Apparently G0-T0 is the leader of the ENTIRE exchange, and was a republic droid that was given an impossible choice between 1. Saving the republic and 2. Not break republic laws. He couldn’t do both and eventually he broke and did whatever he deemed necessary for #1 and dropped #2
So that little droid is not only one of the most powerful crime lords to ever “live”, he was the most powerful droid to possibly ever exist.
I finally looked up his full influence story since I never did it in my many playthroughs.

I have been on a Bioware (thanks to DADW) and Star Wars binge as of late and as that includes KotOR, KotOR 2 and SWTOR, it saddens me to see a good storytelling studio like Bioware stoop to completely dissing something that another studio added to a franchise.
Disney de-canoning the expanded media did an absolute disservice to KotOR 2 and The Old Republic fans in general.

    • @TY-km8hj

Fr, ppl legit forget the massive impact koto 2 has. Everyone loves revan but forget that it was acc kotor 2 that gave him a proper characterisation and he doesn't even show up. While I am upset that Disney de canon the entire EU and is taking the iconic stuff and watering it down, I'm not as angry as before since there was stuff in the EU that either contradicted the movies and TCW (and what Disney wanted to do. Hell some of the post ROTJ EU contradicted what GL had in mind for the sequels or wasnt good.
Don't get me wrong, 80% of the EU is great, but the other 20% is stuff that aged BADLY or wasnt that great to begin with, ie the late 70s and 80s comics by Marvel, Dark Empire, Mara Jade, The Old Republic, the whale story (forgot the name), Karen Travis' later books, Kinect Star Wars, and those Winnie the Pooh aliens.
And even within the 80% of great EU material, 40% is stuff that contradicts the 6 movies, TCW and what George originally had in mind with the sequels (2D clone wars cartoon, the OG clone wars republic comic books, the older TCW EU comics before Di$ney's purchase, 2002 clone wars game, and even Dark Forces, the Jedi Knight games, and the Thrawn trilogy), and the other 40% is stuff that I and many other agree Di$ney should've definitely left alone because it was perfectly fine and didn't contradict anything Lucas depicted or planned (the Jango Fett bounty hunter game, republic commando and the scrapped imperial commando, the Darth Bane trilogy, the darth plagueis novel and the KOTOR games).
For the past 7 years, I've realized that the controversy of Di$net cancelling the EU is not as black and white like many EU fans and EU haters make it seem. That's why nowadays, I try to stay away from discussions about the EU on non-EU star wars videos and forums.

Actually they did survive the Eternal Empire. Koth, a former Zakuulan separatist, mentions around 3628-3627 BBY that the Exchange is trying to fill the power vacuum on Zakuul and has established a presence there. So they're definitely powerful enough to afford an operation all the way out in the Wild Space. Or maybe the were forced to relocate since the Empire seems essentially outlawed the Exchange on its own territory.

Bioware never really wrote the Exchange very well. I always rolled my eyes when I walked into Davik's house with Bastila at my side and the dummy idiot did not know who she was, and insisted on running a "thorough background check" on the player. Then we get to Nar Shaddaa in SWTOR, and the Ukabi storyline. Ukabi is a cyborg supersoldier who is geared towards fighting Sith. Not the sort of character that would really fit the bill of a galactic crime lord. Ukabi is written more like a muscle-type character. The dumb brute who would be in service to the actual Exchange leadership in the sector, especially in the criminal jungle that Nar Shaddaa was supposed to be. Kotor 2 did a far better job at writing crime bosses than bioware ever did. Remember the hutts on K1? They felt more like lowly clerks or petty minor businessmen with their swoop tracks and bounty hunter guilds than a megalomaniacal race of criminal masterminds. At least on SWTOR they represented the cartel a little better

The fact KotOR2 gets shafted so hard both in the Revan novel and The Old Republic makes me think BioWare may have some kind of grudge against Obsidian? I could be wrong, but didn't BioWare suggest Obsidian after turning down doing a KotOR sequel themselves because they "didn't want to end up making just Star Wars games"? So it'd feel weird that they'd treat KotOR2 like this, but if it's because they were jealous of KotOR2 being regarded as the better game and their name isn't attached to it, it might make some sense? I don't know, I'm just trying to think of why BioWare would treat KotOR2 the way it has been after working on the Thje Old Republic as a follow-up and that's really all I can think of. And if I'm anywhere near right about it (I'm most likely not, probably just me conspiracy theorizing or whatever), then the people running BioWare in charge of stuff like this needs to get their egos checked.

In a fan novel I wrote a few years back we find that the Exchange is still operating during and after the films; G0-T0 was still around (droids are effectively immortal, after all) and had been secretly funding the Rebel Alliance and undermining the Empire in order to restore the Republic that he was programmed to serve & protect.
