How is that not a violation of 4th amendment rights? Assuming he did plug it in without consent that's equivalent to searching any other electronic device and a warrant is needed with probable cause.

@Djrendezvous99 The cheap OBD he has won't I thought he was looking for a tune with it but yeah that thing won't tell you much a proper scan tool will show you whatever the vehicle has

    • @MrJmdanca

@@Djrendezvous99 the issue isn't with the data privacy or personal information. It's a private device owned by a citizen and searching it for evidence to potentially use against that individual should require a search warrant. It's like if the cop opened the glove box and took out his registration for him. Sure it's not private info but it's the method used to obtain it that makes it an illegal search.

@@MrJmdanca I hear what you're saying, but there are some holes with your logic. Registration information is not private and, at least to a law enforcement agency, does not require a warrant to confirm the data matches the vehicle. I'm not sure what he's hooking up to the ECU for, but my presumption is that he's trying to match the VIN to the engine. There are some issues with this to begin with and I'm not 100% sure it's legal without a warrant since the level of intrusion is higher in order to gain the information. I'd have to look up case law on the issue. I know the Hellcats are notorious for being stolen with swapped VINs in order to hide that it's stolen. Auto theft has become a lot more sophisticated than it was 10 years ago

Here a Mopar owner back in the day getting harrassed also......That be me.....I worked my butt off before I turned 16 yrs old and saved my money and 1 month before my 16 th birthday bought a Mint 1967 plymouth Barracuda....The local police in my City in Alberta Canada pullled me over twice for a supposive bank robbery, another time cop was just trying to find something. After being pulled over for the 2nd supposive bank robbery I went to talk to my buddies Dad who was a member of the local police and well respected, told him of what was occuring. Funny how the 16 year old being pulled over stopped. After that It was just people trying to get my attention to ask me if I was willing to sell the Car. Even that was like 37 yrs ago and there was assumption policing going on....They knew my car was not stolen just had to see if they can find something else I guess. well for alittle while....HA!. I was never arrested in any of those incidences tho...

It is Illegal to drive a car in Florida without a Hood over the Engine! If a LEO wants to know something about a CAR now days they have a RF Interrogator that sends a Signal to the Vehicles CPU and that will DOWNLOAD allot of information from the Vehicle including the Speed, VIN #, Safety Belt Wearing and what position the Driver Seat was set in cars with Driver's Seat Memory! The Interrogator also downloads GPS information for the Vehicle GPS and/or Smartphone connected to the Car! This Technology will even tell the LEO how load the Sound System was if it is connected to the Vehicle CPU like the Mopar Uconnect System is and all this information is Downloaded WITHOUT a Warrant or Probable Cause! The Laws are about 10 years behind the Technology in the Cars and the Gadgets LEO Agencies are Using and what is even more screwed Up the Companies that make the Integration Software/Hardware are the same ones making the Interrogators! This is basically the SAME Sort of thing that started about 35 years ago when High End Radar/Laser Detectors were coming out but a different division of the same company was releasing a Better Radar/Laser Gun for LEO Agencies.

I’m white and have owned one of these cars probably longer than the majority of people being 9 years now. Never been pulled over in mine. But then again I don’t go driving without a hood either. Nevertheless you make a great point but in the video in the beginning the cop said I pulled you for a tag that doesn’t match this car that’s why he running the car. Could have just been in his dad’s name. Either way you’re right it’s not probable cause. Probably wouldn’t even arrested the guy either if he would have not been a dick.

I have a hellcat 2 yrs now. Only pulled once. Reason: a person listed on my insurance had an expired license. That would be my brother, who has no legs, moved out of state, and doesn't drive anymore. I was polite, and he sent me on my way, with, nice car, ma'am. Florida. It's all about respect.

If the law says you need a hood to drive on public roads, it is a ticket for defective equipment or some shite.
It also gives them probable cause to conduct an inspection right there on the side of the road.
There is no proof offered regarding your accusations other than you blabbing.
I dont trust your word, end of cool story bro.

I disagree with your assessment that if he was white that wouldn’t happen. Now I don’t have a hellcat but I do have a rocket on wheels. They mess with me all the time all I can say is law suit find a lawyer.
