Ive been noticing the difference between footsteps ingame, so the test is kinda easy to me 1.kayo 2.medium stepper 3.Breach 4.Yoru 5.Reyna Ive got a lot more information by differentiating the different footsteps between players lol
another use of the different footsteps is being able to guess how many people are pushing near you, since you would hear like 3 different footstep sounds
1. Kayo (Hydraulic sounds) 2. Brimstone (I'm guessing as it it was pretty heavy) 3. Breach (Robotic sound) 4. Yoru (Sounded like a heavy to me) 5. Killjoy (Extremely light) I thought Raze would have a distinct with all the explosives hanging around (like the grenade pins). Killjoy would've too if her bots weren't nanobots from her wrist thingy Sage maybe would have a glassy jade balls sound
I'm pretty sure agents have different walk sounds for first player immersion but for the enemy player or teammates there is one footstep sound played. Just like your ingame skins the first person player have different sounds then what other people hear on your team or enemy team.
You can definitely hear the distinct footsteps of Brim, Kayo, Astra and Breach even when playing against them, the others though are harder for me to recogniz individually

So in deathmatch, if you play brimstone or kayo you are in a major disadvantage, I do feel cypher, having a head looking weird and jett would be the best.
I'm pretty sure, to enemy players, they sound mostly the same with only 3 identical classes. And even if it sounds the same to enemies, in game, it's never used since the sounds are too ambigious.

When yoru still had his steps ppl would always say they sound different but I swear they sounded normal when playing against them Maybe I just never noticed the differences in the heat of battle but no one ever tests this stuff from the enemy pov so idk maybe I’m wrong
Question is, can you hear differences in the steps as an enemy or do they all sound the same? Just like SFX from gun skins are only played for you and it will sound like default for enemies

The 3 footsteps depending on "heaviness" is also present in R6 Siege.
