Iran Votes To Choose Ebrahim Raisi’s Successor | Subscribe to Firstpost
Residents of Iran are voting today to choose their new president. The country which was supposed to hold the Presidential election next year was forced to conduct early polls after President Ebrahim Raisi’s death. He died in a helicopter crash in May this year. Iranian officials initially chose a list of six candidates out of which two opted out on June 27. Economic crisis, nuclear policies and governance remain a key issue this year. The polls will open at 8 AM and close at 6 PM local time. The results are expected to be announced in the next two days.
