I don't wanna be a smart ass but I think everybody knew Joel would die in a sequence back then. I mean what else would be as impactful? There were even theories about the Joel who appears in the trailer being a ghost because of the omnous entrance. The big question was are they able to give him a worthy goodbye.

I really hope you can keep the whole group that played the original game. Because I wasn't able to play, it was so great to watch them play, see all the different choices and skill levels, and get to watch the story unfold. That's what I thought too.
My theory: the Fireflies killed Joel for his actions in the last game, and now Ellie's on a rampage to kill all of them; the Joel she talks to is a figment of her imagination due to PTSD.

The fact that you came to a conclusion that Ellie is plotting to kill Joel baffles me even more.
Hmm.. I'm still on the fence. You have good points but when Joel speaks, she seems to look right at him and respond. There's other ideas going around that Ellie had a baby and her kid was taken (maybe due to being immune like her) and she's on the hunt for those people. Maybe it's both, Idk. Either way, I'm super pumped for this game but I'm gonna be saddened if Joel dies though. Also saddened that the release is over a year away too lol.

I love how everybody is so emotionally attached to Joel and Ellie. The Last of Us was such a powerful experience, it was even more than just a game. It was like this indie movie, you got to go through with them. Amazing game, amazing performances, amazing music, ... Did I use the word amazing already? I should.
These kids are great. I watched the entire series with them playing TLOU1. I'll be glad to watch them play Part 2, AFTER I play it first.
