actually, i dont think he was enjoyning the party that much, not talking about the karaoke but the whole random things that happened before after that. I mean, he only want to have a good time with Scarlet, and at the begining she was with her japanse friends. Idk, at least that was what i felt in the whole party scene
@@MrRustyspot i don't think that they didn't like each other, but scarlett did say she found bill difficult to work with. whatever bill did made it work.
The moment they silently ackowledge that they have fallen in love.... Sweet ,Beautiful and Innocent I have watched this movie more times than I care to admit...
Just watched the movie. This scene alone lifts the entire film. A great song by Roxy Music, Scarlett's look, when Bill says "There's nothing..." and you can see him just break. I honestly don't think the film would have been half as good without this scene.
Think Bill had a blast making this film. The scenes shot were spectacular and the chemistry between he and Scarlett Johansson were off the charts. One of my favorite films, and arguably one of the most visually stunning films done that I've ever seen.
While we all knew that Charlotte fell in live with Bob (Bill Murray). The argument can be made that he fell in love with her during this scene. At :055 the way he looks at her and she give him that flirtatious yet innocent look back Bob had to have felt it, considering the words he was singing, and knew how unhealthy it would be for both of them. Him being married with a kid. Her a frail confused younger married girl feeling alone and perhaps neglected by her husband. Who I always thought was having an affair with Ana Farris' character. He felt it and knew that it could ruin both of them. And since we do know and may will never know what he told her at the end of the film. We can only guess how it could have gone.
i cant watch this film anymore the ending just breaks me its tragic! we need a part 2 set 20 years later want to see these 2 characters Bob and Charlotte find each other again end up together finally come on Sofia??
The thing I love about this version compared to the Roxy Music version is that the emphasis here is on the words of the chorus. Listen to both back to back and you can see and hear why Bill sings the song the way he does.
Painful to hear him sing this song BUT this scene is sooooo good I watch it over and over again. I love Scarlett's singing of "Brass In Pocket" thought, excellent job Scarlett.
at 19 i met a very beautiful older woman, she was perfect in every way ,as with all things in love , it never does work out the way you want ,so to hear this song again brings it all back, and even to this day i wish she could understand there was nothing more than this
Frank Johansen well if you cant go to japan Next best thing is meet a lovely japanese beauty here in usa and have your own lost in translation experience
I did not get the point of this movie at all. Bill Murray was much better in movies like "Stripes" and "Ghostbusters". Scarlett Johansen was much better where she did that superhero stuff, and I guess, if you want drama, where she played that girl in the Vermeer painting. What was this movie even about? Just an old guy with acne scars meeting a pretty young girl in Tokyo? Who cares? It made no sense.
I have always loved this song, but only Bill‘s version made me really feel the lyrics. The way he puts his heart in it tells us so much about the man who’s singing. ❤️
I guess it's true with what they say, "Even a ant will achieve a woman fan base whom will fall in love with it as a (impossible) potential fantasy soulmate if it get enough screen time in a cheap on budget film about 15 minutes of impossible no fame" 🥰 🐜
hit it, "Bob"! I actually owned a Japanese 2 CD release of Brian Ferry's.. which I purchased from Tower Recds on Clark St. Chicago, when it was open for a little tiny minute. that store was like a museum; that day I also picked up the EMI La Boheme, blah blah. memories, like the corners of my.. oh frick it :D
This video and the comments are old, societies have changed a lot to the worse. Being emotional and irrational is being seen by many in a negative tone nowadays. So, when I say that I miss those times, that is not aging. That is missing opportunities to meet someone the way those two characters meet. Irrational. Emotional. With no perspective. BUT SO FUKIN BEAUTIFUL. This is what being human is about, aside all of that rational stuff that needs to be there, certainly. I wanna be human and irrational, at least in my private life.
Incredible scene. One of the best in the film. But Bill Murray's voice sounds pretty strange when it's pitched up like that ;) (yeah, I know, trying to avoid the copyright bots - thanks for uploading!).
Hello i love this moment of the film, is really good. But i have a question. how can i upload a scene of a film like this one without youtube block it because of the copyright. Answer me please
OK breakdown. 0:48 Scarlett looks at Bill with love in her eyes. At 0:54 Bill looks at her singing/saying more than this. You know there is nothing. Telling Scojo they should not take this any further. Best Love story since Dr. Z!
No, that's incorrect. This entire movie is about soulmates and the tremendous gravity of destiny. You missed the entire fucking point. Watch it again, in slow motion, and take notes. JFC.
@@hxhdfjifzirstc894 Yes you're right the WHOLE FILM is about soulmates and the tremendous gravity of destiny. My comment was about the scene which is very haunting, not the whole film.
It’s not a bad way to spend a mid-life crisis. Hanging around with Scarlet Johansen and going to cool parties in Tokyo.
actually, i dont think he was enjoyning the party that much, not talking about the karaoke but the whole random things that happened before after that. Their chemistry in this movie is absolutely amazing.
+Scott McGillivray Very true. The way this was written, the scene filmed and just the chemistry between the two make this scene very captivating.
Their chemistry was in fact so good, that Bill Murray decided on the spot to give ScarJo a kiss in their last scene.
Actually I hear they didn’t like each other. Clearly if that’s true it didn’t matter to on screen chemistry.
@@TheJohnnywbred Oh really? I didn't know that. You're right... it sure doesn't show on screen!

A wonderful scene. It's simple but it's pure - one of the greatest movie scene ever.
Singing this song in a karaoke bar in Kyoto in 2012 was one of my favourite experiences of that trip.
I hate you, I have to wait til 2023 to go and do it!
Did that in Kyoto in 2014. In the same way as Bill Murray sings it in LiT. Most amazing night of my life.

I completely fell in love with Bill Murray in this movie...
Scarlett is that you?
I liked the way he looked her, "I'm a old guy but I can still seduce you"
This movie changed my life.
The beautiful awkwardness of their relationship
100%
If you can get an Oscar for the scene, this one is absolutely winner.
I love the innocence of this entire film. Only this director can ever capture and I appreciate that greatly!
I don't think Bob Harris' cheating on his wife is "innocent."
Bill Murray absolutely kills this scene.
its the idea
Everything Bill Murray touches turns to gold!
Bill Murray and Brian Ferry......what a combo...2of my favorites
Bryan Ferry please ...
One of my favorite songs ever... was shocked when I saw this film the first time
Is there anything finer than Scarlett Johansson in lost in translation? Damn she was fine.
This song was a great pick for the overall theme of the movie
The moment they silently ackowledge that they have fallen in love.... Sweet ,Beautiful and Innocent

every karaoke venue in the world should now have this song, for all the romantic lovers out there
it is so beautiful... that singing out of key could be so beautiful!

Interesting take. I never thought of it that way but then again, this is one of the scenes I remember the most.
It was the moment they silently ackowledged that they had fallen in love...So powerful...
Not lost in translation but lost in time everytime I watch this movie , still entertaining and romantic and funny , Bill Murray is the man
Ah, yet another way to fall in love with Bill Murray -or something like love, but I definitely swooned.
Best version of More than this ever.
Quip?
I agree. I've tried listening to the original version and I always give up as soon as Bill doesn't start singing.
Yup
My version is better
Not wrong

He's right. There is no more than that.
If the woman I love looked at me the way Scarlett looks at Bill from :56-58 I could die shortly thereafter and be content.

that was pretty ugly of her imho though. I prefer the coy and content smile around 0:52
