  • The first two 3 Squadron Hornets arrive at RAAF base Williamtown, piloted by WGCDR Bruce Mouatt and SQNLDR Ross Fox, on the 29th of August, 1986. The aircraft were assembled at Avalon, Victoria.

    Squadron Leader Ross Fox…love of my life. Killed on training excercise 2 August 1990, aged 39. Loved forever

    I remember seeing the F-18 hornet for the first time ‘for me’ with the last flight of the Mirage’s in 1986 at the Laverton airshow !! 👍🇦🇺

      @@youwebz he was killed when his F/A-18 was involved in a mid air collision near Tindal Air Base back in 1990.

    I think the woman on the left is Vicky, Ross Fox’s wife and two boys.

    New fighters are generational lived through 4 so far f35 may be the last.

    That shot with the Hornet trailing the camera aircraft, it looks fantastic from that angle with the leading and trailing edge flaps extended, must be keeping quite a slow speed there! Also those curved intakes are much more pleasing, to my eye, than the intakes on the Super Hornet. Nice one me Aussie mates!
