Thanks SD…I bought a stock 1998.5 ram a few years ago and it is under powered for dragging our fifth wheel. Thanks for the review on the quadzilla. I definitely have some work to do. Nice truck. Shalom
A small set of injectors, qualify fuel pump & good quadzilla tuning will make that truck night and day better to tow with no doubt. You’ll never be able to drive the truck without it again lol. They are so hilariously slow when stock that after turning the tuner off for the first time it almost feels broken it’s so slow 😂
@@superdwarf Thanks man, I was just crawling around under the truck. Overall it looks pretty solid. I’m just never really sure where to start. There are probably some basic maintenance that is required beyond oil, fuel and brakes of course. Last year I lost a tire on the fifth and wheel! Sheared all of the lugs clean off!I’m just glad no one one got hurt. I did have the pump mechanically fixed recently with some additional horse power. But like you were saying once you do the tune it probably feels like it is broken when you have it turned off! I have some mechanical skills, not sure if I’m as confident as you are, but I will see what I can learn in the struggle to become more competent. Take care fellow sojourner. Shalom and Pax Vobiscum
What all would you like touched on in the follow up video? Since it took em so long to get this first video out I could do a follow up pretty quick as I’ve had a lot of seat time with it.
I've had one on my 01 since late 2010 and it's probably the easiest and most effective modification I've made to a vehicle that didn't involve changing hard parts or tearing into the engine. Reeeeally wish I had an iquad for it. Still on the stock tunes and these days I just run pl2 which I think is only timing
There was a tuner company when I had my 2nd gen there called blue chip diesel I believe takes over all the electronics for the motor I think it’s the beast of tuners for vp44 take a look at it
That tuner no longer exist sadly. Quadzilla and edge are the only real players in the vp tuning game anymore and the quadzilla has a lot more timing options and what not than the edge.
@@goatsgarage2635 I’m gonna do a fresh walk around of the whole truck shortly for all the new followers but yes generally speaking all the mods are individually covered over the past few years in their own videos
I have a edge juice with attitude, since installed I feel no difference, not even switching up the power levels. I didn’t install it my self I had a guy do the install. I myself checked all the wires and connectors..even checked if it was tapped to the vp44 and it was. At this point I gave up on edge. I’m scared to buy the quadzilla n it to do the same.
I would triple check the actual pump tap & make sure it went thru the wire coating and is actually making a connection. Unless the whole unit is somehow a dud that’s usually what it is. My pump tap worked perfect on the edge for a year then worked on the quadzilla for 2 weeks and then went bad. Had to get a new wire tap and put it on and it’s been solid ever since. They just vibrate so much that over time a good tap will loosen up or it just didn’t fully make a connection the first time. If you still have it I’d check that or call edge if you haven’t. It’s definitely not normal for it to do nothing and you’d notice if it was doing something. I just sold my edge comp to another guy with a 99 2 days ago and he had it hooked up successful within 2 hours of leaving my house and that unit has years of use on it.
@@superdwarf I also been thinking couple years back I had my truck stolen, & I had a super chip programmed to the truck & they stole the super chip & I never got to uninstall the tune. Could be one of the reasons huh?
@@Hoesay27 Yes, thats probably the whole issue right there. These ecm's are delicate and can only hold one re program at a time. I Got a delayed wait to start light here and there ever since switching from the edge to the quadzilla and its all been ruled to be the ecm itself not the tuners. Make sure you get a good scan tool or another super chips device to flash it back to normal.
I have a Bhaf air filter on the stock intake tube. I took the silencer ring out of the turbo. I also did a boost elbow which is fully shut. So it keeps the gate shut till a higher boost psi which makes the noise louder, pair that with the quadzilla and it makes a lot more noise. I also have some sort of aftermarket waste gate that came on the hx35 which was freshly replaced before I got it. It’s unbranded tho so other than mine seems louder than most and gets tons of comments idk anything about it.
@@Diesel_Shorts yes the waste gate makes the noise. They can all be turned up with those items to make more noise just not sure if it will be as loud. Definitely a good enjoyable increase at the very least.
@@superdwarf so should I leave the wastegate stock or pinch it off or put a boost elbow on it? I have 75 horse injectors and quadzilla. Thanks for the info bro 👊
@@Diesel_Shorts I’d go for the boost elbow and just close it off all the way. Then you get a substantial increase in boost but the gate does still function. Plugging the gate usually pushes the turbo past it’s useful range which waste its life and if it’s pinched it won’t make the nice noise at all.

This tuner made a huge difference in the performance of his truck. I know I was there
I jest bought my first Diesel. It is a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 with the five speed. Your video help a lot.
Glad to hear & congrats on the new ride 🤙🏻
Amazing video on the quadzilla . I just purchased a 99 Cummins . This is the exact tuner I was looking to get . Would like to see a follow up video

That truck is a wiring nightmare.
Organized chaos. Everything works.
Things gonna change when batteries get relocated and what not now that I have the new bed on.

what’s up man, do you have injectors or does that tuner make your truck spit out that much coal?
It might have a small set of injectors but I’m not sure. Pretty sure it’s all tuner. It can be driven 100% clean very easy as well
Do you have an intake or a pinched wastegate or boost fooler? I was wondering how to get that loud turbo sound when you let off the throttle. Thanks!

What tunes are you using
Quadzilla put them together for me. They have a fork you fill out with your set up & they send it with the tuner
