- This is an instructional video to help teach the concepts of positioning and angles to ice hockey goalies. In the video I use several excerpts from multiple sources, including Zach Sikich's terrific DVD series: ProHybrid Training.

Just summed up goaltending in 4 minutes. If you just do what he explains, the percentage of saves will be high. He explains (briefly the skill of patience and not moving in until 6 feet, even then you have to read the situation.
Great job.
Never played, can't even Ice Skate, just started playing Goalie in NHL 22' so I will fulfill a dream through your lessons and applying it to gaming...at least what I can lol
Excellent Video Bill! This will be awesome form my goalie, he seems to always be too deep in his net and gets shooters seeing to much net. Thanks
This was great! Very helpful. Thanks!
Great video, thank you! Will help my middle school students understand the geometry of goaltending.
Very informative video, thanks bill!

@@nolanpatrickmvp4005 Hey chief, I'm starting FH as well lmfao.
lol
This helped with me being ringette goalie
Is the line for angle really to the center of the back of the net or the center of the goal line.... it does make a difference... from the clips at the start of the video it looks like it's the center of the goal line ... might be good for the beginner goalie to know the difference....
great video. gj
that is a big goalie and good information
Sorry about that last comment.... I hit send by accident.... I'm a klutz. I love the quality of your videos and all the effort put into them from the technical and technological sides... Great stuff.... But.... Notice how the high glove position doesn't cover any net from the vantage point of the puck... Especially when the goalie is playing the top of the crease. The glove is covering glass at the expense of everything bar down.
I only saw one excerpt from one source in this video.
With the high glov
I love the start "you gotta get in position" "or" "this goalies great hes always in position"
I think RBK pads were the best pads of there age and they are still amazing
not sure at all what you mean by RBK, Reebok has made dozens of types of pads.

If you’re a youth goalie or a parent with one, PLEASE READ THIS..
I was a youth goalie, for years. I started out strong, was good, best around in my age group. When going from age 14 to 15 i got a new coach, one who thought HE knew best how goalies should play. He forced me to start staying upright more, and told me not to drop down unless i HAD to. It completely ruined my game, i never played high-school hockey, and i was never good again because i wasnt playing naturally.. Please, PLEASE if you see a coach making a kid change his style because he thinks he knows best, please stop it IMMEDIATELY. It killed me that i never got to have fun playing goalie again, and never moved on.. Note: This only goes for kids who have been playing the position for years and developed their own style. If they’re a brand new goalie, never played, then a bit of direction is good. But more than anything, the direction SHOULD be, “do whatever comes naturally to stop the puck” cause its different for every kid.
Please learn from my mistake of letting that coach ruin hockey for me...
My coach always tells me to stop moving back bad habit lol
Very useles
At 2:43 the goalie should have his glove at 5 o clock, going back onto the goal line with his glove at 3 o clock. I know i am not a hockey (Ice) goalie but I know what i am talking about.
No, you don't know what you're talking about.
His glove position is fine if you recognize that the goalie is using the Finnish technique; where they hold the glove out and in front of the body. The Finns do this because they are way more active using their catch glove than North American goalies are.
As such, they hold their catch gloves out in front of the body (rather than to the side) because that's where they will try to catch the puck - in front of their body - rather than out and to the side.
"He's Always In Postion" I'm a girl goalie! Watch your words dude.
łhəĢøřəQůəəņ it is a guy goalie and zack sikich is such a good goalie coach. He has coached me for over 4 years now.
