I agree 💯 but the Mouse will only spend money on things that it feels will add value. This thing will still be super popular and busy w/ no AAs so the mouse would find it very hard to substantiate that cost. Once again DW falls flat on its face compared to DL.

I feel like if there is an animatronic in the queue or preshows and that breaks down it kinda ruins the immersion as well. Look at the Hondo animatronic at Smugglers Run when it breaks down they just cover him or replace it with screens.

Nice! The main pre-show scene/transport effect is the same one they used on the "Star Trek: The Experience" ride in Las Vegas (1998-2008). Just like here, you were in a room on a tour, when things suddenly went dark for a second. allowing the walls to rapidly lift into the ceiling. When the lights came back on, presto! you had been beamed to the Enterprise. Considering its use here, I guess that is a sort of homage to the Trek ride on the part of the Imagineers.

Practical effect nerd here, the generator disappearance is neat, here's how it's done.
It's of course half a generator with a mirror in order to allow it to be 'floating'. There are one way mirrors around it. When the lights go out the generator moves down revealing a regular mirror with nothing. That or it rotates, but this seems the most probable.

This looks like a great ride from the queue to the ride itself. My worry for Disney imagineering involves the lack of innovation and reliance on IP. Does anyone know the last original park ride they created in WDW? It seemed back in the day you'd have these great concepts like Pirates, Jungle Cruise, and Haunted Mansion -- these rides were such great concepts that they turned into movies.
Now it's the opposite. They just take a movie and plop it down as a ride. (Tron, Frozen, Guardians, Avatar) They can be good rides, but am I alone in wanting some original attractions like Spaceship Earth again?

I think Disney is changing for the new fan base, the old, traditional fans are being pushed aside, we don’t have much value to them. It’s all business and greed. The best Disney day for me is to simply walk and be in awe of the architecture and yes, get on some rides, the traditional Disney ones. My significant other felt queasy and dizzy afterwards, and refused to get back on. Despite its smoothness, it is intense!! But what a blast! I hear what you say about "why is this in EPCOT?" yet we can see they needed something desperately for an adrenaline rush in the park - which is sorely lacking. THIS is going to be the toughest virtual ticket in town to get, and now makes Rise of the Resistance #2. I'm not a huge Marvel fan, so pretty much all of that is for show. I will say this though, at least Epcot has a cohesive theme (or they are trying to have a cohesive theme at the very least) people's thoughts may vary, but having a fictionalized planet's pavilion along with all the fictional technology it brings to the world isn't too far a stretch. Like I said opinions vary but I at least like that they are trying to have a theme here. Hollywood studios, on the other hand, is just a random catch all for IP. People today crave these extreme thrill rides and EPCOT was lacking in that respect. Plus adding a Marvel IP to the mix is most likely a win-win for Disney.

Love this review. But as for the whole “it doesn’t belong in Epcot” thing, what other park would this fit the best in?? I genuinely can’t see it at magic kingdom or animal, so that leaves Hollywood and epcot, this doesn’t really look like it belongs in Hollywood either, im just lost as to how a space themed ride, (NOT STAR WARS) doesn’t belong in epcot. IMO I think epcot needed a ride like this BAD.

Because EPCOT is meant to be about the society and the future. It’s meant to be a reflection of the past and how we can project that into the future. Rides like Spaceship Earth and Horizons reflect that idea.

Maybe the smoothness of it tricks you, but I thought it was only slightly more thrilling than say Slinky Dog Dash and that this would be a good "in between" ride for kids after Slinky but before they're ready for something like Everest. Definitely nowhere near the level of something like Velocicoaster or any truly intense coaster.

May 10 was definitely the best day of my life!!!! I've never been invited to a Passholder Preview in my life so this was a very huge moment for me. I personally think that Cosmic Rewind definitely exceeds on so many levels. For Epcot's first official rollercoaster it's definitely thrilling.
If you were confused on the story I think I can try to explain it the best I can. And of course SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
So Xandar has built a pavilion at Epcot so they can display their culture to us Terrans and commemorate the Guardians following the events of Vol.1. Now I think the deal with Quill reference the Epcot classics is to appeal to the og fans but also give the joke to him since he hasn't been back on Earth since his childhood so he still thinks we're in the 80s.
Now the tour culminates with the Xandarians demonstrating the Cosmic Generator but a Celestial: Eson (E-SAWN) The Seacher who also appears in the first movie steals the generator and sends Earth back to the dawn of time. So the Guardians will enlist us to go back in time with them to save the galaxy and you pretty much know what happens after that.
Also to clarify the confusion on many things, like why Groot is an adult here and MAJOR SPOILERS for Multiverse of Madness.

This is not the main MCU 616 timeline as you were thinking. Cosmic Rewind is actually set within the Avengers Campus' timeline within the MCU like with Mission Breakout at Disneyland.

@@Shag471 test and adjust is mostly for mechanical and build checks. Having an attraction run consistently 12 hours a day, everyday with guests who can possibly set off sensors because a lanyard flew off the ride for instance is what the preview period is for.

You forget that this ride was announced in 2017. That’s FIVE YEARS AGO. How long much longer do they need? Universal announced AND built 2 new coasters with animatronics and special effects within 4 of those 5 years while Guardians was still being built. So for Disney to not have kinks worked out 5 years into the announced project (longer before it was announced) is just crazy to me.

    • @DavidLopez-nr7wp
      @DavidLopez-nr7wp Před 2 lety +1

@@Shag471 if there’s a delay with the coaster, do you think we’re gonna load guests on to the preshow when they already have guests backed up in the load room? I’m telling you as someone who is a CM who’s worked on roller coasters & has friends on opening team for Guardians, systems are put in place for a reason. Also with my lanyard analogy think about it like this: lanyard flys off guest and lands in track, coaster goes over lanyard and gets tied up with a wheel that keeps coaster on the track (this has happened) do you want that coaster car to emergency stop or keep going? I do agree with you though that Universal has been kicking Disneys ass when it comes to attraction releases. Disney announces stuff way too soon that’s the problem, Universal doesn’t announce anything until they’re a year or even less out from opening. Idk why tf Tron has been taking 80 years to be built. Disney has more parks than Universal right now hence Universals investment into them.

@@DavidLopez-nr7wp I am a current coaster ops employee and have been for the past 5 years. Falling items that cause e-stops, if serious enough, usually modify the rider requirements for that coaster. Lockers for loose articles are then provided and encouraged so that the same issue doesn’t happen again. The woman that lost an eye on Dueling Dragons many years ago due to coin hitting her caused the installation of metal detectors for all coaster at Universal that go over guest areas. But that’s for on-ride issues. I believe Brayden said there was a problem with the preshow itself. In that case there should be a way to reroute the line to bypass this area.

So I rode Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind...& uhh ya, it was disappointing...but hear me out because there are positives & negatives.
I would say no spoilers here but theres just simply nothing to spoil. Nothing about this ride wowed me or left me wondering "how did they do that" like Rise of the Resistance, the Haunted Mansion, & Pirates of the Caribbean always have. I also had the chance to re-ride it following my 1st ride through but just didn't feel compelled to do so at all as I left thinking "well once was good enough" (probably not a good sign for a brand new attraction that includes one of my favorite IPs).
As just a roller coaster, Cosmic Rewind is wihout a doubt a great time. Its very much an updated & modern take on space mountain. Its such an incredibly smooth ride. The ride system is unquestionably great & definitely innovative BUT I would love to see it utilized better by showcasing animatronics and sets (like the classic omnimovers that inspired this new omnicoaster) instead of screens & projections. Hopefully we'll see the imagineers put this ride system to good use in the near future.
The music was indeed an awesome mix & was without a doubt the best & my favorite part of the ride.
If you're looking for an interesting & immersive story, you wont find it here. I just cant wrap my head around the fact that theres more animatronics at WDW from IPs such as a Bug's Life & Dinosaur (2 IPs that i do love) than freaking Marvel/Guardians of the Galaxy (a multi billion dollar generating powerhouse of a franchise). And speaking of dinosaurs, we traded a copy of the absolutely HISTORIC Primeval World diorama that featured a handful of animatronics for this. This baffles me even more when I consider the fact that theres an existing Rocket Racoon animatronic at DCA that could & should have been simply copied & pasted into this ride somewhere/anywhere.
