This is the final product of Let's Build an Apartment, The Enclave. I hope you guys enjoy this as a finale to the series. It has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and features a large and luxurious pool out back.

Thank you so much! This channel has only been up for 5 months and growth is slow in the beginning I guess.
It's because people tend to stay and watch the narrated builds instead of the ones set to music. Personality is a large portion of what makes the popular video creators so popular. Although I personally don't care when looking for a house to download, I return to a channel if I'm entertained. It's the people who do let's plays and ramble during their speed builds that I watch again and again. Regardless, this is a fantastic build.

Thank you! That's a good point. I do Let's Plays and Let's Builds that I talk in, so I have no issues with commentary. I just keep debating whether to add commentary to the house building videos. The response seems to be half and half when I ask if I should or not. However, I do plan to change how I do the time-lapse build videos a bit and plan to do commentary in the next one. I guess I'll see how the response is when I do that. I've just been worried that commentary in these types of videos will annoy people :P
i totally prefer videos which mave music in them OR commentary about the house - not personal stuff... Idk, maybe im weird that i watch building videos and i expect info on the build, not the people's life xD'' (btw i loooove how you make interiors, totally inspired me ;3)

The walk through with the sims in the apartment is awesome. I'm 50 years old, and watching a building series, waiting for the walk through, is like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. No matter what you're recording, I prefer it with commentary. I like to get to know an LPer. If you remark that you've had a bad day or you're getting a cold...I want to wish you a better day tomorrow or remind you to get some rest. I'm not the type of sub that just shows up to be entertained.

did you make the garages accessible from in the house? how did you do that if so? the whole foundation house to garage thing is annoying :P
and the path from the garage to the street, what is that and can the cars drive on it? I thought the parking space had to meet the street.
nonlatexgloves Thanks! One of the garages is accessible. You just put stairs going from foundation level to ground level. In the Sims 3 cars don't actually drive from where they are parked to the street. They just magically appear on the road. It's just terrain paint placed for aesthetics.

Chris Calogero Thanks! It's basically just deleting every item and keeping the camera at a saved angle while recording or taking pictures of everything being added back in. To do the floating preview you use camera mode. Chrillsims3 made a really good tutorial here: The sims 3 tutorial - Camera - Chrillsims3

For the life of me, I can't figure out how you (and stephosims) make the speed build parts of your videos "stop motion"
You delete objects and then take screenshots as you undo the deletions. Hopefully that makes sense.
does this work like a late night apartment? like youcan only see yours & the other three are townies but you can knock on their doors/invite them over?

The world is Starlight Shores. It came with The Sims 3 Showtime.
I only have xbox 360 the sims and the freakin fire meter is so annoying I'd never be able to make that place and I don't think I'm talented enough! Lol great job really! I'd love to live there!

I love the build, but how how do you get the lot to actually function as an apartment? I understand that you need either University Life and/or Late Night installed, but it seems very confusing. I know about changing the lot type, but there's no way for sims to claim a room like they did in TS2 Apartment Life. Would you mind explaining how you get it to function?
***** Apartments from late night and university life are different. This is a Late Night style one. To do that you have to type "testingcheatsenabled true" and "buydebug" into the cheat console. A new category will appear in buy mode and in that there will be a miscellaneous category. In there will be three types or markers public, hidden, and level skip I believe. They look like shiny orbs. You place these these to dictate the different types of areas. Any unmarked area is what your sim owns. I hope that helps!
Ah, ok. And you just adapted that to fit a smaller apartment than the high rise apartments?
Yeah I build an actual structure rather than using the high rise shells that come with Late Night. Those can also be found in buydebug

I know this is late but I need to ask.
Is it possible to change this from an apartment to a a normal residential home?
I'm a bit rusty on apartment building in the Sims 3, but I think you have to put in a couple cheats (testingcheatsenabled true and then buydebug) and if I remember correctly that should make the markers that were used to turn this into an apartment visible. You should be able to remove them. You have to have the Late Night expansion though.

Thank you! You can still download it. If you are missing an EP that is used the item will either be replaced or missing, so you might have to redecorate a bit.

If anybody is still responding to comments 3 years later, I'm a bit curious about how this apartment works during game play. As far as I know, behind every room with a door from the hall it can be selected as an apartment and random sims will spawn there. Do you need late night for that to work? Do you get a good mix of sims, like household sizes, different ages and any relationships such as siblings? And do the sims keep existing once they are spawned in and only spawn in when they are empty? And do they spend any time outside? I know that there are a lot of questions but I've been interested by this lately and nowhere else would give me the answers I was looking for.
I'm pretty sure you need Late Night to be able to use the markers for apartments. It's been a while since I've playing with Late Night so I don't quite remember how this place would work, but I think Sims might spawn in the other apartments. Usually it's single Sims who spawn. They spend some time in the hallway and public areas of the apartment. I'm pretty sure you can also knock on their door to get them to some out and talk to you. Hopefully that helps!

How do you build houses, do u need cash, or is there a free build mode
When you start a new game click the menu button then select Edit Town and you can click on any lot and edit it.
Do u use CC?
Nope in my builds I only use EA content :)

Yeah you can download it off the exchange using your Sims account. I also have a link to download it off of media fire, which doesn't require an account. Only the common area and one of the apartments are furnished. Furnishing the whole thing would have taken way too long lol.
How does the media file download work?
You click download then I believe you double click on the .sims3pack file and it will install.
Does it work for pirated sims 3?

How can you build this house with the fire limit?
There's a fire limit on the PC game.
I play on a console and its hard to even build a big house because of the fire limit.
