  • This a showcase of my Leica C11 and my Canon Elf, And, why I shoot them.
APS film, or Advanced Photo System film, is a type of photographic film that was introduced by a consortium of several photography companies in 1996. It was designed to offer various advantages over traditional 35mm film. APS film comes in a cartridge that is smaller and easier to load than 35mm film, and it offers features such as magnetic information encoding for printing information on the back of prints, as well as a variety of print formats (including traditional 3:2, as well as 4:3 and panoramic formats).
APS film also introduced the concept of "IX" (information exchange) data, which allowed cameras to record information such as the date and time of exposure, as well as other metadata, directly onto the film. This information could then be used for printing and organizing photos. APS film also allowed for easy switching between different aspect ratios (standard, high-definition, and panoramic) within the same roll of film.
Despite these innovations, APS film never gained widespread adoption, and it was largely replaced by digital photography in the early 2000s. Today, it is considered a discontinued format, and finding APS film and processing services can be challenging. However, some photographers still use APS cameras and film for artistic and nostalgic purposes.

It’s a true gem. I wish the film stock still existed. The tix, contax is also sweet but the Elf for me takes the cookie

It's still a nice piece to keep on display. Didn't APS-c come into being when digital was on the rise? I completely enjoy your channel.

I did have the original DSLR by Nikon which was out at the same time …. Yes, but to be honest the price was insane.
