- Legendary Pictures’ Krampus, a darkly festive tale of a yuletide ghoul, reveals an irreverently twisted side to the holiday.
When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.
All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.
The horror-comedy also stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Stefania Lavie Owen and Krista Stadler.
Krampus and his mischievous underlings have been created by the combined efforts of Weta Workshop and Weta Digital, both renowned for their epic work on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies and King Kong, among many others.
Written and directed by Michael Dougherty (Trick ’r Treat), Krampus is co-written by Zach Shields and Todd Casey and produced by Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, Alex Garcia and Dougherty. The film will be released by Universal Pictures.

Here in Sweden goats are a part of the christmas mythology. Among other things we have a traditional burning of a giant goat.

The goat is an ornament and there are no rituals. A Swedish town has a giant goat (because it is pretty). Since it is made of straw the students likes to sneak in and set fire to it.

We in europe celebrate Krampus each year on december 5th. The eve before Saint Nicholas. Never thought of such an evil Krampus! I think the idea of the real Krampus wasn't scary enough.. And those Krampusse do look more like Perchten not like a Krampus.. Google: Percht/Perchten
Then you'll see. By the way, if Krampus supposed to be scary, that isn't a scary look nor action.. Saw scarier ones in Austria at the Perchtenlauf and at the Krampuslauf (google those words and you'll see)

Just saw this movie yesterday, and, I thought it was fucking awesome! The film had a perfect balence of scares and laughs. The scares were actually scary, not like something you would see in other horror movies like the gallows or some shit like that. The designs of the creatures were so creepy and demented. The laughs were pretty funny, as well, but the scary AS FUCK creatures were definetly the star of the show. All of the effects were so great, not much CGI, exept for maybe the little gingerbread men and the animated sequence for the story the grandmother told the rest of the film. The ending was great. It felt like a (good) twilight zone episode. It's such a breath of fresh air to see a director break out of the mold of horror movies lately. Definetly will see this movie on christmas for years to come.

I first saw this trailer when seeing Mockingjay part 2 and at first I thought that it was a happy kids Christmas movie. I was wrong. It looks like a goat made of crumpets has combined with fnaf and creepy clowns to make a weird film.

I gotta say, when I first heard of this movie I wasn't too excited. I heard it was a Christmas Horror movie that was rated PG-13. I immediately thought, PG-13 version of Silent Deadly Night. After watching and reviewing the trailer, it could end up being pretty good.
Comedy / Horror works amazing together, and the most recent example today would be the series "Scream Queens" on Fox.
I am still a little bummed out about the rating however. I feel PG13 makes it a little too hard to do much horror, and too hard to add much comedy.
With the being said, it is the same Director who filmed "Trick' R Treat" my all time favorite Halloween themed movie. Maybe he can do the same for Christmas. For that main reason, I will definitely be seeing this movie

Hmm. This actually does look interesting. Doesn't show the traditional serial killer dressed up as Santa Claus, but an actual dark legend revolving around Christmas. I'm giving it a chance just because of the origins. I could care less that this has majority of the cast as comedians. The other reason that I'm giving this a chance is because the one directing this movie is the same guy who did Trick 'r Treat, and that movie was fucking awesome.

I stumbled across this while laying in bed last Christmas eve on one of the pay channels...it was hilarious and very well written and acted...it is now on my Christmas must watch list along with It's a Wonderful Life, White Christmas and Scrooged. My Favorite line in the movie is "I'm tired of this fairytale horseshit", as the evil elves suck Champ out the window by a chain....I literally almost had to dial 911 I was laughing so hard....my wife walked in and I reran the scene and she just said "You are sick" and walked out.
