Vergil used the Yamato to separate the demon from the human, splitting him into two half’s on demon (iruzen) and one human (V) but in order to do that he stabbed himself in the stomach to do so.
So don’t try what he did cause yeah your full human not half human half demon like he is

That's right, in-game, Vergil's yamato is a Nodachi, obviously, the only way to swing the Yamato in real life, it has to be a katana, because differences between weight and strength needed to use them

To be fair, Vergil is also a giant, at a whopping 196 cm (Dante is smaller by 3 cm) so a standard tachi looks like a katana to him

I heard that a katana's size depends on how tall the practitioner is so that the user can perform the techniques properly. So if the user is super tall his or her sword would be much larger than a user who is shorter. Some people say that dante and vergil is super tall that's why the yamato is the same length as a tachi but is technically still a katana.
