Welcome back to Teachers Off Duty!
Join our hosts Mark Schumacher, KC Mack, and HonestTeacherVibes herself, Bri Richardson as they hold nothing back and spill the teacher tea of the drama that unfolds when overzealous parents meet questionable school policies.
Could you believe a parent would actually sneak around and go through another students’ files? They just wanted to know what other students scores were so they knew their son’s “ranking”. Sure...
That's tame compared to one parent who's child was serving an in-school suspension for having told his teacher to "[retracted]". His mother punished him by bringing him a Subway sandwich, cookies, and soda at lunch.
It's not all ridiculous or infuriating. Just last week, a parent snuck a bottle of wine in with their child as a gift to their teacher. While we REALLY appreciate the gesture, we're not sure if this is the best way to say "thank you."
Can you guess in what state a parent would trade four wheels for four legs at the school pick-up? It was surely a sight to see and gives new meaning to ‘horsing around’ after the bell.
Gallop, don't walk! This week's episode of Teacher's Off Duty will infuriate you, humble you, and probably having you feel better at your next parent-teacher conference.

This happened before ChatGPT and such started getting popular. I had a native Japanese speaker turn in her report for her Japanese class in GERMAN! She hit the wrong button when she had Google translate it for her. How did she not even NOTICE that it was in the wrong language?!?!?
I remember once I was submitted an essay in Spanish, which was not being taught at the school 😅
i was giving my intirim assessment and a parent personally delivered their child a Starbucks...came into the classroom, handed it to him, etc. he was so embarrassed! And I was so shocked I was without words.
Oh wow. They couldn’t they just have them pick it up at the office?? Either way.. kinda makes the other students feel some kind of way
Isn’t that a violation of test security?
I had a migraine at sleep away camp and my mother drove up to give me McDonald's and dunkin donuts coffee and fought with the teachers that were there to keep us safe that she could be there, like mom,at least call the program head before you come here 😒.
Oh yes! 😅 I've seen it! They drop it off at the front office 😂 Completely against school policy
The way Bri laughs gets me every time! I love watching her 😂
My Girl Scout troop did participation trophies the right way. You would get a very obscure award that was a call back to something funny that happened throughout the year or what you were known for. Like I got “master s’mores maker” one year because I was obsessed with cooking and would make them for everyone at camp weekends. We were 9-10, and it was just a fun way to feel like the troop leader did know us and brought us together.
I had a parent demand that I pass their student even though the student hadn't turned in a single assignment. They felt that if a student has an IEP they shouldn't have to do any work in order to graduate.
My chest is hurting. Why are you like this KC 😂😂😂😂😂
Everyone need to watch Christopher Titus talk about Participation Trophies
I love KC Mack and Bri. They are both amazing!
The breastfeeding KILLLLLED me LOLOLOL
Our Head Start kiddos have always been a part of & can purchase Year Books in both school districts I taught/teach in.
The grading system today gives them stupidity awards. What happened to work for the above 70 to pass system. I'm so glad my son graduated, but makes them not work harder. It's a stupid system. The world is right to think we are dumb and entitled. Let the kids work harder for their grades like we did.
Schools around me set up the school day so that all the core classes are in the morning so if a kid got checked out early it would be during gym, band, study halls etc.
OH-MY-GOD!!!! These parents are seriously nuts!!!!!😮
😂😂😂😂
Great episode I haven't been tuning in lately cuz CZcams unsubscribe me from the channel and I'm glad to be back catching up on all the latest.
Depending on the age of a child and wearing hoodies sometimes they're hiding bruises either from themselves or their parents.
Now I'm all caught up. I love you guys ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉
This has to do with janitorial. When I was living with my mom last year, she got a job at the school as a janitor. She told me and my brother that we had to come help her at work. I refused despite giving me an attitude. A random person cannot just go on a campus not employed. My aunt (an admin) said that we could. I called the school system and obviously they said this couldn't be done 😅
A school just outside of Tulsa ok, they have a 4h/ag elective... there is a barn at the highschool where people literally have their animals. And once a year people will ride their horses to school.
I give my kids' teachers wine as presents all the time (cuz I used to be a teachers and I know my kids) but I deliver that crap myself
Ngl, I wore a hoodie basically at all times in a high school as a security thing and I never thought of it being that unitl now. It was for sure.
As an Aussie who went through the education system in the 80s and 90s I love hearing how different the system I went through conpared to the US and UK where ive lived for 20 yrs and also how things have changed over time (i cant imagine social media during high school). I moved around a lot 9 schools in total due to my dads work. All private catholic schools with a mix of coeducational and girls schools. Firstly, I could not imagine aa a student or a parent no uniform. Non uniform days during sxhool was stressful enough so having that every day...hard pass. None of my schools had security guards, no metal detectors, in fact alot of my schools barely had gates. I took my lunch every day as the cafeteria system didnt exist. Australian schools or districts dont have school boards which I find weird. I had a mix of strict schools i.e outside school grounds if you were caught not wearing your blazer Saturday detention to less strict. Teachers were called Sir and Miss and absolutely no back chat. Im friends with one of my high school teachers im 46 and I still call him Mr V even though he aays use my first name. I can't imagine going to school with police patrolling, shooter drills, metal detectors. It is do different to what i grew up with.
I have one that gets checked out every 4-6 to get a new perm and haircut.
3:08...😂😂😂reminds me of that one interview with kevin hart nd don cheadle😂😂😂😂
Kids need to learn that everything isn't equal. Like we hand out necklace beads for doing one of communication, care, commitment, corruption, but not everyone will get one. You earn them, and after that student picks who gets it next for doing one of those things.
Good afternoon. I'm not a teacher and I want to come. Where in Louisiana are you coming?
Shreveport
I taught a financial literacy class for seniors. I had a girl fail the first semester because the day of the final--which was 20% of the semester grade--she was having her nails done. At the time it was a new low for me. Naturally they fought me on it but that was a hill I chose to die on.
Shout out from Indonesia. I love your content so much ❤
