- Old car, new DIY experiment with Liquid Nitrogen! We poured around 20 liters of liquid nitrogen in the gas tank and took our Daewoo Lanos for a drive (yes, the same car we used in many of our videos :)
Will it even start? Will this lead to permanent damage to the engine?
Well, we found out for you! :) Ultimate durability test for our stunt car!

@@bobsterclause342 it froze the seam seal on the tank to the point it was so brittle it just broke and the tank separated where it was bonded together. no explosion.

You can get the car going, you just need to get new parts for it, but it might take a while due to liquid nitrogen

Sure it does!! Since the car is no longer running, no miles are being put on it. ZERO stress on the motor and trans. Who knows how long those tires will last, there's zero tread wear. Put it up on blocks, cover it, and in the right environment it'll still be ok in 40 to 50 years. So yeah, it'll last A LOT longer!!! 😁

теперь я знаю как бак выпрямить, наливаем азот, надуваем бак, открываем крышку испаряем азот и готово
Лучше это сделать обычным воздухом из насоса...Берёте резиновую пробку(заткнуть горловину бака) в пробке высверливаете отверстие(сквозное) и вкручиваете нипель от безкамерки...затыкаете этой пробкой отверстие бака и включаете компрессор для накачки колёс... и смотрите что бы бак именно выпрямило,а не разорвало)))

Yes but as nitrogen was in the tank, basically he inerted the tank as nitrogen is not flammable but it evaporated therefore pushing the remaining fuel vapours in to the ignition system and that’s why the car could start only for a very short time. The tank had thermal shock from the cold temperature of the nitrogen. It’s evaporating temp is at -196 C -320 F

The bottom half - extreme cold, top half unfilled so the GoPro can stay alive. Huge thermal stress on the seam where the two halves are joined, which promptly failed.

Needs a pressurized tank and a converter unit to compress and regulate the nitrogen flow to the engine. You are close to it. Now find the information that will work for your car. A nitrogen tank is easy to find from a welding shop or place like that. Once that is done your almost ready and best of luck keep at it. 😊❤
Not a bad idea actually. Just need a fuel tank and engine capable of handling cryo liquid, and cryogenic insulation all the way. And some very good heat exchanging capacity of engine. The massive expansion as the N2 comes to room temp will produce enough power to drive the car.
Now that's a cold start 🤣 I'm surprised the car even move at all. I wonder if combustion was really taking place or was the LN2 just gets compressed and pushed back on the pistons?

I think the only real reason the gastank would have exploded its bottom off like that was just due to pressurization from all the liquid nitrogen fumes.
Liquid nitrogen boils at ambient temps......sealed fuel systems will explode.

Didn't anyone ever tell you that liquid nitrogen is not flammable? The only reason the car started at all is because there was still gasoline left in the lines. You should learn the difference between nitrous oxide and liquid nitrogen.

If he used a injection system simular to nos canister might have lasted longer. Wish we cold have seen what affect it had on the engine temperature. I was also wondering that might cause the engine to explode after it cold welded the piston to the calendar wall glad he made it out safe
Only need to change the gas tank, there is a small vent, but there was too much gas expension and open it in half^w^
There’s liquid nitrogen in the engine it’s done for.
I'm not sure if it has reached the engine, cuz they didn't show if the filter had been changed in the video. the engine had run with the left over fuel in the filter and the high pressure pump.
A lot of the pipe may have an instant freeze and block it :D

Tank likely blew up when the ecm caused the evap purge valve to open for a self test... caused air low pressure ... and the nitrogen to boil thus blowing up the tank

Pretty much what I figured would happen. You put a lot of effort into this video, good job. You gotta be careful. You could have frozen your lungs if it expelled into the car. If you're going do something like this in an enclosed space in the future wear appropriate PPE like a SCBA.

I think they knew exactly what would happen. Liquid nitrogen tanks are specially made with an inner liner and other laminated materials.
Nitrogen fueled cars will be more expensive than ev's. The only way around that will be some kind of hybrid system.
Never try this at home with liquid nitrogen.
