Probably because of stupid copyright laws that gave them a monopoly over falling block games with those shapes. Like there's hardly any cool (legal) variants to the game so people just play the same boring uninnovative versions from the Tetris company

I remember that was one of the few video games that my sister liked back when we were kids in the 80s.
I also recall that on the Nickelodeon show, “You Can’t Do That On Television”, there was an arcade in the show that had a fictional video game, “Froggy Hop”. Clearly, it was based on Frogger.
The fact that Duck Hunt hung in there for over a decade is insanely impressive to me.

It's total sales, so selling a bunch in the 90's won't suddenly disappear even if they stop selling, the numbers only increase over time. Minecraft could be there for the next 30 years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AB GAMR hd why hate on Fortnite? 1st off its totally free to play, 2nd it’s the only shooting game in my recent memory that wasn’t sucking the money out of everyone who played it with DLCs. I get that the game is kinda childish, but the creators are coming out with new stuff constantly at no charge. The game isn’t perfect, but I’ve never had a problem with servers etc. I just don’t understand why every one hates on it so much.

The data would probably be hard to compile, but WoW definitely should be on this list. In one year they had 12M active subscribers. The question is, how many unique subscribers did they have on the initial game from 04 and on? The base game is required for all the expansions. That has to be millions of unique players. Way more than 12 at one time.

Tetris stats are incorrect and vague. It depends on how exactly do you count sold copies. Original 1984? Every variation since? Only official tetris franchise? If you count ALL of them it will be ~500 000 000 copies.

I just remember when im collage student. I rent a lot game and copy the good one.
My family got the Wii in 2012 and years later we still have it and use it time to time. My favorite games to play on it were Mario Kart, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, and Wii Play, and I just loved making Miis and drawing on that like photos icon game on the Wii. I’m keeping the Wii console so that I can be the fun Aunt with fun old games for my nephews and nieces in my future. My big brother also got the Xbox 360 many years ago and passed it on down to me I played lots of Minecraft on there fun times also am going to try keeping that console as well. Crazy I didn’t know Tetris was so popular for many years and then Minecraft came along 😅
