It's sad how this event was to celebrate women in music yet here's an amazing, talented and genuine artist right in front of them and they are clapping at moving pictures on a screen...oh the irony!
That's kinda messed up. The song has such a powerful meaning, but she kept getting interrupted by the random cheers. Didn't fit the vibe of the song. She did an amazing job regardless.
About those rude audiences who are interrupting her ? They didn't like her because the truth in her lyrics are highlighting their own shame on who they try too hard to please the world except themselves. Their rudeness merely justify their internal low self worth
When someone is performing, the crowd is supposed to pay attention to the person singing. It's not fair to Colbie because she is performing such a beautiful song and the audience isn't even listening to her. Also their cheering is probably distracting her which definitely isn't fair because it's not easy performing in front of a huge crowd. I thought she did amazing and deserves much more credit and attention than most artists deserve nowadays. :/
I can't believe the audience is just there cheering at the screen instead of pay attention to her. This is sad, so sad. Sorry, Colbie, but there are still people like me who appreciate good songs with meaningful lyrics, you're amazing and so is your beautiful music
The reaction of the audience amplified the meaning of the song 😊 They don't need to like you, Colbie. The song is a masterpiece itself sung beautifully by a beautiful soul
This just proves the rough road an artist has to go through to be on top. You think your career is taking off, you have multiple songs on the radio, yet when you perform for an award show, the audience is focused on cheering for the people on the screen rather than the artist. Really shows you need a tough skin in that industry, a lot of people are vain and shallow, and most times those are the people you need to suck up to to get anywhere in that career path. Very hard, I don't think I could do it haha
+Amy White lol what? Grown adults don't cheer while the artist is singing. That was a performance NOT a rock concert. If you don't cheer during a ballet recital then you don't cheer with this. It's actually very rude depending on the song. You can cheer for Katy Perry or even Beyonce because the song is not instrumental. You can't cheer for Adele because she has slow songs. Sorry but no. Just because they weren't ratchet doesn't mean they weren't paying attention. If you want to see a crowd get hyped and you barely can hear the person singing, go look up a fetty wap concert
Just goes to show that unless you are dancing half naked with flashing lights and autotune you will not be appreciated. Here is an amazing talent sitting in front of of a piano pouring her soul out with the haunting music and meaningful lyrics she wrote, yet she seems to be performing for no one. She is one of the most underrated singer/songwriters of our generation.
I heard this on the radio and fell in love. Like literally I fell over. Then I asked my friend what this song was called and she said try so then I just decided this is my fav song.
She should have had a segment of performing to herself without the screen playing. They barely applauded her at the end. And her song was the realest one that night.
This, Realize, Brighter Than The Sun, I Do, Falling For You, and Goldmine are my 6 all time favorite Colbie Caillat hits. She puts so much heart and soul into her music. 💙💜🧡❤️🤎🖤💚🤍
the caption is...The singer honors the 50 Most Powerful Women in Music honorees at the 10th annual Billboard Women in Music Event. Friday, December 12th, 2014. so i think she knew they were going to play the slide show, if not then rude. But this is a great song for a slide show.
The song only magnifies what's being seen on the screen above Ms.Caillat(I for one want to see what's up there). The song is not only about woman empowerment, even guys(like me)can relate to this. Of course, I don't wear makeup or do girly stuff like that. But we all have things that we deal with every single day, in order to gain some kind of acceptance when it all boils down to--if you can't, don't , love yourself then what's the point. This performance isn't bad, it was meant to serve as a backdrop to give tribute to "Women in the music industry". Ms. Caillat agreed to do it, and she did her job succasfully.
I have mixed feelings for this song. I love the song itself but I hate it because it's my alarm clock and every time I hear it, it reminds me of the pain of waking up.
lol then perhaps you should change your alarm... I had a similar issue with a song I really liked and almost ended up hating it because it was my alarm haha. gotta change that shiz!
She is singing a song for girls to not change for others and to love themselves and the crowd don't even care about her or what she's pointing out! Have some respect 😡
What's wrong with those people, the only-just-one-thing they should've given attention is the woman who was performing on stage, not those pictures on that screen. Wrong, so wrong :(
This is so FUCKING disgusting. Like Wtf she sings so beautifull and they show stupid COMMERCIALS on the fucking screen like wtf how disrespectfull is that. Feel so bad for her. Love you Colbie
+Rihanna Fenty read the decription. "The singer honors the 50 Most Powerful Women in Music honorees at the 10th annual Billboard Women in Music Event." This is at an event to honor women in music, and those people on the screen are those women. It's a tribute of source. She sang really well and I would have definitely given her more attention though! ^^
They shouldn't have put such an empowering, important songs during a slideshow, like some background noise or whatever. I was actually upset, even angry, that this song and Colbie did not get enough appreciation, all these women, many of whom should REALLY listened to this song to battle their own issues, were clapping when faces appeared on a screen. I am leaving with a feeling of disgust. Colbie, I am sorry that you wasted your breath performing this song to people who will have your message go straight over their heads.
i think the people appearing on the screen are related to her performance. it is a woman impowering piece and event so im pretty sure they're showing the audience that there are women who are making a difference out there in relation to her song "try". i dont think they would just randomly play slide shows for nothing
+holynicoley Read description. It was a slide show of 50 most powerful women in music honorees slide show that they had her sing while showing it, not show it to add to her song.
@petertantillo you seem pretty disrespectful for saying mean things to everyone and hating on colbie , if you don't like it why bother even watching the video, seriously it's annoying....
Put your make up on Get your nails done Curl your hair Run the extra mile Keep it slim So they like you, do they like you? when i saw the full video i get to the summary i was happy seeing such enthusiastic audience clapping and cheering for the artist but it broke my heart when i realized those cheering was all for the people shown to them on screen they barely paid attention to the artist performing hardly for them let me say its not easy to give a performance among such a big crowd so dont ever disrespect an artist SHAME FOR THE AUDIENCE
I couldn't even watch the whole video because I was so irritated that she wasn't getting the attention she deserved. Maybe next time, don't have someone sing live when they are announcing people on the screen!
as you can see she made a lot of mistake due to the fact that the audience distracted her with their obnoxious behaviour, cheering and clapping to stupid photos on the screen while she was trying to focus and perform the song properly
BeautybyAlexia: I despise colbie for taking credit for a song she didn't write. She used photoshop to enhance her looks got paid big money for it than turns around and condemns others who do the same. She enhances her photos and then lies about it. This whole thing started when she accused me of illegally downloading the Jason Mraz song lucky. It's been a war since. If you look back at her history you'll see that others have written 95% of her songs and yet she takes all the credit. She talks about taking responsibility for her actions, not once had she ever apologized for what she did to me and my boys. Until such time as she does, my feelings towards her will not change. It's nothing personal against you or anyone else. Just colbie.
You know you can just @ the person you replying to right? Not sure about your story tho. It's like, a celebrity accused your directly, and you weren't on the news yet? I don't know.
To trotanium 13: Yea I do have personal reasons for despising colbie: ones you know nothing about. She personally went out of her way to harm me and my boys. So don't give me any shot as to why I despise her so much.
she's so underrated, the crowds been cheering not for her but to the person on the screen, i felt Colbie wasn't appreciated!
i agree thats fucked up
I know. Stupid fucking audience.
anyone know who the person on the screen was?
msmusik2 From the snippets I saw Ella Henderson and then I'm not sure but I think it's the important women in music throughout history.
colbie amazing we know it
It's sad how this event was to celebrate women in music yet here's an amazing, talented and genuine artist right in front of them and they are clapping at moving pictures on a screen...oh the irony!

audience was added the "whoop and whatnot"
I agree!
i remember singing this song in vocals class and it was like the world stop and i was the only one there .When i was done everyone was in tears.
I can't believe the audience is just there cheering at the screen instead of pay attention to her. This is sad, so sad. Sorry, Colbie, but there are still people like me who appreciate good songs with meaningful lyrics, you're amazing and so is your beautiful music
For real
Who is on the screen?
What a professional, kept up the song while looking at that screen.
The reaction of the audience amplified the meaning of the song 😊 They don't need to like you, Colbie. The song is a masterpiece itself sung beautifully by a beautiful soul

Sucks that these songs don't get public popular when these are the legendary ones. I thank her for singing these kinds of songs, really~
Tiktok made this popular again. And this song will never lose its relevance
What a performance! Stunning!
She deserve the whole attention of the crow. Bad thing to do with her Billboard.
i know i was so pissed when i found out the crowed wasn't sheering for her
I know!

I know this has been said many times but why the heck is the audience not paying attention to a song that is SO important for girls to hear?
what an annoyingly rude audience! It's making me angry! Colbie deserves a standing ovation for this but they barely listened to her
its because there's a slideshow showing the 50 women, she was basically just mood music which is annoying
Just goes to show that unless you are dancing half naked with flashing lights and autotune you will not be appreciated. She deverve more respect than this.
she deserves the all attention
What is this crowd
I'm so sad now that I realised they are hardly paying attention to her and are randomly cheering at the pictures 😭
다현이가 콘서트에서 커버한거 보고 원곡이 궁금해서 찾아 봤는데 정말 좋네요.

Such an appropriate song for this venue - too bad the audience couldn't figure that out and be polite to Colbie. Great song!
2021 anyone?
I agree with aidi swift

Let her sing the song, and absorb the beautiful meaning of the lyrics instead of screaming for the people on screen
Like delta goodrem . Shes pianist
I went here because TWICE Dahyun performed this beautiful song on their concert!
Loved Bubbly but haven't heard of Try. Dahyun led me here

@petertantillo you seem pretty disrespectful for saying mean things to everyone and hating on colbie , if you don't like it why bother even watching the video, seriously it's annoying....

Only with people who hurt me or my family.
they distracted so much she fucked up the lyrics in the beginning lol

Exactly they're impolite. She's performing and... no one cares~
If it were her, I would have left the instant the audience starts cheering, what a bunch of disrespectful people ugh
had to dislike this video due to the rude awakening
No mommy and daddy issues with me anna. Issues with colbie and people who have no clue as to the reasons why.
maybe you should learn how youtube works before saying crap to Colbie. #loser
Pascal LeBlanc xD I agree
You are creepy, lol
