A couple of years ago I had been fighting the wind from Phoenix to Palm Springs on I-10 in a 32 foot motorhome. In P.S., I got blown out of my lane in rush hour traffic, pulled off at the next exit, and waited 10 hours for the wind to die and get back on the road. Hats off to you guys! A sincere THANK YOU to truckers for keeping a supply chain for us.
@@MrSabretooth19 Yes they do but they don't help, especially during the day. Most, if not all, of our newer cars have fog lights on all the time as a means to make the cars more visible to other drivers.
Hi Mike, how are you doing ?? Hope all is well with you and the family... my wife says she hasn't seen you for ages and we love watching you on utube..take care of yourself on those roads, stay safe and we hope you have a fabulous Christmas..cheers from Melbourne, Australia..
This definitely brought back a memory! Way back in my mid-teen years, 1970-ish, I decided to climb aboard my little Honda and ride down to Palm Springs (from Corona) to visit a childhood friend. Ride went quite well through Riverside and over the Badlands. But, about Cabazon, I noticed the wind had picked up through the San Gorgonio Pass, as it liked to do. Didn't notice it much until I made the P.S. turnoff onto CA-111. My speedometer read 60 mph, and, when I looked to my side, I could see INDIVIDUAL GRAINS of sand! Not bad at that time, absolute torture trying to go home! When it was time to head for home, I headed East into Palm Desert and turned onto CA-74, the "Palms to Pines" highway, where I went over the mountain into Hemet. Nice, but tiring, ride. Especially nice because my young body didn't get sand-blasted! Enjoyed the vid. 🚛👌
Hey Mike !! Thanks for the ride !!! When you get back to your yard ,, have them replace the air filters for the motor ,, cabin & Bunk !! 🤔🤔 Have fun cleaning up the dust in the cab !!! 😊😊 Have a good week & ""Marry Christmas " early !!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi from Arizona! I missed your videos! I’m glad to see you posted one. As always, I really appreciate the ride along sand the effort you put into it. You have brighten my day after all the rain we had the last couple of days! Stay well and safe!
Thank you for your videos. I've fallen behind in watching them as I started driving again by myself. Seeing the sand storm makes me so thankful to be driving in North Carolina, although I have fond memories of our trips out west. Thank you for the memories...but I'm glad to be here.
Hey Mike, good to see a video from you today. Hope all is well with you. I love watching when you drive in the snow. ok it looks like fog. I've said this before watching and listening to you is so relaxing. Be safe, Keep on trucking 💙
Glad to see you, Mountain Man. Was getting a bit concerned about you. Happy You're still around and making videos for us to enjoy and learn from. Take Care and Merry Christmas to You and Your Family!
Hello MMM Thank you for posting. I for one have missed your wonderful video's. I hope youre able to post more often in the new year. A Merry Christmas to you and your family !!
Hello! Thank you for sharing the experience of driving through a haboob. Looking back at the cloud through the side mirrors was neat. Not like watching a curtain of rain or a curtain of lady bug like mites. Yep, they drop these lady like bugs to kill the mites in the pines here in Grayson County. I just finished painting the shed & looked out over the river & thought that was an odd looking curtain of rain, darker than usual. Within seconds they were everywhere, on the walls, on me, on the house, only lasts a few days of the outside of your home looking like a bad case of measles. Luckily my paint was dry inside & outside of shed. That was a lot of wind turbines. As many that were turning seemed like as many that weren't. Beautiful sunset. Enjoyed riding shotgun with you, & listening to you talk. Peace always be unto you as well. Best of the Holidays to you & your family.
Hey there mountain man Mike, great job threading the traffic! Thanks for sharing another great video with us! Stay safe out there and hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
Good to see you, nice view in the fender mirror. Different viewpoint. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I do miss your videos and find myself going back and looking at older ones. Stay safe out there.
G'day Mike from East Coast Australia. Missed having you posting videos, been about 2 months. Hope all is well with you and yours. Over here we have dust storms and one I drove through had rain as well, raining mud is no joke. Any way welcome back and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Seeya.
It's so awesome to see you again, I hope everything is going good for you and your family. Thank you for vlog. Stay safe God Bless you and your family .
This type of weather must just do a wonderful job on the clear coat. Holy Christmas. Be thankful your CTSV is at home Mikey. I couldn’t imagine my car in that shit.
Great to be riding Shotgun again with Road Cavalier. Been a while. Lets keep them mountain videos coming. Merry Christmas from your viewers in the UK. Cheers
Welcome back Mike , been a long time since we last rode with you and new Betsie , which we presume is an upgrade to old Betsie that you approve of ? I had my license taken off me due to Cataracts in both eyes and they deemed me unfit to drive, so if you see me hitching , do stop and offer me a ride.
Merry Christmas to you & your family Shotgun!! Glad to be riding along with you again!! Stay safe & give us some I 5 NorCal & Oregon ridealongs if you go that way!
Thanks for a really interesting video Mike. We started having them the last two years I was in Phoenix. Worked in a high rise, formerly the FBI headquarters and when someone spotted a haboob, all work usually stopped as it approached. We kind of had a unique perspective on it's height at first which changed dramatically when it enveloped us. They can be a pretty awful experience if you're on foot. The sands sting your face, the winds blow you around and so on. Can't really say I miss them. They are a pretty majestic weather phenomena though.
Hi MMM! 👋🤠 It so nice to hear from you ! I hope you and your Family are OK? Stay cool and keep on Trucking at all the Streets of Amerika ! Yeeehhhaaa!!!🤠🚛🎬🎥 I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new Year 🎄
There you are Mike I seen a quality driver at Harbor freight in Littleton and thought it was you. stopped in and talked to the driver and asked about you,he said he was just about to call you. glad you’re making videos still!
I really enjoy watching all your videos. They are great. You, JBG Travels and Trucking with Selena are my favorites. Hope you do a video in my area one day. I live in Perris, California.
Glad to see a new video. Like everyone else I wondered what happened to you. I hate fog so I know I’d be going alittle crazy by now.. Hope to see more videos soon.
Hello MtMike long Time no see, my friend I miss your Awesome blogs, Have a Happy Holidays to you and your family, Sending heartfelt positively and peace accompany you.
Good to see your video Mike, drive through the cloud of dust looked like morning fog here in Oregon some mornings except the fog is not light brown. Maybe all those expensive bird blenders stirred up some dust, HeHe. When I lived in San Berdoo decades ago we used to see dust storms off in the distance that looked like another fire and we thought Oh well this is the valley of fire, according to my step grandmother who was native indian.
Hey Mike, great to see you back! This is one wowzer of a video too - have never been through a sandstorm. Now I know I need to turn on my hazard lights if I ever get caught in one. Sorry to say. but that is one ugly part of CA you went through. Glad you're back - stay safe out on the road.
You don't need to use your hazard lights unless the visibility is near zero. Notice that in this video you can see all of the cars regardless of their hazard lights.
Thought those events were made for TV westerns and Middle East movies. Surprised to learn about Haboob on the highways of California. Glad the experience was Shotgun with MMM. A blessed Christmas to you and your family.
We were sitting outside in Desert Hot Springs on this afternoon in October, commenting on the clear skies and sunset. All of a sudden, the southeast became dark brown, almost green, and a howling wind came toward us. We ducked inside, and battened down the hatches. We couldn't see 100 feet from the Lido Palms hotel all night. Smelled terrible, like rotting fish from the Salton Sea.
Good day Mike it's been a while since we have seen you mate hoping you and the family are all well , that dust storm your in at the moment is a bit like our country here "downunder", sure reminds me of some of the areas I have driven over here , you stay safe now mate , you and the family have a safe and a very "Merry Xmas" cheers "RB" Albury "downunder"
Loved the statement at 10:00". I just turn it around and that is what I get on the freeway I-5 in Oregon but I'm in the left lane trying to pass in a four wheeler "car" as you say.
Looks pretty Gnarly!!The 1st time I saw as in a Haboob was in 91’ in Saudi Arabia Operation Desert Storm & it lasted for 3 days during the day the sky was orange 🍊 & we couldn’t see shit.
I was just watching a video tour up at lake Shasta and taking note of the extreme fineness of the dust where the lakes dried up. When the salton sea does dry out and of course salt lake. YES! There's going to be a huge danger! Desert wind and fine contanminated silt will turn many communities into ghost towns in very very short order! Once again I'm seeing, after 40 years trucking, winds and dust storms back on the rise! Interesting times ahead for certain. Be safe drivers, I'm going to put D headphones on and go beat on my drums and ponder world problems and solutions lol, enjoy LA...later.
I check every day to see if Mike has posted, and here he is. I know he doesn't get a chance to read this much, but I just had to post this in case. I was talking to a truck-driving neighbor Sunday and asked him if he ever watched MM. He said, "no, I just watch the stupid ones."
