God alive, why don't they just use Linux???
They could literally be running a version from the 90s and at least nobody would know.

My dad served on HMS Scott just after WW2 surveying mine fields in the North sea and said " it was cold wet and boring punctuated by an occasional very big bang!

No mention this ship making money for the MOD, it’s the only RN Vessel that actually makes money. Selling data.

I actually really like this. royal navy is not just your destroyer and frigate. I want to know more about the others type of ships and their role and capabilities.

one of the most important ships in the RN fleet but one not very well known. i always thought that Scott was a RFA ship. :P my bad sorry guys :)

They have just decided to keep her in service another ten years. Sensible decision given the state of world events. Twenty five year service life always seemed on the short side. The US Navy keeps ships for forty years regularly. Get your moneys worth.

@@Samaldoful If you google Royal Navy and Windows XP a bunch of articles will come up about how they still use it and even the new carriers have computers running Windows XP. Apparently the US Navy still has a few systems running it as well.

What you talking about... navy ships can’t be hidden in the modern era it’s impossible... and why would China or Russia want to target this ship? Or any RN vessel for that matter. It’ll never happen.
