If they are killing to compensate for the killing of blacks by white supremacist governments in both countries then that should be ok!
I'm Zimbabwean. The warmth of the staff is definitely a big plus. Planes are a bit old but we're expecting some great positive growth. So the next time you come you will be even more impressed. We're excited about the future. God Willing.

Please note that Air Zimbabwe has a zero crash record. Staff are pleasant, the food is alright and it’s usually a smooth flight. The planes are old but new ones are coming.
Nicole Taruvinga Oh of course Air Zimbabwe is as safe as Lufthansa or Swissair. No difference at all. Plus the threat of kicking you out of the plane for just filming, just standard also in Western countries Airlines. * sarcasm *

Yes ofcource..Zimbabwe airlines world safest airline ne ...and I love black beauties girls zimbabwe
James Coco oh my god. Shut up.
Im a real republican at heart and have my reservations with certain safety aspects in less developed countries but James Coco, stfu... Nicole has a genuine point. the classification of Zimbabwe airlines is not correct with 0 crashes.
I'm South African and Zimbabwe is our neighbour, to call their Airline the unsafest in the world is a horrible stretch. You never hear of Zimbabwean planes crashing, unlike some of the western and US airplanes. It's not fair to say that.
Because there are more number of planes running in west and US so they have higher crash.you have to compare the average not the total
Air Zimbabwe has like 6 planes obviously they’re gonna have less accidents
Thank you for clarity on that
@@pbjman5809 Um, more like no crashes at all.
@@rustyscrew5776 because they have like 6 planes, I’m really not sure what’s confusing about that

All things considered, Air Zimbabwe doesn't look too bad. Whilst the country has a long road to recovery and is in dire need of investment, the fact that Air Zimbabwe is still going is hopefully a source of pride for the people. Cheers Sam!
It has a Boeing 737-200, any serious airline would have replaced this plane.
That's pretty much the last two aircraft left. So many delays, changing flight schedules, etc.
The problem is with maintenance, not many skilled staff left plus all the other aircraft have been stripped of parts so you can imagine what they do to fix things.
Well said 👍
It's not for lack of local demand that the airline is still going. It's the disparity between their economy, and the American/German economies where one might source a new aircraft - or even up-to-date parts. The cost of a new aircraft is significantly greater to that airline, simply because the seller's economy outmatches theirs.
Now, if we could somehow produce safe, reliable aircraft within the economy, even just prop aircraft, we might get somewhere.
Oliver: maybe so, but raw death counts mean nothing. It's the fatality risk per flight that matters.
Sam, I just found your channel. I spent several decades as a traveling business consultant and have traveled about 1.7 million miles around the US, Europe and Australia/NZ. I absolutely *LOVE* watching your videos.
You may have the best job in aviation I've ever seen! Right on!
Zimbabweans are kind hearted people ❤️......
Iam a kenyan and i agree...
Food for thought: Air Zimbabwe is so unsafe that their only crashes were in 1978 and 1979, when their planes were shot down by missiles; if not for those incidents for which they can't be blamed, they'd have a perfect flight record. They seem to possess a better track record than so many "safe" airlines.
I think you're referring to Air Rhodesia 825 and 827.
ZIPRA shot down 825 and massacred most of the survivors and 827 ZIPRA shot down and everyone died on board.
When you say "they" can't be blamed ... to whom are you referring when you say "they"?
@@therealhousewifeofghosthun2849 well..
Would you blame the airline if a aircraft is shot down?
No, that was in the colonial period
Air Zim didn't exist in 1978 and 1979. Those were Rhodie planes shot down by guerillas
I think Sam is actually supporting Air Zim. He’s not saying Air Zim is the most dangerous, but is saying ‘Air Zim most dangerous?’ which implies that he’s here to prove that Air Zim is not dangerous as what most people think. I think he did a great PR job for Air Zim. 👍
Yea but he didn't prove that it's not the most dangerous. Just because his flight didn't crash doesn't mean the airline is complying with the international safety standards.
Ewww I would be worried I didn't even know zib had an airline 😂
I wonder ooo
I agree with this comment. I think the title is inappropriate. Liked the video but waited for an explanation of the title which didn't come.
Still, there are some airlines I won't go near. China Airlines springs immediately to mind.
Flew from Harare to Vic Falls many years ago. Lovely, warm staff, unlike most airlines where they're formal & sometimes cold. Love the people of Zim, it's not their fault their government has wrecked the country.

I love the way he chooses different background songs according to different themes of different places. Keep it up.
By watching this video, I can tell that Air Zimbabwe has amazing hospitality, and the staff seem very nice. It’s cool how they gave the eco passengers some GOOD food. If they could remodel the interior a bit, and make the outside shine. They are an amazing airline overall, in my opinion.
I agree with you !

Are we just going to ignore both the 737 landings, they were really smooth
Interesting plane - so old but interesting to see when it was new Air Zim obviously were super proud when they first ordered it, having gone to all the trouble to get the custom decor and artwork on the cabin bulkheads and dividers. It's actually nice to see that it spent all the time with it's original owners too - so many others would have wound up with a minor operators and had some crappy upgrade to remove all the original features. It's like a little time capsule back into happier times for both the airline and her nation.
These planes might be old compared to western standards, but when you have little...you take cared of your stuff and make them work.
And sometimes old is better esp when it comes to longevity and reliability.
But the question is are Boeing still making parts for these old 737s if only a handful of airlines are flying them?
Only if it’s safe to 😂

This brought back many happy memories for me regarding my time living in Bulawayo. I flew from London Gatwick to Harare and then a connection to Bulawayo. As we were landing in Bulawayo, the pilot cranked up the power for a fly around. He spoke on the intercom and informed us that landing had been postponed due to a donkey wandering on to the runway, it’s visible from the starboard side. And there was some ground crew trying to persuade the donkey to leave the runway. We circled twice and eventually landed ten or fifteen minutes later.
A go-around is a safe completion of an approach. This is a very common event in the congested and weather-ridden airspace of the USA. A professional crew always briefs the go-around/missed approach so it is never a surprise when we have to perform one.
I love these videos because it shows the beauty in cultures and aviation across the world. These people are beautiful, pleasant and love what they do. Thanks for this video!
I love the sound of the old JT8D engines and it's a pleasure to see them in action today.
This video shows little to nothing about how safe or dangerous Air Zimbabwe is but that's not something I expect to see from Sam. What we did get to see is the unexpected free sandwich that looked better than sandwiches I've had to pay for on flights much longer. The Crew are also a pleasant surprise, they're very authentic and those smiles were real and all over their face, not those fake smiles on many cabin crew that are only put on the lips and are instantly gone the moment they turn their heads away.
wow! beautiful comment!

Very Impressive airline! Perfect SAFETY record. Can't beat that!
Seeing those thrust reversers kick in really hammers in how aged those birds are. Think of it this way, from a model/miniatures point of view, those airframes have such character, every beaten panel, streak of rust, and slight misalignment from stock are unique touches.
No. The airline has an excellent safety record. It has never had a crash since it started operating. Statistically, British Airways is less safe than Air Zimbabwe.
Really not sure that's true. Statistically, when an airline with very few total flights has no crashes, can its crash rate really be known? This is illustrated by the Concorde, which by conventional statistics was one of the very safest airplanes in the world, until the day it crashed, when it suddenly became one of the most dangerous. But I get your point. :)
I'm glad you get my point.
Yes, it made my day too.
Depends on no of planes and frequency of flight

Exactly. If you have only , say, one flight a year, then no crashes does not = an excellent safety record.

Zimbabwe is a beautiful country. Yes, it may have a lot of problems, but the people are friendly and probably very resourceful. The airports looked nicely designed and clean, and had some interesting local products to try. That 737 looked comfortable, and something to really think about, a regional flight on an airline in a poor country gives out free lunch and coffee. Find an airline in the "rich" countries that does that. I'd fly that airline...if I ever get the chance to go to Zimbabwe.

I worked for Air Zim for over 9 yrs (till Dec.2001) maintaining the fleet's engines. What I would like to say to anybody who have qualms taking off in Air Zim aircrafts is this: their maintenance personnel are a notch above any you can find at any airline you can think of.

Shame! I used to fly Air Zimbabwe from Harare to London back in the early 90s on that 767 (200 ER). There were two 767s - Chimanimani and Vic Falls. Before that, the 707 serviced the route - via Athens, Greece. The 707 couldn't make a direct flight to London due to low fuel capacity. There was no inflight entertainment on the 707 - not even music. But there was on the 767, the same entertainment system which, it's sad to note, is no longer working. There was a communal screen at the front of each aisle and one movie was screened per night/flight. The airline was run down due to a succession of very corrupt leaders, one of whom - Peter Chikumba - is currently serving a jail sentence for an insurance scam which defrauded the airline. My father worked for that airline for 22 years.
The 707s did fly directly to London. I flew in them many times before the 767s arrived. The Athens flight did a stop in Larnaca. I remember them vividly because my ears used to hurt when making the approach into Larnaca and hated that leg of the flight. My mum worked for the airline for 22 years as well :D.
taridean oh, I remember taking the 707 flight via Athens and assumed it was a refuelling stop-over. And yes, it was the noisiest aircraft back then.
I hear people say Bangladesh airline is dangerous too
@@MegaLmae They were noisy, but a beautiful aircraft none the less. I kind of miss them. My ears used to hurt due to the descent over water into Larnaca, not the noise of the Pratt & Whitney engines.
Due to the most unreasonable boikots of the then Rhodesia(Zimbabwe) these aircraft were leased from South African Airways. They were later sold to that country but were serviced on a regular basis by SAA technicians. Since 1994 this do not happen anymore. Nobody know who do the maintenance work on these aircraft. Presently out of the 6 aircraft they got only 3 is operational. Zim air is prohibited to fly internationally with their aircraft. This is only one tiny aspect falling apart due to greedy politicians.. 😌
