Calculating the Least Squares Regression Line by Hand, Problem 1

In this video, we demonstrate how to use a single predictor variable (x) to estimate the average value of a response variable (y) using the least squares linear model. We will perform the necessary calculations by hand to find the slope and y-intercept of the regression line. We will then form the line Y= a + bX, where b is our slope and a is our y-intercept.

How about if they give Y= 90 and then asked for The absence (x) ?

Once you have the linear equation, all you need to do is to solve for x after plugging in 90 for the y. At that point, you are just solving a linear equation for x.
