses that's where they are. I know it's crazy. In my old house my washer was next to the stove.
I like when u show the infomercial before hand
Jack did you know you can use the bottom of a cupcake pan?
I love your videos, but i got the party bullet for christmas and it is really incredible. works for me every time :D
Not a chance of using these. I have a double sieve clamp, add a 10” tortilla and sink it in 350 deg veg oil. Takes 50 seconds and you get the lightest, crispest bowl that tastes great and can withstand the ingredients making it soggy. Baking it just makes a hard dry bowl that will soak up moisture like a sponge. Yes, you need large vat of oil which doesn’t get dirty and can be kept.
Wow these look tight, I will have to order some. Does the amazon link have a referral code for you when I order?
That's what she Said, on a few Comments
I love how the infomercial and the Box both say 5 minutes but yeah the instruction Says 7 to 10 minutes
I got this item for my wife. Paid $10.95 at Walgreens. She made 4 bowls and followed directions exactly like this video shows, the only problem....they stuck to the non stick surface and some of the teflon peeled off on the tortilla bowls. We returned the damaged bowls and hope the new ones dont do this.
He did the Magic Bullet already. He had massive operator error and he made it suck.
ill find one in the flea market.
I bet you could just do that with any non-stick funny-shaped cake pan :)
i like how the info commercial said in just 5 minutes but yet the instructions said 7 min
how many did it come with?
I have this and I love it!
Thanks for posting Jack
