  • Trialing the Organized Mum Method for 6 weeks was an eye-opener. Recently I compared 5 of the top cleaning routines other than the FlyLady Cleaning System and found that I was interested in The Organized Mum Method. Starting the Organised Mum Method was so easy. Gemma Bray did an amazing job with the TOMM free printables that walk you through everything.

10:13 MY FINAL THOUGHTS ON TOMM
The Organised Mum Method for beginners is fast and easy to follow. New moms or busy moms will find TOMM to be quick to learn. The thing that stands out from other cleaning systems is that the Organised Mum Method is the only cleaning routine that I have found that includes yard work as part of their rotating tasks and The Organized Mum Method printables are the very best and easiest to follow.
TOMM, The Organised Mum Method, may be the fastest and easiest cleaning routine to start as a beginner. It is easy to follow and works similarly to FlyLady with daily (L1), weekly (L2), and rotating (L3) tasks. Deep cleaning is done on Fridays and the cleaning sessions should take 30 min! I like this system but I will compare TOMM vs FlyLady in a future video. @GemmaBray

As promised, here is my full review of TOMM. If you want to show support for this channel and help me cover the expenses of creating content, I have opened up a Patreon membership patreon.com/TodaywithTerriK which will give even more support, encouragement, and fun. I understand times are tough, so please do not feel like you have to pay a penny to support me! Watching the videos to the end or playing them as you clean and commenting are the BIGGEST signals to CZcams that you enjoy the channel and help them reach even more mommas like you/me/us.
I am not sure why this cleaning method is not promoted in the US more, because it was so easy to start! To give a true and honest review, I tried The Organised Mum Method for 6 weeks. As you can see, it was beginner friendly BUT lugging that Kirby around every day was a pain.
Praise report: My 2nd g-baby is quickly coming and I could not be more excited. I do ask for prayer for safe delivery to mom and baby. Also, please continue to pray for my home as we are building a new business and trusting God to provide for our needs. Thank you all for becoming such an amazing group of friends over the past year! I cannot express the impact you have on me daily with your comments and prayers.
Now, pick a cleaning routine and set a timer (or watch my videos) and let's get busy!

I love that you encourage your viewers to figure out what works for them, while still helping people figure out how to adapt your favorite method to their own needs. Theer is no one-sized fits all way of climbing out of a mess and keeping it that way. And I love that in today's world, we're all rooting for eachother and supporting eachother. After using TOMM for several months, I realized that I still needed to tweak alot of things to get it done without spending huge chunks of my day doing it, and I finally figured how I can do my level 2 and level 3 in no more than 1 hour (average 30-45 minutes per day), even with 3 bathrooms. I have a one floor house, so It works well for a one-floor house, not sure about 2 floor houses. My cleaning days are numbered because my 2 days off vary every few weeks. And my Focus day is Day 3 instead of day 5, because I combine TOMM with a kind of 3-way method.
Day1: wand dust High ends, ceiling fans, and clean windows and mirrors (including bathrooms), clean bathroom sinks. (If a sot is clean already, skip it and move to the ne t section).
Day 2: clean/dust hard surfaces (one small section-no more than 5 minutes per room/area-which includes kitchen counters behind things). Also, toilets
Day 3: Level 3 Focus; deep clean each area/room (one small section per room/area, no more than 5 minutes per room, OR pick one room /area that really needs it the most).
Day 4: Pick one bathroom shower to clean
Mop: all bathroom floors, then the rest of the house, focusing only on areas that look like they need it
    Day 5: Vacuum
Level 3: detail vacuum one small section per room/area
    Level 2: Sofa Dive
Level 1: quick vacuum each room area
About vacuuming: I do each applicable level in a room/area before moving to the next room.
    Days 6 a day 7: off
It sounds a bit complicated, but it's a actually super easy. Plus, I don't even use check lists or schedules for cleaning anymore. I can easily remember where I left off in each room the previous week. I don't need a rotating schedule either, because I know that each section of each room will get level 2 and 3 attention. The one thing I do need to put on my calendar is outside work. My yard is big and needs more attention than what I can give it within the alloted time. I have yet to see how people fit it into their 30-45 minutes. And, yards need attention more than just one day out of an 8 week period. But that's a job I don't mind doing, s9 for now I add it to my calendar as a separate job from house cleaning.

I'm looking at the comment section again after months since I first watched this video, and wow! I can't believe how many times I've changed things in my routine. Ironically, however, all my changes since I started, havelkind of come back almost all circle back to the basic TOMM method., with some of Fly Lady mixed in lol. Watching your videos and Ariel from That Awkward Mom, so much, It finally clicked that I'm already doing some of the Baby steps before ever knowing what baby steps were lol. So, I'm going to try and include the other baby steps, to help me with my daily routines. That's where I get tripped up the most. The other thing I want to include is that weekly Home Blessing, with my own hour long task list. That will include the 30 minute level 3 Focus for the week, light wand dusting through the house, quick clean of windows through the house, changing bed sheets (hubby does that for me and I get them and the Comforter in the wasj) and vacuuming main areas for 10 minutes. Then, during Zone cleaning during the week, I already have 2 weekly tasks done, and can focus on1 bathroom for weekly cleaning, and mopping floors in whichever zone I'm in each day, plus a monthly task in that zone, if needed.
I have finally accepted that I need an hour of non-daily cleaning per day, not 30 minutes, of I'm going to stick to having 2 days off. I've tried breaking things down in so many different ways, and it still boils down to needing an hour a day. Whether I do it all in one long session or whether I break up the tasks during the day.
Anyway, I've made some other modifications implementing both Fly Lady and TOMM, and I've been doing some of it for a week while I developed my schedule, and I can honestly say, I finally feel like I'm staying on top of things and not feeling overwhelmed...like.. at all. Even though I'm still working on messy house boot camp in many areas of my home, I felt like I'm in command if it. I know I'm making steady progress. I have a strong feeling though, that my zone cleaning days are going to get quicker in time. I just can't clean in a rushed state, physically or mentally. And, I thought the routine I'd mentioned previously in this thread was going to be it. Nope. I felt so stressed and rushed doing it that way. And, I found, I still need lists and schedules written out, even if I dnt follow them exactly sometimes. I need to see, written down or in digital format (usually both), what my strategy is for the day, week and month. But I also dont want to feel so strained to a strict schedule either. I want that sweet spot between a strict schedule and going with the flow. I just haven't found it yet lol

Terri, as you know, I am now doing Flylady's routine. The only thing I really still do from the TOMM method is dedicate each zone cleaning day to a different deep cleaning job in whichever zone I'm in each week. Other than that, I'm pulling heavily on Fly Lady's approach to routines and zone cleaning. I appreciate TOMM system for getting me started , but Flylady won me over in the long run. And it is so adaptable to different homes and life situations. Honestly, out of all the Fly baby youtubers, you and then Ariel (that awkward mom) won me over the most, and then Carri Grace With her fllex zone. But you most of all, got me wanting to like Flylady's system ❤

My husband does the outside, so I added rooms she didn't mention and shuffled them around. Some of the weeks stayed the same, and others have the same jist to them. With fly lady I feel like the cleaning weeks come around too fast, and too much in them. For daily and the every week cleaning I changed to go with my energy. Don't have much energy most of the time.

Thank you for this review. I think flylady is great for those who are just starting out on the home maker life who do not have habits or routines formed. That system is effective for someone who needs to build a foundation.
