    You’re the only reviewer doing the bike fit test which is my criteria for a new small SUV. I’m not an avid bike rider, but from time to time I want to just throw a bike in the back without taking the wheel off, and go to the beach or a trail. My other interest in a review is to see if the rear seats have a recline option, and if there are vents in the rear which you addressed. I’m surprised that I it’s almost 2024 and many cars don’t have vents in the rear! Thanks for the thorough review. ✌️

      Taking the front wheel off is not that big of a deal tbh. I have the 2023 CRV hybrid sport and I throw my Marin Rift Zone 2 in the back with no issue. I take the front wheel off just because I rather my bike lay flat as apposed to having it lay at an angle.

    The fact that they call this a compact SUV is funny. We test drove a Rav4 and the CRV both hybrid. Didn't care for the Rav4 due to many things but mostly because my husband could barely get behind the wheel. We test drove a 2024 Honda CRV Touring Hybrid on a Saturday and picked up our new one with 4 km on it by Wednesday. Rav4 would take 2 years. I've read people have to install their own weather stripping to put on their doors for the Rav 4 to help cut down the cabin noise. The Honda is so quiet and comfortable.

      My 6ft 2ins friend can get in and out of my RAV4 hybrid quite easy. But yes, you’ve got to lower the seat and put it in the rear position via the electrics every time you use it. I’m only 5 ft 9” and I can kinda see your point. Anyway the Honda CRV Touring Hybrid is an awesome vehicle.

      My dad went with me to pick up my new crv last week and fell asleep on drive home... I think due to quiet and smooth... I did notice the firmness of suspension going over pot holes.. that is what really bugged me with my Honda Accord sport... but given that I bought for $23 then traded for it crv for $16k 6 years later .. super great investment , well see how this , hybrud CRV,ends up in the future for resale value. I am guessing that some may hesitate to purchase a used one after the battery warranty is gone since they are so pricey.

    I used to own a Gen2 CRV, and your bike would have fit, with tire on, standing up with half the rear seat folded down. In that case, the spared tire was external and sothe floor could be lower, and the backopened up like a door. I currently have a 2017model. I considered moving to the hybrid, but its achilles heal is it is only rated for 500lb towing, and I use a small homeowners trailer so I can own decent milage small SUV instead of a truck. The need to bump up the towing rating back to what the ICE version is, which already was paltry.

    • @EatSleepDrive
      @EatSleepDrive  Před 2 měsíci

      Haha, you're right, the towing rating is pretty abysmal. I would speculate very few people are towing with these though. Honda usually does pretty good market research, and I recall with the latest Ridgeline, even such a small subset of truck buyers tow. It's certainly nice to have the ability, but I think they're banking on not too man people doing it with the CRV. Thanks for the comment though, the gen 2 CRV was such a fantastic product!

    Have 2024 CRV AWD hybrid sport. MPG highway 41. MPG City nice suburban streets 49 MPG. Lithium batteries cargo area formerly occupied by spare tire. Current total MPG 44 combined city/highway, 75% interstate 25% backroads rural area. Good warranties 3/36, 5/60, 8/100. Ultimately lithium batteries do run down and may have to be replaced (not cheap -- supposedly$5,100😢) thus the 8-year 100,000 mi battery warranty. Ergonomically very nice. Takes a little getting used to if you drive a ten-year-old Accord -- cars changed a little since 2014 model year! Good point regarding batteries which makes it a disposable car for me. Toyota/lexus metal Nickle Hydride batteries may not have the same capacity but do last. There’s RX’s driving about at 15 years old with no battery issues and big miles on them. I agree with the reviewer that the RAV4 has less utility but at least it has a spare. I’ve been left stranded in a Honda when a tyre burst. A can of foam doesn’t cut it and needs replacing every few years anyway.
      The infotainment and tiny reversing screen are a decade and a half outdated!
      I agree with the reviewer about the buttons being preferable than a touch screen but Honda, please fit decent screens/satnav!!!
      Those things and the battery being Li would rule it out for me. I’d stick with an RX which has plenty of room with back seats down, carries a spare and is more refined and powerful. I think Honda snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with this one especially in light of competition. For some, the RAV4 despite some shortcomings, remains a more sensible choice.

    There isn’t a review so far that’s showing me how the back seats fold down and whether they lay completely flat or not. On the RAV4 they don’t lay flat-they lay slightly inclined upward, which really limits cargo space.

    • @erics2091
      @erics2091 Před 6 měsíci

      There’s a huge bump. When these seats recline the bottom of the seat move with the back of the seat. Which offers great comfort to the person sitting down, but makes putting the seats down from the back very hard. They “click” into different positions. You’ll have to put them down from the side doors, or stretch yourself inside the car.
      This also doesn’t have a spare tire, instead that’s where the battery is. So, it’s probably better to store a spare tire in the back than a bike. I don’t know if all hyrbrid/electric cars don’t have spares, but this is very surprising to me.

    Hybrid drivetrain and build quality is great but, to me, the most impressive thing about this car is the rear legroom. It sounds lame but no other car in this segment offers this much interior space. If you have a growing family you've got to pay attention to that rear seat space. Most compact SUVs offer very little rear legroom. Now my kid can climb in and out of the car and not destroy the lower part of the center console and kick the back of the front seats.

    Rav4 hybrid awd does better mpg because there's no turning drive shaft to the rear wheels ,on this crv as it gets older you have to worry about tranfer case oil, bearing brackets that holds the drive shaft, couplers front and back, rear dif oil,clutch packs so maintenance cost would be a lot higher than Rav4 and I'm only comparing drive trains.

      @@cherrylicious2 It is truly weird why Honda wouldn't install a normal easy-to-understand TPMS system. This is what Honda says: Instead of directly measuring the pressure in each tire, the TPMS on this vehicle monitors and compares the rolling radius and rotational characteristics of each wheel and tire while you are driving to determine if one or more tires are significantly under-inflated. This will cause the low tire pressure/TPMS indicator to come on and a message to appear on the gauge.

      It’s a crazy over sight. But perhaps the younger generation doesn’t know how or what to change a tire?
      There’s rear mounted tire mount and top rack tire mounts, but that’s hundreds extra for aftermarket parts on a brand new car.
      However this seems more of a city commuter not an off road vehicle. So most people might be close to help.
      Idk for me, I keep a breaker bar, repair kits, air compressor, a Jack, a spare, and tow straps. But my suv has rear underneath storage, because there isn’t a battery in there.
      Not a huge deal, but that and that fact the European models have fog lights and the US model has them removed with blank spots in the bumper and blank buttons next to the wheel. They can be installed but again extra on aftermarket parts from Europe.

      When I first saw it didn’t have a spare I couldn’t believe it. I does come with an inflator and some gel patch kit in the side rear well. But if your tire is beyond repair, you’re out of luck.

      I’ll bet you’ll see all these with a AAA sticker on the back. 😂
      Also the European models have fog lights. You’ll see there’s spots for them on the US model and there are blank buttons for it next to the steering wheel. You can get them and have them installed, but again more money on a brand new car.
